  1. Bob sure is ill-informed when it comes to prospects.
  2. Homer Bailey is well on his way to no longer being a prospect. That is just plain incorrect. He was definitely overhyped a bit, and Cueto and Volquez have passed him up, but he is still a very good pitching prospect. (and the one big knock on him was his control, and what do you know, he has only 3 walks in 19 ip this year!)
  3. When mentioning Reds pitching prospects why in the heck would you talk about AA relievers, Josh Roenicke and Pedro Viola, and not Homer Bailey?!
  4. Why are the x-men as a whole in the pole? And yes to Gambit, he was definitely my favorite from the cartoon when I was a kid.
  5. umm, I believe Adam has done exactly what you have requested from him.
  6. Where are you getting your numbers? Per ESPN, I see: .283/.417 and an OPSA of .700
  7. I wish he would mention the dimension that Murton brings to the table of being a proven major league hitter. And shouldn't he say that EPatt plays 5 positions? I mean, leadoff is a position, right?
  8. Yep, that's it.
  9. He's walking through all this, at least. I can't even imagine what the lineup will be like if Lee, Ram, Fuk and Sori are all hot for a stretch at the same time. Not likely, but would be ricockulous How nice would it be to have Fukudome walking ahead of Derrek?
  10. I tried watching an AL game and it was just unwatchable to me. I love the huge box scores, I love the double switches, I love the strategy in the NL. Also, having the pitcher bat keeps the pitcher honest. If the difference to you is enough to make the AL unwatchable then I don't think you are that much of a baseball fan.
  11. Good. Not good when you consider that Murton's value is now lower than Marlon Byrd now. News flash. It has been lower than Marlon Byrd for quite some time. That's why the Rangers wouldn't make the trade. newsflash, rangers: Marlon Byrd's value isn't equal to Marlon Byrd's value.
  12. uh yeah, the pirates never in a million years had a chance at getting david wright for kris benson. Someone somewhere probably said the same thing about getting Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano. On a side note, in 2003 I was at a Daytona Cubs/St.Lucie Mets game featuring Scott Kazmir as the Mets starting pitcher and both David Wright and Geo Soto playing. I didn't recognize the awesomeness at the time, but looking back that is pretty neat. Someone that said that somewhere would have been a better gm than what the mets had going for them at that time. But, wasn't Kazmir really struggling to stay healthy and that was a big part of the reason the mets panicked and traded him? Wright was producing pretty much from day one. Scott Kazmir was just a prospect with four starts above A ball when they traded him. It didn't have much to do with health, is was more about a moron GM (Steve Philips maybe?) trading a stud prospect for a mediocre vet. David Wright had only had a handful of major league at bats at the time of the Ty Wigginton/Kris Benson swap.
  13. True, but no one has been arguing for stretching a double into a triple as the result of hustling. then remind me what's the point in hammering on Aramis for his double? Thinking you hit a homerun when it really is a double increases the chances you get thrown out at second. It is one of my pet peeves. Would your head explode if our team looked like this LF: Manny Ramirez CF: Ken Griffey Jr. RF: Barry Bonds 3B: Aramis Ramirez 2B: Alfonso Soriano SS: Alex Rodriguez 1B: Ryan Howard C: Mike Piazza No it wouldn't. We are not comparing one player with another. We are comparing what one player could do compared to what they same player could do if he ran harder. Cause about 30 throwing errors?
  14. .296 .365 .455 That looks like a pretty good fill in player to me. When you have a hitter like Murton in AAA, and the player who plays his position goes down, you START MURTON! This isn't rocket science, fellas.

  16. Lou made it sound after the game that Sori is likely to miss "a while" so methinks Murton will be at Wrigley tomorrow No, we're gonna do something stupid like call up Eric Patterson and anchor him to the end of the bench with Pie while Fontenot, DeRosa, and Reed Johnson play every day. good call! It wish I wasn't still surprised when this org. makes boneheaded moves.
  17. And a fourth outfielder should start over a utility infielder when one of the top three outfielders go down, no? Not calling up Murton is ridiculous. It had better mean a good trade is currently in the works.
  18. Lou made it sound after the game that Sori is likely to miss "a while" so methinks Murton will be at Wrigley tomorrow And I think that we might get an increase in production compared to what Sori has given us so far this year!
  19. This is the correct opinion.
  20. You are the one who keeps bringing it up, Vancey pooh. I'm pretty sure we've been told by mods to talk about it. It was a joke, and I wasn't "making fun of 4 year olds" I was "making fun of however old you are." A distasteful one? Yes. One I shouldn't have made? Sure. Did I remotely mean anything I said? Of course not. Grow a pair and stop bringing it up. You need to stop talking stuff idiots (yes, I am an idiot) on a message board say so seriously. Attack the post not the poster.
  21. Oh Boy, Dan Plesac struggles with forming coherent sentences.
  22. Given the fact that Sean Marshall is not really being used, and Matt Murton is definitely not being used, I would probably try a package of those two for Brignac. Not sure if that would do it, but if they are really interested in Murton, I would look for something along those lines.
  23. His statistics suffered last year, probably mostly due to moving from the California League to the Southern League. He is still pretty highly touted by the scouting community though. He went from the 17th ranked prospect to the 39th ranked, according to BA, so he slipped but he is still highly thought of. Hitting prospects tend to get overrated as they go through the Cal League imo.
