I don't see why you would pick Pujols, when you can pick a player who is dirt cheap, under team control for a long time at a price that is at least reasonable, plays a premium position and does not need surgery in the near future.
On top of his mind blowing offensive production, he also adds a lot of value defensively and on the base paths. I read an analysis of the MVP breakdown last year that had him head and shoulders above anyone else, when all facets of the game as well as value relative to position was taken into account. The dude is some serious good. (I wish I remembered where the article was; if I did I would surely post it here)
Dear Fred, Did you have a good view of Felix's deep foul ball? From my seat on the couch I could have sworn the ball passed behind the foul pole, making it a home run. Thanks
Besides the fact that you seriously under-rate Utley, its not really about what they are actually worth, its about what they are worth with respect to the market.
I guess Jason Marquis would be a possibility. Didn't someone say he was sent back to the hotel because he was feeling sick? Not that he wouldn't have had time to come back to the park by now... well that guy sure isnt a team player. thank god they aren't allowing Soriano to strike out on a ball in the dirt.
