  1. There are conflicting reports. Hendry's own comments ommit any involvement of Zell, and it seems unlikely that the owner of the Trib would personally reject a trade over a matter of a few million dollars. I could envision a scenario where Zell told McDonough and Hendry, "Sure, do the deal. But then don't expect me to approve any deadline aquisitions. You have an allowance and you will have spent it."
  2. Cedeno's career is tracking a lot like Dubois' did, IMO.
  3. Lots of room for improvement for Brandan, no doubt. But he'd be a steal at 9 and I like him more than Julian -- both in terms of fit for the Bulls and ceiling. Hollinger put together a college prospect ranking system recently. Good read (it's free!) and interesting tool. It's high on Brandan Wright. Damn you stole my thunder. I thought Hollinger's analysis and the system her put together was as good as any I have seen in any sport.
  4. He's one of them. Durant and Oden are two others. It's not uncommon. Thomas didn't work out against anyone last year. I am a UNC fan and I don't want the Bulls to get near Wright. That said, I think he is further along than Thomas was at the equivalent point in his career. he has a couple of [simple] back to the basket moves and is a good off the ball defender, but he's about as likely to mix it up inside as I am. I'd rather have the other Wright if had to choose. Also I have read that Brewer's stock is falling as the initial hype gives way to reality. He could be there at nine, apparently.
  5. This still isn't the worst potentially debunked rumor. The Dunn-trade-that wasn't-thread was like 80 pages long. Then we had the "I spoke to Len Kasper" thread.
  6. Au revior, Jacques!!! \:D/ Had we traded him in April when he was hitting pretty well we might have gotten something better.
  7. The Score seems pretty much positive Jacque won't be a Cub at the end of the day. What makes you say this?
  8. Who? this guy Thanks. As sunny pointed out, he isn't on the 40 man, right? Strange.
  9. And when he gets there, hopefully Lou will say... "All of you still on the Cubs' 25 man roster step fwd...not so fast, Jones!!!"
  10. In spite of hsi misguided choices in professional sports teams.... Tran Man.
  11. I am surprised at several of the names on that list.
  12. Roberts in 07': .324 / .411 / .451 :!: EDIT: He's also been on base 138 times, fourth most in the AL.
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2916083 Tanks for the memories.
  14. I think that might hurt ratings....a lot. I dunno - he was saying that a bunch of gals stopped him near the clubhouse and would not let him leave before he took a pic with them. Perhaps Lou has The Cavorka.
  15. Any second basemen available that you can think of off hand?
  16. It was a bad signing regardless of what he provided in 2006. In terms of looking at the signing from a 2005 perspective, Hendry gave him at least one too many years. It wasn't going to be the contract that killed us, but it didn't bring in a particularly talented player and guaranteed him 3 years, so from that perspective, yes, it was a bad signing. From the perspective of final results of the contract, if we can trade him, I'd say Hendry got lucky on a bad contract and made it a wash. you could, but who else di we miss out on while Jones was plaugging RF? Props to Hendry, however, for realizing his mistake.
  17. they have some tasty prospects...i would be all for that! Dream scenario: Zambrano to Mets for Martinez and Humber. Cubs re-sign Zambo during offseason after he punches Paul LoDuca in the face.
