  1. In which of these games do you believe the Big Ten is going to pull off the upset? It's interesting to me that you make excuses and accuse Meph of making excuses in the same post.
  2. Two Ohio State cornerbacks have been suspended for the championship game. I'm not sure how deep they are at that position, but one is a starter and the other played quite a bit per my understanding. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/bowls07/news/story?id=3162942
  3. still in my 20's for another 10 months....
  4. please...please...don't deny me my spot in the HOF...
  5. And praise Jesus that only one game stands between Brandon Cox and the end of his 6th and final year of eligibility.
  6. I agree with your post except for the emboldened. I'm not sure how one can be confident this is a bad business decision without seeing documents outlining the Cubs payroll budgeting contraints and files detailing Mark's health concerns, prognosis. We would also need to be privy to what conversations Hendry has had with free agents and with other GMs regarding potential trade opportunities. Without all of those items, we're speculating, aren't we?
  7. I can only imagine. wait, so what are the terms of this contract?
  8. The Popeye analogy is an interesting one...I probably wouldn't want the media to focus on the Mitchell Report for long either if I had a desire to purchase a major league baseball team..
  9. I've heard different variations of the rumor..some say he slept with a trustee's daughter. I'm not sure there is any merit to that. Personally, I believe he was going to be axed by Auburn in '98 mainly because he was a poor recruiter. I do seem to remember some stories about him not having a very close relationship with his players...distant and perhaps more of a figurehead than a coach. I'm not sure how much truth there is to those stories either.
  10. I wouldn't be overly concerned about Bowden leaving Auburn during the middle of the '98 season. Bobby Lowder, the same powerful board member who wanted to replace Tuberville with Petrino a few years back, had it in for Bowden that year. Without question, Bowden was going to be fired before the end of '98. That said, I don't believe Bowden is a great coach or recruiter; he wasn't with Auburn. He inherited a lot of talent from Pat Dye, and his Auburn teams consequently went 11-0 and 9-1-1 in '93 and '94. However, by the time he left in '98, the cupboard was bare, and his team was 1-5 when he resigned. Tuberville replaced Bowden, went 5-6 in '99, has turned the program around thereafter. I honestly can't provide a lot of expert analysis about Terry, but I'm pretty sure he has more experience and would have more input with the offensive side of the ball. Bottom line, my perception is that he wasn't a great coach ten years ago.
  11. So what the hell is the point of this report? We all knew performance enhancing drug use was somewhat widespread in the sport of baseball. It's not like the Mitchell Report provides an all inclusive list of users. If we knew the name of everyone who used, then the report could be beneficial..As is...I'm failing to see what benefit this provides...?
  12. This probably falls into the "nobody cares" category sans maybe a few SEC fans, but Auburn has hired a new offensive cooridnator, Troy offensive coordinator Tony Franklin. Franklin is known for his no-huddle, spread offense. Auburn has utilized primarily an I formation, smashmouth type strategy for the last decade (longer), so this will be a huge change. The new offense should be a great fit for the very athletic Kodi Burns who will take over for Brandon Cox at QB next year.
  13. Can you provide the link to the nikkansports page you're alluding to. Let me see if I can translate better. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.nikkansports.com/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=1&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dnikkan%2Bsports%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26pwst%3D1 My perception is the article is merely stating the Cubs have made the largest offer - 4 or 5 years 60 million.
  14. Honestly, I'd probably rather have Petrino over Tuberville, who was supposedly Arkansas's #1 candidate.
  15. Wow, totally didn't see that one coming. Arkansas comes out ahead of everyone this year in the coaching carousel contest. This is a great hire for the Razorbacks. Petrino's successor as Auburn's offensive coordinator, Al Borgess, resigned today. I wouldn't be suprised if he was offered a D1 head coaching job, although some believe he was pressured to leave after Auburn's sub-par offensive showing this year.
  16. so what would it take get Figgins?
  17. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/playerSplits?categoryId=388087 Thanks! He reminds me of a Mark Grace type hitter. Ethier is a decent player, but his K/BB ratio is not comparable to Grace's and that was Mark's defining characteristic in my opinion.
  18. I've been trying to get on their the last couple of days but you now have to be a member. Any of their insiders saying anything? Nothing really. Of course, the consensus there is that they want Hill + Pie for Roberts. If it's Gallagher, they want Gallagher + Pie + Patterson. I've learned since reading that board, that they expect a lot for their players. For what reason do you have an account on an Orioles message board? It's interesting to get perspectives from other teams' fans.
  19. I personally wouldn't have any problem with sending them Pie and a lower level pitching prospect. My perception is that Pie is not going to develop into an elite or even All-Star caliber hitter in the major leagues. I may be wrong.
  20. Before you put money down without looking, realize that was my personal spread. I read somewhere LSU is favored, I wanna say by 5 or 6. the emboldened wouldn't have occurred...I'm not touching touching this game with the line at LSU -6. I believe LSU will win, but it could very easily be by less than 6.
  21. I'm putting money on the OSU-LSU game with that spread...merry January to me. edit--I'm a wee bit intoxicated presently, but I'm pretty sure I'll have the same position on this tomorrow.
  22. I'm not excited about the Auburn-Clemson matchup....I understand the matchups were put in place based upon geography, but I'd much rather kick Mizzou's arse in the Cotton.
  23. Large size for emphasis. :pig: I'd put them in the NC game before Kansas, but neither deserve the opportunity.
  24. LSU-USC.....that's what I want to see.
