  1. Please hit the ball better, Cubs. That will make it easier to score runs.
  2. Hey, that's a whole extra pitch per batter. Not too shabby.
  3. It must really rankle you Dusty Busters that Dusty Baker is more successful than you'll ever be. He's better paid, more well-liked, probably had more and better gals then you, and when it's all said and done and it's in the history books he will be remembered as a good manager. And no one will remember you. And on top of this, he's ruining your Cubs. And he'll probably finish out his contract - your protests are going to go totally unheeded. la (laugh aloud), it's such a waste of energy! It's kinda sad, when I put it in these real life terms, isn't it? I feel for you. Me, I give Dusty credit when it's due, like with Neifi today, and I'd rather elevate than denigrate anyway, makes me happier. To point out every little flaw doesn't do it for me either. What it comes down to for me, is that when y'all can't even give credit to the guy when a move he makes turns out well, that's just sad. Oh, also, this is great http://www.northsidebaseball.com/archive/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29866&p=848659#p848659 I wonder what a guy like ZZ Thorn would think about the current state of the team. I feel like the Ricketts and this front office have given us everything we wanted for the Cubs. We've got a smart, analytical front office who tend to value the sorts of traits in players that we also value. They put together the best run in our lifetimes, and finally won the World Series. Does ZZ Thorn just accept these changes and enjoy them now that they've actually been made, or does he still favor the Dusty and Hendry approach?
  4. Hopefully Daniel Murphy dies screaming real soon.
  5. In a few years Russell will probably have a full lineup worth of kids. The Cubs should have a nice advantage when it comes to scouting them.
  6. To be fair, the lopsided nature of the season (under .500 at the break, and zooming out ahead afterwards) probably gave us a lot of room to feel frustrated. Even when the team is in the midst of a great second half run, there's probably enough residual irritation from the initial scuffling that I can imagine people not enjoying it enough.
  7. I think "ninnies" and "doom boner" are both fine terms with important distinctions between their ideal use cases. It shouldn't be one or the other.
  8. They're gonna continue to get saltier when the Cubs are once again the better team next year.
  9. Only right now? I bet is sucks extra hard. Losing their second extra inning game in a row against the Cubs after the sweep last series must be brutal. Don't get me wrong, I really love it.
  10. I like how the positive Heyward memes stay so much fresher than those for other players. That's one silver lining.
  11. That's probably true. But Cubs fans would be wise to point at his family and then slowly drag their fingers across their necks. You know, to encourage him to retire. Dude I know it's a joke. But it seems a bit much. Or maybe I'm just cranky this morning. Threatening Heyward's family, let alone over something as trivial as his contract, is obviously terrible. That's why it's a joke; because it's obviously a preposterous overreaction. I feel comfortable joking about it because I know its ridiculous and that it's not going to happen. I don't think the joke itself is obviously more distasteful than, for example, jokes about people who have actually been killed by drunk driving.
  12. That's probably true. But Cubs fans would be wise to point at his family and then slowly drag their fingers across their necks. You know, to encourage him to retire.
  13. Was Bartman with a group of fans? Maybe he means all the fans in that area who were reaching for the ball?
  14. This bulging melon is practically Jason Voorhees.
  15. I think it's pretty disappointing to see Maddon praising such a heinous, homophobic hate crime.
  16. What is a Paul DeJong? It sounds like a euphemism for erectile dysfunction.
  17. Ok. Thought he was with that last statement, but still poor word choice there. It was deliberately a preposterous thing to say. I loved the juxtaposition of Sammy's affected expertise and certainty against your actual, hard-won expertise, and I was trying to humorously draw more attention to it. I apologize for not making that clear. I hope you don't harbor any hard feelings, because I legit wanted to high-five you after you made your post.
  18. Boy, you must be really bad at being deaf to think "send him" is "game". Sammy said so earlier.
  19. I think "What a funky dame" is also a solid contender.
