  1. Tomas will be this team's Kent Mercker, we'll have an appreciation thread for him by July, and you'll all be eating your words! Book it! Just kidding.
  2. Sounds encouraging. If he continues to improve his patience at the plate he looks like a .375-.400 OBP guy. ETA 2009 or 2010?
  3. What's the lineup for the other half of the games that O'Neal is hurt for? Don't hate, Cavs fan. Your bias is transparent.
  4. O'Neal wants out of Indy. Story Hmmmmm.... F: O'Neal (acquired for Gordon, Sweetney and the Bulls' No. 1) F: Noc C: Wallace G: Deng G. Hinrich  We'd win the East in a walk with that lineup.
  5. Your acronyms confuse me. I just saw PSU starts a series with Alabama in 2010, that should be pretty cool. I wish more Big Ten teams would play SEC teams during the reg season. As a Mich. fan, I am sometimes embarassed by the lack of non-midwest teams on their schedule, though they do play Oregon at home next season. the 08', 09', 10' non-conference gigs are still open.
  6. He saved my fantasy squad a few times recently.
  7. Big sigh of relief. Those sons of bitches!
  8. "You don't offer me friendship or loyalty. You don't even think to call me Godfather..."
  9. Wow, his OPS is lower than I thought.
  10. I also thought Lawton would be better. Jason just seems like the classic AAAA guy.
  11. Man does JaMarcus Russell's build look just like Daunte Culpepper's or what? Its uncanny.
  12. Dude, is that Bradshaw in the booth? This could be a long 3 hrs.
  13. Rex has a starter's physical tools and a rookie QB's mentality. Only time and experience can change that, IMO. Question is, can we hang in there and wait in today's NFL?
  14. Is the Ok marching band performing Fat Bottom Girls and Bohemian Rapsody? Geez, and they thought Janet and Justin were offensive.
  15. Holy cow is tha Barry Switzer I see? I didn't even realize he still left the house. And does anyone else recognize the irony of the pairing of halftime show analysts?
  16. I think that's flat out incorrect.
  17. Don't start celebrating yet, Pete.
  18. I'm so tired of Lloyd Carr's bullheaded crap. The run is not working. How about trying something else for once? Is it really that big a surprise that Michigan isn't being successful when they're only calling about 5 different plays? Stupid Michigan. As a long-time Mich fan, I heartily agree. Also, you can't expect the defense to hold up all day against an offense as talanted as USC's when you do nothing to help them. BTW, Musberger is so far up USC's a** he can barely see the field. What good thing could he possibly say about Michigan's play today? Not the point - he is waxing poetic about all things USC. And BTW, Mich's D has not been as bad you have asserted. They have been on the field against a very good offense far too long.

  20. Me either. I wonder if it would be better for Johnsons career to be a closer instead? Maybe, but I would bet he'd rather have his toenails pulled out one at a time.
  21. Again, my first-hand observations: 1) The D has become a bend-but-don't break outfit, illustrating just how important Harris really is to putting pressure on the QB. They looked pretty good against the run, but didn't put nearly enough pressure on Favre. I think it important to note that the D (including the second unit) allowed only 10 points last night (plus a FG after Grossman gave GB another short field). 2) Grossman was horrendous, but the O-Line was equally bad. They had better get things straightended out within the next two weeks (particularly Tait; that was the worst game I have seen him play). 3) Griese looked as bad as Rex, only he has a weaker arm. He does have greater pocket "sense" and looks more comfortable than Rex, however. 4) The fans were chanting for Kyle, then for Maynard after the fake in the 2nd half. 5) The Cover 2 can't defend slant routes unless the 4-down lineman put ample pressure on the QB. Favre must have thrown to a dozen different slant routes last night. 6) Cedric Benson could be Larry Johnson. He's looked amazing in-person.
  22. I know. With Rex though, something like this might shake his confidence enough that even if he *does* have protection in the divisional playoff he still might be off. I'm real worried. But oh well, time to take a chill pill. It's just a game. If we blow it, we blow it. I would just like to see a good gameplan this year that is tailored to our opponent, instead of last year leaving the best WR in the league 1 on 1 against CBs who couldn't start in NFL Europe. The key will be the O-Line. If they protect Rex, we'll be fine. The D looked pretty good at times, though they gave Favre too much time to throw during much of the 1st half. They aren't what they were with Harris and Brown (dominant); they can still dominate at times, but I think they are more a bend-but-don't-break crew now. And, BTW, Benson needs to start...now. The next time Jones runs fwd rather than laterally will be an improvement.
  23. I was at the game, and I dunno if you guys could tell from t.v or not, but Lovie was correct. Rex was horrible, and Griese was only slightly better, but the O-Line did them no favors. Rex barely had a pocket to step into, and Tait was beaten badly several times, most noticeably on the play that led to Rex's second pick (he'd have been better off just eating the sack). Its tough to make good throws when large men are running unchecked at you.
  24. I think Hendry got one piece of the puzzle correct - he built solid depth in the system (particualrly at the lower levels). However, he didn't know when: a) to trade guys when their value was highest (Juan Cruz being Ex A, in my mind); and b) how to protect and develop the three-five guys that you need to be cornerstones of a winning franchise (like the Yankees did in the ealry nineties with Williams, Pettite, Rivera, etc.). Additionally, if he had intended to utilize the prospects, he made a poor hire in Dusty. Maybe he understands that now, and realizes it will take three years to rebuild the systems, by which time Lou should be done or close thereto.
