  1. Nothing personal, but that would have been a horrendous move.
  2. Some folks have been playing too many video games.
  3. Depends on how well you think Gallagher could do in Marshall's spot. Almost .200 OPS points is a MASSIVE improvement. We can't just look past that fact. Look, I would LOVE to have Griff and his 900 OPS in our lineup, but at what cost? If the deal were Gallagher, Petrick and EPatt I'd do it without a second thought, but I'd guess they'd want more back than that. Then again, what is the real difference between Marshall and Gallagher? I know - Marshall has a ton more ML level experience. But doesn't Gallagher project as a better pitcher overall?
  4. I think you will see more tinkering during the upcoming offseason. If Grossman does not play well he will have to move on for his own sanity. This should be Moose's final year with us (unless he plays like he's 25, though there is little reason to believe he will), particularly if Bradley and Hester play well. The O-Line is almost eligible for their League pension. Other than Kruetz and Garza, I would not rely on any of them beyond 07'. I'd also be surprised if one of our overpaid DE's isn't traded or cut.
  5. Because a everyday player (if you can call Griffey that) that can help on a daily basis, not once every 5 days... OK, I'll play along. So you get Marshall for one of our starting five - who replaces him?
  6. Lee's power days may in fact be over, but as long as he is putting up a .400 OBP he's fine in my book. I think he might still be good 25 HRs per yr after this year. Heck, he could get hot in the next two months and do that this year.
  7. I also wanted Schmidt and argued that Schmidt and Lilly/Wolf (rather than Lilly and Marquis) was the direction to go. Happy to be wrong.
  8. I get the feeling that Lilly is the sort of pitcher who will age well; a Jamie Moyer type. Recall that the light bulb didn't come on for Moyer until he was in his 30's.
  9. Please do not derail my Lilly Love with talk of Mr. Jones. Rather, please start a "Mr. Jones and Me" thread. And BTW, while Marquis hasn't been nearly as good as Lilly, has has been surprisingly decent and a worthy fifth starter, IMO.
  10. Ted's WHIP coming into tonight was 1.07. He will have 11 wins after tonight, and his ERA will drop into the 3.40 range. If he keeps this up, could be a dark horse Cy Young candidate.
  11. Not trying to pick on you man - really I am not - but I don't understand what you would have against Ted at this point. He's been very good for the most part.
  12. 'Nother nice job tonight, Ted. Pleasently surprised by your success. Keep it up!
  13. I don't get this deal. It looks like our Juan Pierre deal.
  14. If they trade Konerko their already pathetic attendance will dwindle to lows not seen since they lost tv contract back in the late-80's.
  15. Well done Jerry. =D> I also applaud Briggs as he enters his "farewell" season. He still gets 7 mill this year and gets to earn his next contract rather than cutting his nose off to spite his face a la Todd Bell and Al Harris in 85'.
  16. Agreed. Go Ronny! It would be great if he could shore up SS so Jim could concentrate on getting an everyday RFer and maybe another starting pitcher.
  17. That's the problem - neither he or Adewale are earning their money.
  18. At least Floyd didn't hurt himself running for that one.
  19. That would be Lofton-Ramirez Part Deux. Lofton Soriano Lee Texeria ARam DeRosa Theriot/Fontenot Kendall Holy crap that 2-6 would be sweet.
  20. I have a back-up pair of boxer shorts standing by.
  21. I heard he had the Kyle Farnsworth Disease, and that's why he committed so many errors and swung and at everything. Levine strongly implied as much.
  22. Good luck, Ronny. Do well, and stay off of Rush St this time.
  23. TT got a promotion? What's the pay like? Congrats, TT.
