  1. Anyone know about the Rockies’ starter? I’m assuming it’s not another Ryan Weathers situation. A lefty with great stuff lacking consistency, while he was a high draft choice. If he has Weathers type stuff he would have been a first rounder.
  2. I could see some deal of batted ball bad luck for Brown today however, it wasn't bad luck he started the game with, what, 10 straight balls? Coming no near the strike zone for 2+ batters, that's the problem, it happens far to often with him. When he finally dialed it in, he was very effective, setting down 9 in a row, why can't he start games dialed in?
  3. How many times have we seen the Cardinals trade for such a guy and he flips the switch as soon as he gets off the plane in St. Louis? Too many horsefeathers times. I know his savant page looks terrible, I still think there's something there, I think being on a crappy go no where team hasn't helped.
  4. Read about the Alcantara and the Cardinals, if the Marlins are going to make him available this early. There's no way the Cardinals should be able to outbid the Cubs. I really, really don't want to see the Cardinals pick him up. He's got turn-it-around on a better team written all over him.
  5. Brown can't remain in the rotation, it's Iowa time for him, work him as reliever. Should he excel, bring him back up for a try in the bullpen. Time for Wicks? I'd keep Flexen as a mop up/innings guy and try Wicks.
  6. As nice as it was to win 2 of 3 this scoring 11, 8 runs over innings 6-9 thing is not going to last forever. Someone, anyone, has to give the Cubs average SP beyond Boyd and Taillon.
  7. I predict when the Reds come to Wrigley guys like Hays, Trevino, and, to some extent, Espinal won't be hitting as they did this series. And a Happ hot streak is forth coming.
  8. Me to. Ha, ha pissant Reds, Cubs SP making you like all stars and still couldn't win series! Don't look now but, outside of Merryweather and, one bad pitch by Palencia, the bullpen has been near spotless.
  9. Combination of bad pitching and a few Reds hitters currently over performing. Mainly, it's the bad pitching.
  10. I think it's time to skip his next turn, send him to Iowa with the thought of moving him to bullpen when he returns. Maybe give Flexen a shot, he's probably terrible but, he'll throw strikes and that counts.
  11. Wouldn't be shocking at all if the Cubs manage to get the tying run up to plate at some point in this game.
  12. Even very, very mediocre lineups, such as the Reds, can do well against poor pitching.
  13. Brown throwing strikes = Reds not doing much it's nice to see.
  14. Plus Lodolo has reverse splits, Busch, very small sample size, has big numbers vs. Lodolo.
  15. Very good, no need to full around with Espinal, go after him, he's not going to hurt you.
  16. Don't have any respect for the Reds lineup, their big bat is an over performing Austn Hays, it's frustrating the Cubs starters can't manage to be average. Average starting pitching holds these guys down.
  17. Cubs aren't done scoring, can Brown manage a few scoreless innings?
  18. The walks to minimal hitters like Espinal are what drive me nuts. Of course, Brown can't locate any of his pitches which is really the problem.
  19. Happ breaks out today, big career numbers vs. Lodolo in fact, Swanson, Hoerner and Seiya with big numbers as well. Yesterday the career numbers suggested a big day for the Reds, today it's flipped and, the numbers suggest a big day for the Cubs. The Cubs will also pick up a game on the Cardinals today.
  20. I was pretty confident the Cubs would split today’s and tomorrow’s game. They’ll get good Ben Brown and win tomorrow.
  21. What's that 4 balls over 100 from the Cubs yeah, they're going to get to Abbott for a few.
  22. Except for Hoerner every ball the Cubs have put in play has been 95+, they're seeing the ball well and smoking it. They keep that up and the runs will come.
  23. Cubs will score more than 2 runs, questions are how many more than 2 and can Rea manage to keep the Reds down for a bit?
  24. It’s also over performing, negative regression is in the future.
