  1. Issues I have with the likes of Pressly, Thielbar, Morgan and Brasier is none of them have plus stuff, they're all bargain bin types. It never works, the bullpen may eventually sort itself out and be effective but, how many games are going to be blown in the process? What, numbers, analytics suggest this is an effective approach? By he way, Pressly' baseball reference page, the player similarity scores? Of course, Hector horsefeathers Neris is #2.
  2. That's what I was thinking, he's Neris redux written all over him, instead of walking the world, batters will be mashing. We all know the story, get pummeled early, blow multiple games, have an effective stretch, then back to giving up costly runs.
  3. It's shocking, don't know if it was finally good scouting, evaluation, etc. or just luck Buzelis fell into their laps. Wonder if they had their usual Williams/Phillips/Terry type in queue had Buzelis not fallen.
  4. KJ leaving may turn out to be a net positive, believe even Underwood will notice his deficiencies outweigh the positives. Believe he'll go hard after a PG with good handles and plays defense.
  5. I guess so, I still would have liked to have seen an attempt at something different. I would have sent two trying blitz him maybe, even give a hard foul going for steal, anything to try and knock him off.
  6. While Underwood has raised the floor, I do not believe he's the coach to get them over the hump. Over and over again we see his coaching decencies, once in a great while, such as the Purdue game. We'll see him make an effective adjustment. Yesterday, it more of the usual, opponent gets comfortable, Brea, and no attempt is made to throw something different at him. No doubling, trying to wall Brea up, nothing, and it was a very winnable game that's the most frustrating aspect.
  7. That may be a factor, have not really dived into any film from his play in Europe to know if carelessness with the ball is a consistent issue. If, it is, I'd rather he work on his handles in the NBA developmental league than throw away games for the Illini in a short college season.
  8. I'd like to see Riley stay, he's not ready for the NBA of course, the NBA oftentimes drafts on potential. Riley will get NIL money, another year could push him into the lottery. TO machine KJ can go bye-bye, his careless TO's put them in the early hole from which they never recovered.
  9. Another bad start to the second half, I'd say this game is over, it's just a matter by how much the Illini will lose. Really irritating, this Kentucky team is not objectively better, the Illini just keep throwing the ball to them. I don't get it, it's not like Kentucky is some defensive amoeba, overplaying the passing lanes or anything.
  10. If Hurley wasn’t such a big dickhead, I might feel a little empathy at his “emotional” post game press conference. Glad he’s done and gone from this tournament.
  11. Much like yesterday, think there's good chance of 2 more Big Ten teams, possibly 3 added to the Sweet 16.
  12. Yeah, I often forget Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington being members of the Big Ten.
  13. I believe Smith's spring numbers and Tucker' lack of spring numbers is what may have people overreacting. Overreacting and conveniently ignoring Tucker is a proven MLB'er and Smith, well, is not.
  14. Feeling pretty good about 2 Big Ten teams will advancing today, 3 is also a decent possibility. Wouldn't it be awesome if all 4 advanced knocking out 2 SEC teams in the process? I'd love it for the Big Ten to dominate the tournament while the media darlings SEC teams flail away. Or, Pearl and Hurley soon exit, there's a real good chance obnoxious horsefeathers supreme Hurley is done by 3 tomorrow,
  15. Except for the TO’s the good Illini showed up. Xavier never really had a chance, final score was closer because of the TO’s. In KJ defense he did get mugged a couple of times.
  16. Big Ten looking good thus far, undefeated.
  17. I remember reading something here about him having a high GB rate? Hitting the ball on ground too much does not bode well.
  18. Exactly, biggest difference was pitching, the Dodger lineup of Ohtani and mostly replacement level players is nothing special.
  19. If their pitching holds out maybe they've a chance at the "best record in baseball history" and that's a big if, they've got some effective but, fragile arms.
  20. It was absolute money grab and, I guess, to a much lesser extent, making an impression for future Japanese prospects. Although, I believe making a good impression is nearly an exercise in futility. The Dodgers have the monopoly on the top Japanese prospects. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the effort, see Sasaki - a complete charade and waste of time.
  21. Like your optimism, this sounds good to me.
  22. This why I was asking about the Cubs having the ability to decline going to Japan. I get the monetary and public relations regarding future Japanese prospects however, given the pitching match ups, it was almost certain they were coming home 0-2. A sliver lining may be they don't immediately continue on with the regular season so, the bad start doesn't have a chance to snowball.
  23. It'd be awfully horsefeathers nice if the good version of the Illini show up Friday like UNC did last night. Given our luck though, we'll probably get more of the horsefeathers we saw against Maryland and most of February. For whatever it's worth appears many are dumping on the Illini, picking the winner of Texas/Xavier to beat them. I get it, not that far of a reach, makes logical sense.
  24. Or not. Well, at least, Shaw and Tucker got hits.
  25. Yes, I'll take a Cubs win today as well.
