  1. Is it possible Jed over values Cassie, etc.? Hence, leading to him being reluctant to take a risk? I wouldn't have traded them for rentals, there I don't blame Jed, but, I would have traded any of the top prospects for, say, Joe Ryan. Traded them with absolutely no reservations.
  2. When you trade for prime Miguel Cabrera and Greg Maddux you don't need to make any more significant moves.
  3. I'll give Jed credit for addressing the bench, there, he did the best he possibility could with Castro. Suarez aside, I don't know if there was a better option than Castro. At least Jed didn't punt on that need.
  4. Beyond the question about extension in hand, I wonder what his course of action might have been had Tallion and Asaad not be nearing returns. I believe he's banking hard on those returns and might have gone into deadline with a more kick the tires approach.
  5. Having guys who can miss bats is more important in the postseason. The Cubs SP certainly won't miss many bats but, the bullpen could potentially have guys who miss bats. If I had to pick I'd go with guys who miss bats at the end.
  6. Definitely, move Soroka to the rotation, no more horsefeathers bullpen games or Brown starts. When Tallion and Asaad come back, move Rea to the pen, probably shut down or severely limit Horton.
  7. As many have said, today wasn't a total loss Pressly was released, that's certainly addition by subtraction. I think it's obvious Pressly was cooked.
  8. Really glad they didn't trade for Hauser. Didn't some who has access to the data state Hauser' peripherals were suggesting a downturn in performance was only a question of when, not if?
  9. Be great if he starts to heat up soon, most especially vs. the Brewers. I believe Kyle Tucker is the best player in the NL Central and can carry the Cubs.
  10. If he's to match what he did 2021, 2022, 2023 it's got to be massive which will be good for the Cubs.
  11. What do you think about Tucker' current numbers and his ability to put a big price tag on himself?
  12. Plus do think Jed' heavily banking on the returns of Tallion and Asaad as deadline "trades"?
  13. Tucker - is it a certainty the Cubs will not make an attempt to sign him? Moreover, his numbers while good, do not appear to be of mega-contract status. Maybe he'll go an a massive heater during these last 54 games but, I could see Jed using Tucker' non mega-contract status numbers as justification for not handing out a big long term contract.
  14. He's days of shutting people down or being effective are well behind him. There might be some bottom feeders who'll give him a spot for the remainder of this season and he'll blow up for them as well.
  15. Not that he cares, I still, nevertheless, hope the Chicago media crucifies Jed he wholeheartedly deserves it.
  16. Okay, Jed sucks, are you good what that?
  17. Does this mean at least one more bullpen game or Brown start? Along with multiple Rea starts, great.
  18. Who couldn't see this coming? Jed is a super conservative small market minded GM, there's no way in hell he was going to tear into his prospect capital.
  19. To be replaced by a different name doing the same things, really, what's the point?
  20. I mean, you're not looking forward to Cassie striking out for 3+ months in 2026? Come on... On Tucker, if he doesn't go a on massive heater in the remaining 54 games, will he be able to command long term big money? His numbers right now are good but, they're not that good.
  21. I was question about my lack of confidence in Jed to make an honest attempt at improving the Cubs. Here's example #1 as to why.
  22. Exactly, I'm certain we'll hear several attempts at rationalization by Jed.
  23. Just don't understand the apparent lack of a move for another SP, I like Soroka. But, the Cubs really needed to get away from bullpen/Brown days by adding a SP. Wasn't their record pretty bad in bullpen/Brown games?
  24. I think we have to accept the very real possibility that Jed is done, excuse #1 will be something along the lines of with Jameson and Javier coming back we felt it wasn't necessary to be aggressive. Look on the bright Cubs kept all of their top prospects and we'll get to watch Cassie strike out for 3+ months after Jed doesn't sign Tucker.
