  1. Proud UAlbany Alum!!! GO DANES!!! In the Dance for the second straight season after upsetting the VT!! http://www.albany.edu/sports/mens/basketball/images/front-photo.gif
  2. Rome is hip?
  3. I'm fine with that. Someone should be planting a new bug in Hendry and Steinbrenner's ear everyday. Man I would love to see this lineup: Soriano Murt ARod Lee ARam Jones Barrett DeRosa Northside Murderer's Row.
  4. A-Rod talk won't go away. Dan patrick is at Cubs camp and is raising it again, and no doubt will do so when he interviews Piniella later on ESPN Radio;.
  5. Briggs has conveniently forgotten the 6 yr, 33 mil offer that the Bears made last Spring. I would bet at least 15 mill of it was guaranteed, which is the really big issue in NFL contracts. That would have given him the security he is now seeking. I would also bet that he is seething over the deal that Porter got from the Phins, but he has no one to blame but himself. If he had gone to Angelo and said, "I really would prefer to work out a long-term deal with you or be traded", rather than this public ultimatim (remember who his agent is?), I would bet that Angelo would at least try to take care of him. But now he has put Angelo in a tough spot now.
  6. I agree, particularly re Wally, who has been a major disappointment, IMO.
  7. And here's a complete overreaction to the deal by Steve Rosenbloom, and David Haugh. Wow-those are overreactions. It sounds like what the Chargers papers said last year when Brees was let go, or when the Colts haven't spent anything in free agency the last few years and have been ripped for it each time. Obviously it worked out for both those squads-this is probably the best move for the Bears as well-with the way both of them were unhappy, you really had to trade one of them. For Rosenbloom, overreaction is pretty standard fare. Haugh is usually pretty grounded though, so I'm a little disappointed in his column. You are being too kind to Rosenbloom. he is a flat-out idiot.
  8. Moving up the equivalent number of spots that the Bears moved would essentially cost a late 2nd or early 3rd round pick. The Bears basically traded Benson for a late 2nd or early 3rd, and then traded that pick and their 2nd to move up. I don't think he got hosed. 2nd round draft picks are extremely valuable trade chips. I guess this is where I would make a lousy NFL GM, I woulda helpd out and made the Jets pay more, if not, make Jones play angry. Whattya think we can get for Briggs now that he is pissed off? I don't know, but if it's just exchanging a pick? I'd let Briggs sit. All year if necessary. Hell, I'd franchise him over & over and let him sit forever if all I'm going to get for him is an exchange of 15 draft positions. can you actually do that? franchise a player year after year? not a bad option here. I am abit pissed w/Briggs. The offer the Bears gave him last year was a fair offer I think. Maybe the Bears new 2nd rd pick will be one to replace Briggs... I believe there is no limit for non-QBs, but obviously the player's salary will increase exponentially based on the avg of the top 5 salaries at his position.
  9. If we trade up and get Landry I'll pee myself. He is a sure-fire stud, and based on some of the film I have seen of him he is one mean s.o.b. that enjoys hitting people. I love him.
  10. Thomas was a hard workin' guy with ridiculous ripped arms, and he was very productive. That said, he has had a large workload over the last 3 seasons, is going into his 8th year, and is nearing 30. RBs tend to get a bit rundown at his level, he wanted an extension, and when the Bears (correctly, in my view) would not give one he demanded a trade. I am hoping this is the first in a series of moves, perhaps into the top ten of the first round. At the least, Jerry sees two players he likes (which could also mean that Briggs is a goner for sure). If so, who might we be targeting?
  11. They are very limited inside and have several players who have difficulty getting their own shot (Scheyer, McRoberts, etc.).
  12. Will "Bad" Ohman Kerry "Balsa" Wood Mark "Wake up and smell" DeRosa
  13. Well, they won't be a top 15 team now with that conference record when the polls come out today-and I don't think any serious bracketologist has them as a 3 or a 4 seed either. CBS Sportsline has them as an 8 and ESPN has them as a 7. I think you have to wait and see how t7hey play in the ACC Tourney. if they goo out in the first two rounds, they will be a 6 or 7, IMO. But if they win the tourney, they couyld be as high as a 3, I'd wager. BTW: Jon Scheyer? OVER-RATED!
  14. If he really does not wish to negotiate at all in the future, I'd trade him for a first and 3rd in this year's draft.
  15. I saw that info about Jeff's slider and fastball this morning while reading the paper and nearly fell out of my chair.
  16. Damn. I wanted the Raiders to sign Garcia in hopes that it would make them rethink their decision to draft Russell #1 overall. Oh well. That's quite a 180 by you. I argued a couple of months ago that the Raiders should trade down and get more picks. You told me I was cur-ray-zee.
  17. Go Heels! I certainly am hoping they meet Duke again in the ACC Tourney... Mr. Henderson ought to bring security with him. Psycho T will be looking for some pay back, bizzo.
  18. Sheesh look at that extension and swing. I wonder of Lou is right about him and he could have a big-time break-out year in terms of power nos.
  19. Carlos Lee
  20. I would trade him for a first and a third. As long as they got someting very substantial, I wouldn't be that upset. Ditto. Don't forget that he was 3rd rounder himself, IIRC.
  21. As a UNC fan I am pretty disappointed in how they are finishing, though they can save some major face in my book by defeating Duke on Sun (thus sweeping them) and getting to the finals of the ACC Tourney. However, unless a couple of other Top Tens fall early in their tourneys, I think the Heels have played themselves out of a one seed. BTW, illiniguy, this is the deepest the ACC has been in years. That's not to say the Big Ten isn't also very good - it is. But the ACC's middling teams would put a hurt on their counterparts from the Big Ten, IMO.
  22. We need prospects across the board on the line. I'd even like to see them go after a young center. I think this line would disintigrate without Kreutz right now. And going into his 10th year, with an already declining performance (I'm not saying he's bad by any stretch, just not the stud he once was), they should find an heir apparant ASAP. I agree. Kruetz, I think, gets by far more on effort and guts that an in the past, and I think he began to show signs of age at the end last season. Remember, he had never played any where near that long before in his career.
  23. I think we desperately need an OT prospect. Miller and Tait were matadors when asked to pass block towards the end of last year.
  24. FYI, ESPNsees the Bears pursuing only one of the 30 or so top FAs this offseason:
