  1. There's one, Romano strikes out the side. Hopefully, loss number two is eminent. Really was a perfectly placed FB that struck out Contreras, don't believe he could have done much with that pitch even had he swung.
  2. Arenado pops up and Contreras K's looking. I it's the randomness of baseball and all but, would it kill that horsefeathers Castellanos to something against the Cardinals? Dipshit is dead red against the Cubs but, is an automatic out for the Cardinals.
  3. It's annoying as hell, at some point the schedule is going to catch up to the Cardinals.
  4. Such a lame excuse most especially with the Cubs in a supposed win now mode. Winning sometimes requires a little risk taking, Hoyer took one with Tucker. Should have pulled the trigger on Luzardo regardless.
  5. Luzardo mowing down the Cardinals, still don't understand why the Cubs couldn't match the equivalent of what the Phillies gave up.
  6. What is it about these soft tossing junk ballers that gives the Cubs fits?
  7. That would be great, just don't trust the Bulls to actively pursue getting better. Don't think I've ever seen a franchise less interested in winning than the Bulls. They're mediocre, proud of it and that's all they want to be.
  8. I think it's more 6 of those 9 have been against the Pirates and Nationals. Let's see how they come out of 2 more at the Phillies (Luzardo and Nola), 3 at the Royals, followed by the Tigers and Diamondbacks at home.
  9. I'm thinking DH for Ballesteros, I believe it makes the most sense.
  10. Maybe the Cubs are starting to come out of the team wide funk, at least 6 balls hit with EV's of 100+. If it weren't for the Marlins pulling defensive plays out of their collective asses the final score may have not been so close.
  11. I think they have, so far 4 balls with EV's of 100+ miles, except all have been at someone.
  12. Shouldn't take many, if any, good prospects for Anderson, 35, MOR guy, under contract for just this season, he's the typical Hoyer target. Don't get me wrong Cubs need all and any help they can get, just don't think Anderson has that high of a price tag.
  13. Is Hoyer prepared to pay the price tag, I mentioned, if Happ' injury lingers, giving Ballesteros a try, however, I'm all for trading him while his value is at it's highest point. Is Hoyer? Or, more likely, what bargain bin starting pitching will he target? Don't know who but, I'm certain there's plenty of these types he'll have on his shopping list.
  14. There hasn't been much good about the Cubs bullpen but, facing good to loaded lineups game after game has to be a factor. I don't know of many bullpens that'll come out with sterling numbers after facing the gauntlet the Cubs just finished. While were seeing negative regression out of the lineup, I'd say there's an excellent chance we're going to see some positive regression from the pitching the next few weeks.
  15. It may also be a chance for the bullpen to get back on track, no more facing loaded lineups game after game. There should be an uptick in performance in the following weeks.
  16. If this Happ injury is going to be a thing and let's face it, it's the Cubs, and it probably will be a thing. I wonder if any thought will given towards a Ballesteros cup of coffee at DH? He certainly cannot perform any worse than the corpse of Justin Turner.
  17. I really don't see that happening this time around, their not going to continue to be impotent against replacement-below replacement level starting pitching like they were today.
  18. They really are, they're due for a mammoth regression in pitching, especially their starters. I hope the Cubs catch him during the downturn. Saw a statistic last night displaying the whole of the Mets starters several deviations above their career norms.
  19. I agree, he was total garbage as a Blackhawk.
  20. Yeah it's been pretty discouraging the last few days. Leading to some hot takes. They're not going to have a collective worst slumps of their careers like last season. They'll be facing too many bad teams.
  21. It's also possible Megill is on a downward trend, in looking at last 5 starts it appears that could be the case. The Cubs may score some runs tomorrow maybe quite a few.
  22. Well that sucked, thought the Leafs carried the play, had better chances. However, as it often times goes in OT games teams that failed to capitalize on their many chances end up losing.
  23. But it's pretty much a guaranteed loss which sucks hopefully, they'll take one on Sunday.
  24. Leafs tying goal bounced off Jones, I'm sorry but, ha ha ha. Jones, doing what he did best as a Blackhawk facilitating the opposition' goals.
