  1. If true, I'd like to think the Bears are capable of firing Poles into to the sun. But, the realist part of me says there's no horsefeathers way the Bears are choosing Johnson over Poles. With the Bears and McCaskey' inane notion of organizational stability, stupidity reigns supreme. An owner truly committed to winning, when whats currently in place is not working, would be willing to try anything to get on the path to competitiveness. Unfortunately, for us that's not McCaskey.
  2. I did not see the opening kickoff, appears South Carolina tried to trick the Illini. Prior to catching the ball in the end zone South Carolina returner spread his arms as if to indicate a touch back. He caught the ball then threw a lateral to another returner who proceeded to run the ball out of the end zone. Guess Bielama was teasing/taunting the Gamecocks after kind of a bush league move.
  3. Texas - ASU may be the last of the blowouts, believe the other playoff games today will be competitive. Watching possible Bears draftee, #78 Kelvin Banks Jr., anyone watch LSU yesterday? If so, how did Will Campbell look or, did he opt-out?
  4. A pleasant unexpected surprise the Illini beat South Carolina in the Citrus Bowl. One of the few sports teams I follow that wasn't total horsefeathers in 2024. And suck it ESPN ,your SEC darlings lost to the Big Ten again! That makes twice today!
  5. I believe Caleb will ultimately be the best of him, Daniels and Nix. Most especially if the Bears address the line and pair Caleb with a Ben Johnson, Joe Brady or Kliff Kingsbury. The Nix talk is irritating as horsefeathers, just going to have to take it until next season.
  6. I'll give Poles credit for Caleb, I truly believe Poles knew Fields was a lost cause as a passer and the Carolina first rounder in 2024 was going to be very high pick. Thereby, if necessary, enabling him to trade up for a QB, turns out that wasn't needed. Wright is a good RT who I believe has been playing hurt most of the season, if he's healthy in 2025 he'll be fine. I to, believe Poles wanted to fire Eberflus after last season but, McCaskey stepped in to keep him. As for the remainder of his moves they've been, on the whole, terrible. Moreover, if Poles is retained, I don't trust him to be able to identify what's needed to repair the offensive and defensive lines. Most especially in free agency, he's got to target front line starter types, spend the money.
  7. I have to agree, we can't assume Caleb would have been a slam dunk with any of those three. And they most definitely would have gone with the meathead defense, defense, run the ball, control the clock approach. Thereby, probably removing the Bears chances at the #1 pick.
  8. I'd like to believe this is just idle speculation however, it's the Bears. Who have a real affinity for the doing the things in same manner that has resulted in multiple failures.
  9. A desperate Poles may be worse than a non-desperate Poles or, he'll continue to find Nate Davis types to sign/trade for. With the combination of cap space and draft picks there's no question a decent GM could fix the OL in one off season. But there's the catch a decent GM.
  10. The real question - will Jenkins play? And, if he does, how long? So far, this season he's missed/exited games with the following body parts injuries: thigh, ribs, ankle, knee, calf. If does manage to play, what body part will be injured? Might as well round it out with, say, a shoulder contusion? And it'll happen in the most Bearsy way, don't know the specifics but, in some way that could only happen to a Bears player.
  11. Unfortunately, you're probably correct. The point I was trying to make is Poles has no empirical evidence he should remain the GM, most organizations would fire him based on this alone. However, being terrible at your job is often times not enough to get you fired from the Bears.
  12. I think we all agree he should be fired, there's nothing to suggest he's capable of fixing the trenches. In fact, there's plenty of evidence suggesting he's incapable picking and signing/trading the correct players.
  13. I really don't believe that's going to happen, I believe they're going to hire someone with an offensive background - Johnson, Kingsburry or Brady. To me, firing Poles is key, if they do then, we can take away they're serious about addressing the roster issues and competing.
  14. Ben Johnson is not the only avenue to success, if the Bears properly address the OL. There's no reason Kingsburry or Joe Brady can't be as successful as Ben Johnson with the Bears.
  15. The only caveat being Poles' ability in picking those players. I don't trust that he can nor do I have faith he'll make the trenches priorities. I really hope he's given his walking papers on black Monday.
  16. So, yeah Caleb is now Zach Wilson bad, Wilson, who had, 6292 yards, 23 TD and 25 INT for his career, get the horsefeathers out of here. This season can't end quick enough.
  17. Advisor to the owner, going such a route, the Bears might end up with a meathead like the Lions with Campbell. Who, if he hires good offensive and defensive coordinators along with improvement in the trenches, could work out.
  18. Don't know if an offensive player is necessary, Spielman was a LB. Was thinking aloud, don't know the solution, the only thing we do know is the being advised by the likes Polian and Accorsi does not work.
  19. Maybe, instead of Bill Polian/Ernie Accorsi route, McCaskey and Warren should be advised by a former player ala the Lions with Spielman. Someone intelligent, who has a passion for the Bears, who as a former player, can relate the embarrassment and frustration of being on bad Bears teams and how to possibly turn things around .
  20. There aren't many solid reasons he should get another year, all evidence suggests to the contrary. I think it best to start with a clean slate.
  21. If McCaskey is a supposed fan how can he not be embarrassed and pissed? Does the cash still flowing in make the state of the team not matter? Does this clown truly want to win?
  22. Poles, which I don't get, he drafts a punter with, for a punter, a high pick and doesn't address his noodle legged place kicker.
  23. He won't, he'll keep finding more Nate Davises to sign and Chase Claypools to trade for.
  24. I believe Warren knows this part, McCaskey with his wanting to promote stability or, whatever the horsefeathers it is, may not. Warren did get him to fire Eberflus so there's hope.
  25. Good points, never said it was easy, just to keep beating the Bears are broken into ground and because they're broken this and that isn't possible is foolish.
