  1. I fully expect the knicks to win the lottery so we won't have to worry about that ;) From your mouth to g-d's ears, my friend.
  2. Just curious: I was thinking about Durant this morning in so much as he has probably played his final college game. Would you trade Deng, a No. 1 this year and a future No. 1 (probably in 08') to the team that wins the lottery this year in order to draft Durant? I am not saying I would, just curious what others think.
  3. Plus, for whatever reason, you can alway sspin off a lefty reliever to another team and get something back.
  4. Meh. I have read this book already.
  5. Aardsma for Cotts = Garbage in, garbage out. BFD.
  6. I am starting to feel better about some of my earlier reservations where Lou is concerned. I especially like his comment about Cotts in today's paper.
  7. I have no idea what MOT stands for. But, then again, I have no idea what Mott or Hoople stand for, either. I think MOT stands for Member of the Tribe, or Jew. That's the only meaning of "MOT" from Urban Dictionary that seems to fit. Got it. Did you know that former Cubs relievr Miguel Batista was the last Jew (IIRC) who suited up for them? Of course, I guess this where that joke from "Airplane" comes from..
  8. Sometimes those jerseys can deceive you, but he sure looks skinny to me. Wish I had his weight problems. I have to eat like a bird to stay below 200, and I still haven't lost the center portion of my gut.
  9. I guess I have been asleep during the offseason, but when did Sing and Montanez go to Balt?
  10. Still upset about Adam's fate - coulda' been the first MOT on the team in a long time (that I know about, anyway). (let me know if you don't know what "MOT" stands for)
  11. I think Miller may win out, but only b/c Guzman still has options.
  12. Teams definitely conduct try-outs. I went to an Orioles try-out my senior year of high school. I highly doubt they have a walk-on sort of thing. Willie Mays Hayes might disagree.
  13. And whats stopping you? Fred McGriff? Perhaps Abe isn't really who he says he is. Maybe he's wearing a leather jacket and sweater vest.
  14. Didn't see this posted anywhere, so feel free to delete if necessary... ESPN 1000 here in Chi-town is reporting that Theriot has been told by Lou that he will be on the ML roster when the club heads north. Theriot confirms. Congrats, Ryan! You deserve it!
  15. First Federer loses, and now this.... :)
  16. I get Carolina, Georgetown, and Texas, but who is the 4th? No way is Washinton State one of the top 10 teams. I had them #7 when we were ranking the tourney teams. I agree here - Vitale was saying Vandy will bounce them, but I watched them against UCLA this year and I don't see them bowing early - they are ticketed for the Sweet 16, IMO. I know they got 6 bids, but this is a very top-heavy year in the Pac-10, IMO. USC is here and there as they showed against Oregon, and AZ is incredibly undisciplined. I still cannot believe that Stanford (or the Illini) got in over Drexel. UCLA, Wash St, and Oregon are the class, IMO. Along those lines, I really believe that Lute Olson is an overrated coach. He's old, he's won a national title, and he recruits well (and supposedly clean, but I have my doubts based on stories I heard about their national title team), but if he doesn't have off-the-charts talent he doesn't do anything of note (look at the names on that national title team as examples). I think this is b/c his teams are undisciplined goons and he isn't much of an X's and O's guy. Contrast this with Howland at Pitt and UCLA, Self at KU (though I am thinking of his Tulsa days), and even Knight at TT (and some of his later years at IU). I think (and I know this is biased b/c I am a UNC fan) Roy Williams belongs in that group as well, given how he reigned in the three nut-jobs (McCants, May and Felton) and won a title, then quickly re-loaded when all of them plus Marvin Williams all left.
  17. Yes, but can he read? What's the indication with early entrance for Rush and Wright? Is Wright for sure gone? Is Rush staying another year? Wright has said since he got here he was staying for three years (he's on track to graduate in 3.) He has consistenly reaffirmed that. But with a deep tourney run...? Who knows. I think with a good tourney showing Rush is definitely gone. Other than that, it probably depends on his draft projection. If he's a guaranteed 1st rounder, I think he'll probably go. And yes, he can read. He reminds me a lot of Deng in terms of his build and athletic ability. I really had not seen him play very much until yesterday and came away very impressed.
  18. UNC has 2 more losses and is 7-3 in it's last 10. UF has one more loss, is also 7-3 in their last ten, including one loss to a non-tourney team. They also lost to KU head-to-head. The SEC is only marginally better than the big XII. KU is on a 11 game winning streak. Only one loss to a non-tourney team all season. And anyone who watches any games knows they're playing better than both UNC and UF. If you want to give UNC a higher 1 seed due to playing in the ACC, then whatever. The UF is inexcusable. I get what you are saying, but I think UNC has a far more difficult road than KU.
  19. I'm familiar with that name. He was previously head coach at Umass, replacing John Calipari when he left. Correct, and he is a good coach.
  20. Wright State won their conference tournament. Sorry - confused. Nevermind - I edited the above. Oh, and Xavier got in as well.
  21. Blue Jays will win, IMO.
  22. I find it funny that some of you are screaming that some in the press are ACC homers, yet all most of you do is complain about how major and mid-major schools from the Midwest aren't getting enough respect. I find this amusing b/c: a) it is incorrect, IMO; and 2) most of you are from the Midwest, and thus are also being "homers". I wouldn't have a problem with this other than the fact some of you are casting stones. Examples of respect for Midwest teams: 1) Butler getting a 5 in spite of getting absoluetly wiped out by WI-GB; 2) SIU gets a 4 seed, showing them the respect they richly deserve; 3) IL got in over eastern teams like Cuse and Drexel. EDIT: 4) Wright St got in. BTW, Danes get the VA Cavs in the first round on Fri in Columbus.... GO DANES!
  23. As hilarious as Seth saying Bill Self will win the championship. Bill Self...pffft. that'll be the day. Yeah those Jayhawks are supremely untalented.
  24. Just curious... What have you seen from Illinois this year against a quality team that has led you to believe that they would win "pretty easily"? well, to be fair, his name is Prior4CyYoung...maybe he lives in an alternate dimension? Prior - have you even seen Tech play?
