  1. I'm thinking the shooting sight lines are better on one side of the court than the other. Illini missing is one thing, but, they're missing badly. Glad they're going the other way in 2nd half.
  2. Same with Michigan.
  3. Regardless of what happens tonight I believe Brad will build on this, make more FF's and who knows, maybe finally break through with a NC. The seal has been broke, that was the biggest obstacle. As for tonight, I believe the Illini are indeed playing with house money, hardly no one is giving them a chance vs. UConn. If there's any pressure it's on UConn, they're expected to move on. Also, believe the Wolverines can play free and lose, for reasons that escape me, most are pro Arizona. A side note, saw a video with Derrick Rose discussing his recruitment, he said Calipari took the time to make an in home visit. Whereas, Weber did not, now, I suspect there was quite a bit more to Rose' recruitment but, not taking the time to make an in house visit seems like a big mistake. Always liked Weber as an X's and O's coach however, he sucked at everything else.
  4. All Big Ten men's final and UCLA beats USC for a Big Ten sweep of basketball and football championships. That'll send the SEC and others conferences howling for changes.
  5. Someone pointed this out earlier - previous two games with UConn were at very UConn friendly venues with a big time pro-UConn crowd. Tonight it's a 180, almost a home game for both the Illini and Michigan.
  6. Not much there nevertheless, hope you have a great time rooting for the Illini.
  7. Love it, some have mentioned how well UConn and Arizona fans travel, I knew they had no chance. It was going to be all Big Ten crowd. Imagine if Purdue or MSU had made it, for Purdue I'm thinking purchases by state would have been 60% Indiana, 39.5% Illinois/Michigan
  8. Apparently, for the Illini's practice, on one side, the stands are nearly full of Orange. Mind you, this is just a practice. One thing is for certain both Big Ten teams are going to have overwhelming crowd support.
  9. Anything decent on tap?
  10. Thus far, it's a heavy UConn slant from the media, almost all the "experts" are picking the Huskies. Many of them think it's still 2024 or because UConn beat the Illini 3+ months ago, it applies to tomorrow, some citing the Illini' "easy" path to the FF, all of them ignoring the metrics suggesting Illinois is 5+/2+ (KenPom/TRank) better than UConn. No one has mentioned UConn beat a battered injury riddled worn down Duke team, it's all about Hurley' coaching genius. The Illini are the big underdog and no one is giving them much of a chance.
  11. Without question the Illini are better than UConn, the Illini also have the best player on the floor. Hopefully, these factors will translate to a win.
  12. His explanation of an official coming over to chest pump is ridiculous. No official in his right mind is going to publicly celebrate with a coach.
  13. As much as many of us loathe Duke, I believe injuries are the primary reason why UConn made it to the FF. They were no doubt worn down by the lack of depth. That Duke team which beat Michigan a month+ ago would have wiped the floor with UConn. Turned out good for the Illiini, UConn is far more beatable.
  14. Watched some of the highlights, the Illini played very poorly, really bad defense, let UConn push them all over the place. Malachi Smith, a meh player, had the game of his UConn career. Don't think any of that is going to happen again.
  15. T-Rank would have an Illinois - Arizona final based on tournament play -
  16. Looking at the numbers they suggest UConn may have benefited from a very top heavy Big East. It was no where near as good and deep as the Big Ten hence, leading UConn' somewhat inflated numbers.
  17. Maybe, it's a good thing no one is giving them a chance in face of the data suggesting the opposite.
  18. Don't know about that, Reed is listed at 6-10, Mirkovic at 6-9. Mirkovic might actually be taller than 6-9, post game when's standing with either of the twins it appears they don't have much on him, just a couple of inches. Of course, it's television and what we're seeing is not entirely accurate.
  19. All the metrics say Illinois is the better team, I know what's on paper doesn't always play out on court. Nevertheless, the Illini are better in nearly every statistical category, guess it could be all that tournament "pedigree" BS is why everyone is picking UConn.
  20. Listen to the Duke radio call: https://x.com/barstoolsports/status/2038406006514823171?s=20
  21. Nothing would please me more than seeing the Illini lay one on them. If there ever was a program that deserved to eat some NCAA tournament humble pie it's UConn.
  22. To me the Michigan - Arizona match up is the de-facto championship, fairly certain the winner goes on to win on Monday.
  23. Hell of a game though, the Illini now end it up facing ass-hole #1, this time with a much better team. Can't say I didn't enjoy seeing everyone's darling go down.
  24. High IQ basketball would have been holding on to the ball, there was exactly 10 seconds on the clock. I can understand, Sarr, who's a poor FT shooter passing the ball. After the initial pass there was no need to advance the ball, just stand there, holding onto the ball. I'm certain the coaching staff let them know to hold onto the ball. Kid panicked at half court.
  25. Don't believe there's a much of a gap, if any, between Illinois and UConn. Duke, at times, looked beatable the whole tournament, it was only a matter of time that a good team would take them down. Injuries caught up with them, a healthy Duke team probably has an easier time getting to the FF.
