  1. I am enjoying listening to JD thus far. Chemistry with Len is still developing, but thats to be expected.
  2. No reason to try and throw him out there. Smart to eat it.
  3. A mere mortal or left-handed Jesus? The choice is clear.
  4. You are probably right. Even if he is effective in a set-up role we will have to eat a good deal of his contract to get anything back for him.
  5. So it begins.... Not sure how I'd handle this, since you want to maintain his perceived value.
  6. Starlin smoother than a baby's bottom
  7. Luis swings like he is praying for contact.
  8. I predict he will have 280 this season (he should get a few days off).
  9. My math has his OBP at 3000 Jed & Theo's Magic Pixie Dust
  10. Wellington, we pay you to get on second, not get to get thrown out at third.
  11. Trade up to get Fisher.
  12. ESPN says that Stevens said "no thanks" to UCLA and will remain at Butler. Smart move, IMO, for the reasons I mentioned above.
  13. Wouldn't shock me if Smart is waiting out the UVA gig.
  14. Yup - he could be The Mark Few of the East. I wouldn't want the Duke or UNC jobs as a young coach who wasn't an assistant on K or Williams' staffs (ask Matt Doherty about that). UCLA is also a potential career killer. IMO, there are "safer" but still lucrative/prestigious jobs that could be out there, such as Wisconsin (which someone already mentioned). There are also plenty of cash-rich ACC and SEC schools that have decent hoops traditions and are in need of a facelift.
  15. Absolutely. Angelo solidified things with free agents in the mid-2000s, but that does not last. Emery already went through one draft ignoring the line, if he does it again this year then next season we'll be right back into the "pretty much forced to take a lineman in the first two rounds situation and then wind up overdrafting somebody" situation that Angelo found himself. Emery has understandably had to patch with free agency on the OL this season, but yeah...they need an OL in the first 2 rounds. After the two LB signings, I'm now guessing they go OL-WR-DL-OL-CB. I also suspect that Hester will traded for a 5 or 6 in 2014.
  16. The last regime had so much tied into the LB position that it negatively affected their ability to address other needs. I like filling LB with lower cost players. Look at what the Giants did in their Super Bowl year, they were running out street free agents that postseason. Their cap space went to pass rushers, DBs and the QB. Linebackers just don't impact the game enough to account for so much cap space. This (unless you are running a 3-4).
  17. Urlacher really comes off as an ass in all of this. His first proposal was 2 yrs / $12mill. He has concluded that the Bears think he can't play anymore because they wouldn't agree to the $3.5 mill-plus he eventually proposed. It's one thing to make a proposal knowing you are going to have to come down. It's quite another to make one that completely ignores reality. Urlacher's first proposal was the later, and it set the tone for the negotiations. Moreover, the Bears offered him a contract, which means they believe he can still play until he shows otherwise (Would they really bring him - the team captain and a long beloved Chicago sports figure - to camp and then cut him? What a season-long [expletive] storm that would be.). Point is Brian has an unrealistic view of his value as a football player at this juncture and it affected his judgment.
  18. Hes got the buzz right now. From what I've read he's crazy athletic and has a mean streak. Could make the Urlacher pill go down a lot easier. EDIT: Dude just enjoys hitting people: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5-T1T3YuyNY&feature=fvwrel
  19. Also prob means we are drafting one of the three 1st/2nd Rnd LB's. I like the kid from K State, personally.
  20. This was the right move. He's not worth 5 million anymore. I understand that is very hard for him to accept. He'll get over it (or he should). This happens to the best of em'. Even Ed Reed - who is probably only slightly less important to the identity of his now former franchise - is leaving his team with something in the tank. I will miss Urlacher, but its time to move fwd. I could see him winding up in Buffalo, Dallas, or even Denver. EDIT: the Raiders have to be absolutely drooling at the thought of signing him.
