  1. Cabrera has the stuff, he might be able to qualify as some who could pitch at the front of rotation. But, I see what you're saying about the here and now.
  2. Completely ignore the fact they've faced a horsefeathers-ton of good to great starting pitchers. I'll give you they're slumping a bit, missing some meatballs but, you can't ignore the fact they've faced a pitching gauntlet of late.
  3. Terrible send by the Tigers, Carpenter looks slower than Happ, he was huffing and puffing before he got to third.
  4. Think there's any chance the Marlins would deal Edward Cabrera or Max Meyer? Cabrera would certainly cost more than Meyer, considering Alcantara may the hot commodity. It be just like Jed, under the radar, unlikely target, to get Cabrera or Meyer.
  5. Still waiting for it to happen to the Tigers, it hasn't, I believe their line up isn't as good as the Cubs.
  6. Pirates are not going score very many runs and the Cubs are not going to keep missing every rolling/hanging breaking ball or meatball fastball. We'll be happy on Sunday night with 3/4 in the books.
  7. I think many of us had this one marked as a loss, frustrating that it was a game the Cubs very much could have won. But, that's it for the Pirates, no more Skenes, think the Cubs have good chances to win the next two.
  8. I'd say one or two of them were good, there were others not so good, including the one Tucker popped up. They'll be another chance, Bednar will throw the same pitch and Tucker will crush it.
  9. 3 out of 4 is still a very definitely possibility, in fact, I think there's an excellent chance of this outcome.
  10. horsefeathers you Santana, you're on a last place team, probably going to lose 90-100 games, just go into the dugout.
  11. They do miss the calls at 1B a shocking number of times. I thought, at the very least, they'd be near-miss on those calls.
  12. That was an automatic DP there, good thing PCA stole second.
  13. Definitely, Dansby got the DP ball going, have to try and avoid multiple outs.
  14. They'll get to the Pirates bullpen for a few, it's coming.
  15. Skenes may be close to done, wouldn't think the Pirates are going to let him throw 120+ pitches.
  16. The left-handedness is primary factor for me, if Skenes was a lefty I'd take him.
  17. Question - Given a choice Skubal or Skenes? For me Skubal and it's not even close, if Skenes was a LHP, I'd take him.
  18. I'd settle for a down turn in mistakes and trusting his off speed stuff.
  19. He isn't elite but, he's far from a Colin Rea, he would definitely qualify as good effective pitcher. I'd take him for the Cubs' rotation in a heart beat. I would also take Seiya and Tucker running hot in October, it's way more difficult to pitch around two or more hot bats.
  20. Out of curiosity, I looked it up - Eric Gagne in 2003.
  21. How great would it be if Horton dominating and not Skenes was the story of the game? I'd like to see Horton minimize the mistakes, trust his stuff, including the change up, no more straight FB's down the middle. Just curious, does anyone know, since coming up, if the Cubs have missed a Skenes start in a Pirates series? I'm guessing Skenes has faced the Cubs more than anyone else thus far in his career. I know there's been some frustration with the lack of offense but, holy horsefeathers the Cubs have lately faced a truckload of good to great starting pitching - Gore, Skubal, Flaherty, Wheeler, Luzardo, Heaney, today Skenes, after finishing up with Abbott and Lodolo. This might have something to do with the lack of offense.
  22. I was thinking Lynn McGlothen but, he wasn't a Cub until 1978.
