  1. Its still, what, four appearances in five days?
  2. whew. I really thought that looked like the type of play where the pitcher throws the ball into right field foul territory.
  3. When it comes to creepy eyes, Ryan Doumit is the exact oppostie of Felix Pie.
  4. Jeez guy, enough with the deep fly-outs. Get this man some HGH
  5. Has Bob ever even had a pierogi? Every one I have ever had has been nothing short of delicious.
  6. While I too think Sean Marshall will be more useful stretched out, what makes me angriest about this move is how the front office and Lou make such reactionary decisions. Yeah, I realize the guy sucked the other day, but largely nothing has changed since spring training. He is the exact same player. If you though he should have made the team then, then you should still feel that way.
  7. I love how a line of .276/.315/.382 translates to an OPS+ of 119.
  8. I'll be damned. Good catch. And why does the graphic itself say it's the 1907 club, but champions for 1908? Perhaps its similar to how we refer to the previous years champion as the defending champion.
  9. How about Greene AND Roberts?! Sign me up for that.
  10. I am being serious. We are still in an era of baseball in which most teams still play for the "3 run homeruns" instead of playing baseball, with strategic moves, like bunting, hit and run, etc, etc. By moving the fences back, it makes organizations rethink, how they draft players, how they developed players, and which players to go after. It would force player, that if they want to play in the majors, they have to be more then adequate in the field, defensively, or you're a pinch-hitter. And by moving the fence back, it would separate the LEGIT power hitters, from the wannabes, who people might think are on the juice. In other words. That's the jist of people's problem with the DH. When the two leagues play, it would be like the NL having to be at a 1 hitter, or even 2 hitter disadvantage against the AL. I mean there are few NL teams that has a 1-8 lineup, and it's stacked. About 80% of the NL teams has atleast two below average hitters (.240 or below) in the lineup. Which means offensively, the AL would have and advantage of having two more hitters to use then the NL. Personally, I like to see the rule modified...let's say...no ONE player can be the DH for more then say 25 games during the season. Which means guys like Frank Thomas, David Ortiz, Jason Giambi, would be forced to have to improve their defensive games, or risk having to be pull for a defensive replacement late in the game. Ok, sure it makes them rethink just about everything, but how is forcing every AL team to rethink most of their player procurement and development strategies helping in any way? You come out with all the wild changes, but they really seem to be just change for change's sake.
  11. Our front office? Our manager's knee jerk reactions? I don't think I hate any team, but I definitely hate fans of some teams.
  12. Jason Heyward is the Braves top prospect anyways.
  13. And he reminds me of Ben Wallace, and I hate that guy.
  14. I usually hate adult autograph hounds, but I was absolutely giddly last year at the midwest league allstar game when I got to go on the field and get Clayton Kershaw, Jay Bruce and Brett Anderson to sign my program. I also got Chris Valaika, and while he is not nearly as awesome, he was by far the friendliest.
  15. I was super drunk at a party at EIU last weekend. There was a guy there wearing a cards hat and he was satisfied with the decision to send Rasmus to the minors because he thought Skip Schumaker is a good player.
  16. Also, unlike Soriano, Young's low obp was more a function of his low batting average than terrible plate discipline. Young's career minor league IsoD was close to .100. I think as he settles into the major leagues he will be at least a .260/.340 type guy, with power, speed and defense.
  17. Gun slow or Rich slow? I'll admit I haven't been paying super close attention, but the fastest reading I have seen on a Rich Hill fastball has been 87.
  18. Why would they name two differect characters xxxx-berry? It seems like they could have used a little more variety.
  19. Darin Erstad, hah. How is it that he has pulled the wool over so many people's eyes?
  20. It's amazing to me how a player can go through such a change over the course of one game. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't allow another run over the remainder of the season!
