  1. espn 2 me thinks
  2. technically no, but their final game vs Michigan was for the title Right, but in every other conference they would have had to win that game plus another and look how that's working out for Missouri. Big East, Pac-10, and Big Ten all need conference championship games...... At least everyone plays each other in the Big East and Pac-10. Conference championship games sometimes matchup teams that played each other during the regular season. It's one more hurdle that Big 12, ACC, and SEC teams must face.

  4. Mizzou's biggest win was against Kansas whose biggest win was against Colorado. Neither Kansas or Mizzou should get a BCS bowl bid, but Kansas will play in the Fiesta.
  5. hmmm....so Mizzou-Auburn in the Cotton? I'd like that.
  6. they beat Colorado who beat Oklahoma who is beating Missouri again who beat Kansas ergo, they're better than themselves
  7. No legit wins. If you're gonna put a team in that didn't win it's conference, you go georgia I know you're trying to not be a complete homer but Kansas is more deserving than Georgia is. That's not to say Kansas is the most deserving out of all the teams for the 2 spot but they should get it before Georgia. Who the hell did Kansas beat?
  8. Virginia Tech has a more legitimate claim, considering the two games they lost were to ranked teams in LSU and BC. Oklahoma lost to Colorado and Texas Tech. LSU did beat Virginia tech 8737367737 to 3 though.
  9. I won't argue with this but it has happened twice in the last 6 years.
  10. Hopefully not. ....I'd be happy seeing Georgia or LSU play the Buckeyes. It really doesn't matter to me which of the two gets the opportunity...hopefully both won't be snubbed.
  11. I have no idea whether they are a joke or not....I am fairly certain they won't be playing for the national championship.
  12. So we may be looking at a Georgia-Ohio State NC game....
  13. The author is probably alluding to the recruiting battle that has insued post Saban-to-Alabama. Tuberville outrecruited Shula, Franchione, etc, but that is a tougher feat now that Saban is at the helm of U of A. That's Tuberville's position on this I assume, and that is why he is demanding an indoor facility comparable to Alabama's.
  14. There was a bit of a buzz around here yesterday about Tuberville potentially leaving Auburn to coach Arkansas or LSU. This probably isn't happening, and the report today is that he's using this as leverage (see below). Auburn likely will signoff on the new indoor facility from what I'm hearing. Also, Tuberville only needs to coach at Auburn for one more year to be able to draw retirement from the state of Alabama. I don't believe he's going anywhere. http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/cfb/entries/2007/11/29/will_auburn_get.html
  15. I'm pretty much the only Illinois fan saying it, but I'm pulling harder for Washington so we can go to the Sugar Bowl. That drive to New Orleans is a lot easier/cheaper than the flight to Pasadena. Plus, New Year's in New Orleans has to be insane. I went to NOLA for NYE twice during college. There will of course be several establishments that have 3 for 1 specials (although that can be said for most days on Bourbon), and there generally is some fairly snazzy live music lined up for that evening. Oh, I also went to the Sugar Bowl a few years back when an undefeated Auburn team beat Virginia Tech..stayed at the Hilton on the Riverwalk..good times.
  16. I knew that was coming! yes, that does make sense. thanks.
  17. Can someone explain to me why the bowls generally matchup SEC teams with teams from other conferences that are ranked higher within their conference? Thanks in advance. Outback (Big Ten No. 3 vs. SEC No. 3/4) AT&T Cotton (Big 12 No. 2 vs. SEC No. 3/4) Chick-fil-A (ACC No. 2 vs. SEC No. 5) AutoZone Liberty (C-USA No. 1 vs. SEC No. 6/7) Gaylord Hotels Music City (ACC No. 5/6/7 vs. SEC No. 6/7) edit - I do see one exception where the tables are turned: PetroSun Independence (SEC No. 8 vs. Big 12 No. 7)
  18. I'm not sure I'd be willing to guarantee Prior anything more than he's making presently. Any contract would need to be incentive laden.
  19. I don't believe this has been discussed yet but the terms of the bonuses were mentioned in the AP article. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3128280 If he finishes 55 games, I am willing to bet that he has performed at a level higher than Dempster did this past season. That's a fairly large incentive, and I'm hoping the Cubs only allow him to realize it if he is significantly better than mediocre. Dempster finished 58 games last year and 64 the year before. Yes, but would the Cubs have kept Dempster in that role if there were incentives in his contract that were similiar to incentives allowed in Woody's new contract? Per Cot's, Dempster can reach much smaller incentives (total of 2.5 million over 3 years), but they are based upon performance, winning a Cy Young Award, and winning the Rolaid's relief reward....not games finished. Are the Cubs going to allow Wood to close games all season if he's a mediocre closer?

  21. I doubt anyone on this board is going to enjoy this, but someone may want to steal the idea: http://www.aunews.net//flash/timer/SinceBamaWon.swf
  22. If West Virginia and Missouri win their conference title games, I'm not going to have a problem with them playing for the national championship.
  23. I'm curious if this move is for him to be a starter or a closer? I'm sure something was said along those lines during the negotiations. I assume the plan is for him to remain in the bullpen in 2008, but that's just speculation on my behalf.
  24. This is great news. Of course if he performs to the level that we desire, then he will again break the bank in 2009.
