  1. Gordon, Noc, and Noah for Gasol makes sense.
  2. Hire Sutt. I miss drunkards in the booth. RIP Harry.
  3. Food tastes better. Air is easier to breath. The Sun shines brighter.
  4. Exactly...doing the same exercise last year. Jacque Jones 306/336/528 How well is that working out for us? Not well, but to the extent you are comparing Jones to say, DeRosa, you are comparing apples to oranges.
  5. Insightful comment. How does this crap stay on here? I think Meph got bored with baseball and decided to troll for a while. Maybe he doesn't like it when the Cubs win? Self-loathing?
  6. Oh yeah, I forgot about the Ramirez kid. That was a good signing. Wish he'd hustle more though.
  7. This thread is a Riot. Ed K of Indy approves.
  8. 81 games in (that was quick) and how do you like them now?: DeRosa: .286 .363 .452 Soriano: .305 .353 .542 Floyd: .295 .364 .404 Ward: .319 .448 .404 Lily: 7-4 3.84 (ERA) 1.08 (WHIP) Marquis: 6-4 3.31 1.21 Not bad at all, IMO. DeRosa has been a great addition. Floyd would be too if his slugging would improve.
  9. Lewis "commits" to Magic: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2924228 Darko anyone?: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2171 I'd quite like a front line of Deng-Darko-Wallace.
  10. Ronny is looking Ruthian in Des Moines. My only question is whether anyone else here thinks its an anamoly. I mean, no one expects him to put up those nos at the ML level, but how do we explain this rather incredible turn-around?
  11. Seeing as the Trib hasn't been able to field a .500 team over the past 25ish years, I'm still willing to take my chances with a change in ownership (which hasn't happened yet). Being in ownership-limbo appears to be more of a barrier to winning than having The Trib ownership is/was.
  12. Points well taken. I guess in part I am frustrated b/c I feel like they have acquired several valuable assets and are on the cusp of osmething big, but still missing that final piece.
  13. I'd love 23 and 10. I'd hate his ball-hogging and tantrums. Dismiss character all you'd like. Do you still think Paxson made a mistake when he dumped J.R. Smith? I said Noah was the best fit when compared against the draft alternatives you listed. There was no one left on the draft board that fits your over-6-9-back-to-the-basket requirements except Hawes, and I'm glad Paxson avoided that nonathletic, piss-poor rebounder. No, I don't think he made a mistake at the time in trading Smith. We had enough wings at that point and had recently inked an inside presence in Wallace. In order to get Wallace we had to spin off Chandler, and in order to do so we had to take on Smith. At that point dealing him to Denver made sense. With respect to your second point, you and I are talking about two different things: you are limiting yourself to draft alternatives who you assume Pax will keep. I am asserting that we should have traded the pick, drafted a player someone else wanted in order to facilitate a trade, or added greater depth to a position of strength (2's and 3's) in order to facilitate a trade.
  14. Noah has as much -- or more -- trade value as any of the players you listed. Athletic 7-footers are always at a premium, and he's easily the best fit if the Bulls end up keeping him as I expect they will. Portland gave Randolph away for a reason. I'm very happy he's not a Bull. Say what you will about his persona; I wouldn't mind seeing his 23 and 10 in the lineup at PF alongside Wallace and Deng. Supposedly Pax and Skiles are these great disciplinarians and pros - make it work. I also disagree that Noah is the best fit at this point. When Wallace breaks down / retires, yes, he's a great backfill. At this point, however, we need someone 6'9" or over who can play with his back to the basket and get his own shot. Wouldn't hurt if the person could rebound too.
  15. Not making a trade isn't blowing this draft. The Bulls will need to include either Nocioni or Brown (very unlikely) in a sign and trade to make any significant deal, and that can't happen until July 1. Seems a little early to me to declare the offseason over. Who did you want the Bulls to select at 9 from those still on the board? How about drafting another athletic wing or guard? Wright. Law. The two Youngs. Thorton. Stuckey. Create a surplus and you can afford to trade someone (the pick or Gordon) as part of a package to get a big man (Randolph was available; is Gasol still available? How about KG?). Beats drafting a role player at nine when your team desperately needs a star.
  16. Ha. Good one. Pax blew this draft, IMO. The 9th pick going to a playoff team is a gift. Noah isn't good enough to make the difference down low we desperately need. He should have explored options on the trade mkt. This team is ready to win now, not develop another raw and athletic fwd/center. I give Pax credit for taking a risk and signing Wallace, but I think the organization's (read: Pax and Skiles) philosophy of drafting conservative and playing the same way is beginning to show its limitations. You can win 50 games and maybe go to the Eastern Conference Finals under this philosophy (think of the Heat before they had the stones to trade for O'Neal). But that's about it, IMHO. For whatever reason, Pax appears to be afraid to make the big move.
  17. Let me clarify - I have not read anywhere that Pax was in on the Randolph deal at any time. I do think we could have put together an attratcive pckg for him, but I'd bet that Pax doesn't have the guts to do so. Again, Noah's a nice player. But how much better are the Bulls right now than they were 3 hrs ago? Not much.
  18. Pax has no stones. Noah was a safe pick and will be a nice, hard working player. But we needed a 20-10 guy, not a Thomas-Wallace combo. Could have had Randolph and chickened out.
  19. If no trades (and seriously doubt Pax has the stones to pull one off), I could live with a draft that nets: Noah Gasol JamesOn Curry (sleeper!!!)
  20. The answer to the title of this thread is Dallas Green.
  21. Beautiful park. Great seats. Very good concessions. Fun distractions. Decent looking, scantily-clad cheerleaders, but the fact they had them at all is a plus. Saw Rick Ankiel who is absolutely killing the ball (already 23 HRs on the season). Also saw Jason Lane (Astros' AAA affiliate was in town). Other than those two, no one was very impressive except the Round Rock pitcher, a kid named Rodriguez. He had a perfect game through 6 and a third. Other than being surrounded by Cards fans, its was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Anyone else been?
  22. I really don't see this comparison at all. They're vastly different players with different abilities who struggled in the big leagues after coming up in different paths (one a college guy with major strikeout problems and no defensive position, the other a raw, much younger MIF who had problems getting on base). And Dubois can only dream of matching Cedeno's K/BB ratio at AAA while keeping his production up. As goony mentioned, I meant only insomuch as he starting to look like AAAA player. Dubois was an enigma b/c he did very well at the AAA level but it did not translate to the bigs. Cedeno may be following a similar path.
  23. Again, he's a UNC guy, but I am wary of him and his raw skills.
