    Having Dempster secretly listen in a conversation is definitely a touch shady, but I have to believe that many of the details of the negotiations would have gotten back to him one way or another. I wonder what the Dodgers are actually upset about here: the breach of etiquette, or the fact that Theo and Hoyer destroyed their privileged negotiating position.

    Players ares till cheap during their arbitration years. Unless you don't think Garza for $15.45 million the last two years wasn't cheap. Not the point.

    You think it's silly to wait an additional 10-11 days to get an extra full year of control? Yes. If Rizzo projects as expected, he'll be locked up long term regardless. We are the Cubs, not a small market team. But an "extra" year of control is worth millions of dollars. Millions of dollars is still something significant to the Cubs.
