He did have a huge May that helped keep his overall numbers looking good: .406/.483/.653. Other than that, September was his best month.

Perhaps the artist wanted to make sure it was waist-up and over corrected.

It seems like a completely preposterous deal to me, but I also know that fans are always behind the curve on free agent values. I think it's possible that he basically lives up to deal like Soriano did (without approaching Soriano's performance peak). Still, it doesn't seem like a good fit for the Padres.

I don't specifically recall the Harper comparison, but I believe it happened. Folks here were (understandably) really high on Castro and made a lot of optimistic predictions that he did not fulfill. One I recall is that Castro was "guaranteed" to be the next Jeter. Something along those lines. We said the same thing about Ronny Cedeno. I'll have to take your word for that, although the Cedeno enthusiasm almost certainly never reached the levels of Castro enthusiasm.

Agony and Ivy engaged your ideas seriously and explained in detail why he disagreed with them, and you completely ignored almost all of it. So if you weren't in this thread to seriously discuss ideas, how can you justify being so sanctimonious? It kind of seems like you're a person in a glass house who shouldn't have thrown stones.

I'm more upset now than then and by a lot. weird. i mean obviously i get it if you're literally referring to the fact that we won those games, but that was a much more egregious decision by maddon, IMO. Chapman in Game 6 was pretty baffling, but you don't *know* it will turn out awfully in Game 7. Yes, there were good reasons to doubt the move and people did as soon as it happened, but you can see a little bit of wiggle room. Going with Lackey in a high leverage spot so you have Wade for the save. . . just feels like such a fundamental error.

Go with Wade in the high leverage situation and deal with the remaining innings as they come. This is a rookie manager mistake. We were making fun of Dusty for this stuff just a few days ago.
