  1. I'd like to note for the record that Sully smiled in this thread. A rare but welcome occurrence.
  2. Calipari's enormous ego will cause cause him to gravitate to Lexington. It is inevitable.
  3. Far more likely that Cedeno gets moved to SF, IMO.
  4. I love Mark's drive and confidence, but based on Lou's commentary to this point, he appears to be the King of Fantasyland.
  5. This is interesting: http://www.espn.com
  6. Good for Tubby. One national title and consistent NCAA appearances wasn't enough for the fans at UK b/c they have nothing else to root for.
  7. Farnsworth deal not looking so great right now.
  8. Pfff. You guys are all way off. http://www.imgspeakers.com/_images/speakers/MorganJoe2.06-Headshot.jpg Got em'!!! Stupid Cubs fans!!! I am the greatest second baseman who ever lived!! Sandberg is a joke!!! I am able to enunciate a coherent thought once for every 5 broadcasts I participate in! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!!!!"
  9. I think that Manning to a CB role makes sense down the road if we don't keep both Vasher and Tillman. Sheesh I really like everything they are saying here. If we retain Brown and move Manning to CB, then we are 4 deep at CB. Much easier to find a serviceable backup saftey than a serviceable backup at CB, IMO. Plus I love the idea of Hester on offense.
  10. Repeat after me, Mr. ARod: "Please trade me to the Cubs, Mr. Cashman...I want to be in Chicago on the Northside, Mr. Cashman...."
  11. If the issue is whether or not they reasonably have the "ability" to spend more, MLB could theoretically implement a salary floor and force such GMs to either comply or sell their team. I'm not sure how many owners of low-budget teams would fail to be able to comply. Some may not want to, but it's within their means. That's very different from what I saw you post earlier, which I thought referred to the owners' overall wealth as opposed to the the team's financial situation. These are two different things. Just b/c you won a team and have sustantial wealth doesn't mean you should fund the payroll out of your own pocket when the team itself doesn't have the money. That's bad business.
  12. Agreed. His mug shot doesn't look that bad actually. He looks better than he normally does. I had heard during his years in Chicago that he had a drinking problem, not on Billy Martin's level, but still.
  13. That'd be awesome. RynoRules will be mentioned on the Citation Page with a link to this thread. Rules, R. (2007). Re: (Opinions) Baseball & A Salary Cap. Retrieved March 21, 2007, from viewtopic.php?t=39235. Or did you want MLA? There have been articles about profit and wealth of major league owners. Shouldn't be that hard to find. Baseball teams are for-profit entities. Why would you spend money if aren't making any. Should the owners take the money out of their personal pockets, in your opinion?
  14. Link? Who are you going to cite for this? Jay Mariotti? I was thinking the same thing. Unless you have the numbers to prove that point, that is (i.e., the balance sheets of all the ML teams).
  15. Good for Houston, getting a QB and all, but who is going to keep him up-right behind that crappy O-Line? Carr is getting shafted here, IMO. I'd like to see some of these front office guys take the punishment he has, and (apparently) without complaint.
  16. Salary cap would prevent lesser GMs from overspending, thus forcing all involved to spend in a more wise manner. Salary floor would force franchises like KC and TB to spend and perhaps become competitive in the process.
  17. Yep. Me too. I dunno if Archuleta is really an answer for us, but I don't mind giving up only a 6th rnd pick for him. Am I wrong in saying that he isn't much of a play maker?
  18. I like Schaub , but don't get why the Texans would do this deal when they could draft someone like Drew Stanton instead and not have to worry about giving him starter money. Schaub will want an extension.
  19. How is this thread any more unnecessary than any other? There are people here that didn't even know he had options. Get real! I figured, but didn't know. Thanks 98'. I like this thread.
  20. If DeRosa tanks with a .405 OBP then I will be very happy. Its ST. That's see what happens in the reg season. If DeRosa stinks on all levels my guess is that Lou will bench him and give Theriot a shot.
  21. I like Lou so much more than Dusty that its not even funny.
  22. I could live with that OPS if he's putting up his .355 career OBP, or better yet, the .365-.367 he had in 2004, 2005 and 2006. Seconded. Who cares if all he does is walk and get singles. We have other guys to get extra base hits.
  23. Thanks, Tim. I know you have things to do that, oh, I don't know, you actually get paid for.
