  1. To be fair, I recall several folks still pining for Willis and Hill...
  2. I think I would prefer ARods next 5 yrs to Z's, but that is just me. I think it is more likely that Z will break down and not be worth the money he is likely to command.
  3. I have heard the Carr rumors and find those far more plausible. McNabb is the face of that franchise in the way that Urlacher is here, Favre is in GB, etc.
  4. I'd rather win. Me too. Just win bay-bay. Obviously I'd rather win. And if not playing Murton somehow increased their chances of winning, then I'd be all for it. I just don't see the correlation. And I am not certain that there is a correlation between Murton and winning. I like Murton more than I like Floyd and would prefer he get the lion's share of ABs, but I am not certain he holds the key to the season.
  5. I'd rather win. Me too. Just win bay-bay.
  6. The returns of Tommie Harris and Dusty Dvoracek should negate any need for additional tackles next season. If they are healthy. But that's a pretty big matzoh ball we are leaving out there if our starting tackles are Tank and Boone. I'd get one more to be sure. Oh, and let's get the Fire Ron Turner bandwagon rolling please.
  7. IMO, an O-Line makeover is priority no. 1. Its tough to hit the open receiver from your backside. Watch how much better Grossman will look when we get two tackles and at least one guard (Garza was horrible) who can actually pass block. I also advocate increased depth on the D-Line. Ian Scott is a nice 3rd or 4th tackle, but with Harris' injury and Johnson's uncertain future, we need at least one more DT. I am also very disappointed in our DEs, though that may be function of how bad the tackles were without Harris. I would at least consider releasing Adewale and signing and drafting help at that position. Assuming that Cedric is healthy, Jones could be traded for help in this dept. I really believe that these are the two priorities. Our corners are solid and we have depth at the position. I'd love greater depth at LB and at the safety position (depending on Brown's health), but to me these are secondary to being dominant on the O and D lines.
  8. Context matters. Here is context I wish to see in the future: "Cubs are 07' WS Champs". I don't care how they do it - with a 60 mill payroll or a 200 mill payroll - so long as it is within the rules of the game. Just win baby.
  9. I don't know that I agree on that part. There are plenty of people investigating baseball cards for the profit of turning a buck that couldn't care less about said team or organization. Obviously this guy cares about the Cubs. Maybe, but perhaps he has no clue about any other org. I know plenty of people who know nothing about their fave teams other then the 25 guys on the ML roster and the manager. That was me as a youngster, and yes, I loved and obsessively collected baseball cards at the time. Your argument that b/c he collects cards he must be more than a 'casual fan" is weak. I am constatntly surprised at how much detail many on this bd know about minor league systems. If I ask a question that reveals my ignorance about the Cubs farm system (for example, "Why did Hendry trade Sisco to KC?" (FYI: I know that in fact he was Rule V draftee)), I am an idiot in your book?
  10. I think it's absurd that a guy who would take the time to write in to the Cubs internet based Q&A wouldn't be able to figure that out on his own. Nobody has ever said anything about that ever. Did he really think he stumbled across this nugget? That tells me he's completely oblivious, and deserving of ridicule. He is a casual fan, goony. Jeez, give him a break.
  11. The Bears also played the easiest schedule in the NFL, whereas the Colts had a middle of the pack strength of schedule... and the Bears' strength of victory was in the bottom third of the NFL, whereas the Colts' strength of victory was 4th in the NFL. Yup. The Bears have no right to be in the Super Bowl. Where's the AP Poll when you need it? Get over yourself. Truffle's making a case for Indy being a better team over the course of the year than the Bears (a case I find hard to argue with although I am also picking the Bears to win), not that the Bears have no right to be there. Recognize the difference before you make posts like that. It's called sarcasm. Dry your eyes. It's been near impossible to tell the sarcasm from the genuine anger considering some of the discussions I've seen this playoffs. Especially those argumnents about how good the Panthers are and how they will eventually eclipse the Bears. Oh, wait....
  12. I seriously doubt that made a lick of difference. Do the Bears D have to get taunted to play hard and effective? No, but did Urlacher have to completely blow up Marques Colston on that incomplete pass? I think part of that hit was just Urlacher having some fun and unloading some anger on the closest target to him. No, but I am glad that he did. When they slowed it down on replay you couyld see that he hit Colston hard enough to jar his head to the side. Good stuff.
  13. I thought the Bears spent themselves a bit in the first quarter and were back on their heals when Bush scored the TD. After Bush taunted Urlacher, somersaulted into the end zone, and then did his best Chad Johnson impression (a total of 3 taunts), I think that the D was re-energized. OMC: I don't know why this is a bad thing.
  14. Geez, I remeber Vern pitching when I was a kid. He picthed a good long time. Sorry to see him go.
  15. BEAAAARRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Key to the game was stopping the running game and asserting our own. I am so damn excited I can barely contain myself. Its been 20 long years.
  16. I'm going to Kinkos to frame this post! Glad I am not the only one who caught that. I am really excited about this. Its nice to have some unadulterated good news for once. I'd like to adulterate it by saying it's absolutely absurd that he gave him a no-trade clause. Curse you - I didn't see that. Oh well, its Friday and I am going to drink tonight, so screw it. I hate ND, but I officially love Jeff.

  18. If that's your lineup, your manager should be sent to the firing line. I didn't realize you guys had a Dusty Disciple filling out your lineup card. Duffy, Paulino, Freddy, LaRoche, Bay, Nady for the first six with the pitcher, Wilson, and Castillo sharing the final three slots in any order makes alot more sense IMO. Wilson has a career OBP of .306, and should be a #8 hitter on most teams, maybe #7 on some. There's no excuse for him to ever sniff the number two spot on any team. Agree, mostly. Remember, these are the same people who thought Freddy was a utility player (Check out how he did in '05 once he became an every day player.) My lineup would be Duffy, Freddy, Laroche, Bay, Nady, Paulino, bautista, Jack. I'd go: Freddy LaRoche Bay Nady Paulino Bautista Wilson Get two good hitters ahead of Bay, your best hitter.
  19. Dude, Eyre and Ohman are worth a ton right now. Do something Jim!
  20. That's not a bad deal for LOOGY in this mkt. I'd trade Eyre now.
  21. Did you say something?
  22. I can hear Otis Wilson in my head: "Bear weather! Bark bark bark!!!!!"
  23. I don't think he looks like that at all. I don't see why he can't continue to develop patience at the plate along with a good approach. Those things can be taught and developed through hard work and good coaching. He may not have raw power, but I wouldn't mind another Grace-type if he is surrounded by power guys.
