    That's a dumb, jerky reason to dislike him, though.

    I know that a sacrifice hit is the same thing as a sacrifice bunt, but my point is that I think ESPN only tracks successfully completed sacrifices. It's not telling the whole story on Cubs sacrificing so this season.

    Even the stats on ESPN will track sacrifice hits by team. I don't think it tracks bunts attempted, though.

    No, just people who want to monitor everything said on this forum. Maybe people genuinely don't want to read negative overreactions to a single game. Maybe that's part of it.

    The yankees adjusted their offer, but the Cubs are still 20 to 30 million over the Yankees offer.

    Yeah but the front office also made a lot of noise about dual fronts and every season being precious. I think we've definitely seen less competitive desire from them at the majors than they promised.

    Olt for the reasons already articulated. Not a tough choice, in my opinion.

    I don't think anyone is doing that. Instead, I think people are drawing new conclusions from the additional data provided by this season. I don't know how appropriate it is to drop him out of the top ten, but I do know that I am not nearly as excited by his acquisition as I would have been at this point last year. Maybe I'm just feeling burned by Brett Jackson, but there are some major questions that need by addressed in terms of Olt's AAA performances before I would count on him to contribute to the Cubs.

    It's easy to come up with post hoc explanations for why a prospect struggled, but that doesn't make the explanation meaningful. While I hope the vision problem is the cause of the struggle and that it has cleared up, it's far from certain that Olt has all the skills necessary to be significant player in the majors. I think it's perfectly reasonable to question his status. It's also still perfectly reasonable to dislike Kyle, though.

    I like Garza quite a bit, but I like this trade even more. This seems like a really good move.
