  1. Let's see if Boomer wakes up and tells us what the trade is. WOW!!! Its confirmed!!!!
  2. Holy cow that's quite a booty! Nice job by Jerry.
  3. Bears traded down to 62. I can only hope we also got SD's 3rd rnd pick; I don't believe we had one of our own previously.
  4. That's simply not the case if he's used correctly. I don't understand why people seem so unwilling to believe this. I don't buy the situational pitcher notion - it causes teams to carry too many pitchers. I'd rather have guys who can - heaven forbid - get guys out from both sides of the plate. I don't think Lou buys it either, and I loved seeing Dempster get a 5 out save last night.
  5. I think the Bears will deal 31 to the Browns for their no. 2 and no. 3. That'd be a nice deal. I still think it would be tough to pass on Quinn though. If Grossman doesn't pan out this season, we don't have a franchise QB, unless you're a real big fan of Orton. Then use the extra second rnd pick on Trent Edwards or John Beck. I like Beck quite a bit.
  6. Dallas, Jacksonville and Baltimore are the biggest threats to take him before then I think. I think only the Ravens are a threat in that respect, and I still wonder whether Billick has lost his taste for rookie QBs after the Boller fiasco.
  7. I think the Bears will deal 31 to the Browns for their no. 2 and no. 3.
  8. Broncos still have another 3. I think that is a good deal for them. Moss reminds me of Jevon Kearse.
  9. Damn - I was hoping that Moss would fall to the Bears.
  10. I like Quinn more than Russell from the standpoint that he clearly did well with far less talent around him, and QBs tend to get too much of credit and too much of the blame and in a game as team-oriented as football. Denver just traded up to the Jags spot.
  11. Izturis's defense isn't good enough to warrent that kind of offensive liability. The least they can do is give Theriot some time out there to prove his critics wrong. Yeah, and Lou has more or less benched Izturis in the last week or more. Anyone else want to compliment Lou for doing so? (besides me)
  12. Ohman stinks and he doesn't get people out.
  13. I still don't like that deal with the Skins. I'd want more - either the young LB (Mcintosh) or their 3rd Rnd pick in 08'. And trading Lance for the 6th pick doesn't save as much money as you might think, b/c a guy like Landry or Okoye is likely to command a sizeable guranteed signing bonus. This seems to be a draft with a great deal of depth. If they do pick up the 6th pick in exchange for Lance, I'd like to see them spin it off for more picks in the second and fourth rnds.
  14. Questioning his toughness makes no sense, IMO. Questioning whether he is injury prone or overused makes far more sense.
  15. When I saw him speaking, I thought there was a lot of tension between he and Prior. I'd guess Prior and his people think the Cubs are to blame for much of his problems, and Hendry blames Prior for all the problems the Cubs have had. That's a pretty baseless and hyperbolic statement. I sincerely doubt that Hendry blames Prior for all of the Cubs problems over the last several years. He might be frustrated with Mark's approach.
  16. I would absolutely bring Prior back cheaply to see if he can take a couple of years to regain form.
  17. So perhaps the next 12 games might be the season? That largely will depend on what other teams in our division do over the same period. Unfortunately, the Cubs haven't played well enough to control their own destiny, at least at this very early point. Again, I don't think a season is over until at least Memorial Day.
  18. And more than one season has ended in April. I'll never understand why Cubs fans get so uptight when other Cubs fans start to panic after a horrible start to the season. And I'll never understand fans who: 1) Give up on a 162 game season after less than 20 games; and 2) People who, b/c they themselves are uptight, accuse others of being uptight.
  19. That thing about the offense avging 5.5 runs per game over the last ten is grossly misleading. Who cares what your avg is when your game by game looks like this: 1-12-4-2-8. If they avged 5.5 and actually scored 5 or 6 runs in each game, then they would be winning.
  20. I don't think any team's fate is remotely clear until Memorial Day or thereabouts. We've been in every single game sans one, IIRC, which is a good sign. Lou is playing with the lineup and relievers in an attempt to find out what he has. We may have seen the last of Mr. Miller, blissfully. The starting pitching sans Miller has been very good, and Hill looks like a stud so far. The hitters have been inconsistent at best, but there is enough depth there to see a turn around, IMO. Let's let things shake out a bit before we go all Chicken Little. If they are 10 under at the end of May then I think its time to face-up to what this team is (in)capable of. Just my two cents.
  21. I think it has more to do with the Cubs' offense randomly and repeatedly deciding to forget to show up. QFT
  22. Your later statement could prove to be correct. Your former statement indicates that you are no more than 15 yrs old.
  23. Except Des Moines on Monday. I have a bad feeling you are right about this. Didn't you watch the 10th inning? Murton is going to be the CF from here on out. :^o Yeah!!!! When the Cubs start making roster moves I usually think what would make the least amount of sense. Like sending down Guzman the other day. What move would make the least amount of sense now? You think sending down Guzman so he could replace Miller made the least amount of sense? If thats the goal great!!! I have seen that posted here quite abit but haven't heard anything from the Cubs thats what they are going to do. Then you haven't been reading the papers.

  25. Albert is the smartest guy in the game. Just ask him...and Buck and McCarver...
