  1. To the Cards, we all know, Hendry' incapable of pulling off such a shrewd move.
  2. I'm certain they'll be some Aaron references but, does anyone think they'll be any Macallan references?
  3. I was holding out hope that the Tigers would pitch and play as they did earlier in the season however, it appears they're continuing to play as they have over the last 50 games - 19-31. Unfortunately, the Tigers are going to get swept, great, more ESPN/Fox Yankee orgasms...
  4. While I'm glad Dusty is being shown the door, I too, remain very skeptical of Jim Hendry' ability to field a competitive team. A quality GM with the resources such as Hendry' doesn't give us a team of composed of the Freddie Bynum's, Neifi Perez' and Glendon Rusch's of the Baseball World.
  5. Goodbye Dusty and take Pierre with you!!!
  6. Cards back in, Braves just beat the Astros 3-1.
  7. As terrible as the Astros and Cards are it wouldn't shock me if either made to WS, I can remember a .500 Mets team making it in '73 (or '72 or '74, one of those years the A's won three in a row).
  8. Bruce, if you re-visit or, if anyone knows the answer, I'd really like to know why a MI must bat 2nd... A cursory examination of retrosheet looks like Dusty has almost always batted a mif 2nd in the order. Oddly enough the only time he didn't for any extended time was when he had Bill Mueller at 3b and Kent at 2b he batted Mueller(lifetime 373 obp) 2nd most of the time. I say oddly enough because that was a great spot for Mueller but it wasn't really a "Dusty type" move. Also in 2004 he batted Cpatt (293 obp) 2nd more than anyone else with DLee next. Other than that some of his favorites have been(all mif): Robby Thompson (329 obp) Agonz (303 obp) Jose Vizcaino (318 obp) Neifi (301 obp) I know Dusty played for Lasorda in LA, maybe even a little for Walter Alston, wonder if they had a MI in the 2 spot for their lineups?

  10. Great calls from Joniak, did anyone notice Alex Brown knocking Brad Johnson on his ass after the fumble recovery?
  11. I believe the closeness of the game was due to the Bears' failure to execute, how many red zone possesions came up TD empty?
  12. A sack here would be nice...
  13. What I find interesting is while the Vikings have seemingly improved while playing two teams who, at the moment aren't much better than the Packers and Lions. The Bears have "only" played two lowly teams and haven't shown any improvement over 2005 at all. That's just wrong. The Packers and Redskins are far better than the Packers. The Packers at best are maybe the 30th best team in the league. The Lions are a 6-10, maybe 7-9 team. The Seahawks game was a bit of a fluke and the Seahawks haven't shown that they're clicking now either. I just can't wait until Sunday so I don't have to keep telling people that playing at Washington and Carolina at home is much tougher than at Green Bay and Detroit at home. Use some common sense people. Still, the Bears are the better team and with no hesitation I would bet on them going farther than the Vikings and being the favorites for the North. Sure, when Steve Smith and Clinton Portis return the Panthers and Redskins are far better than Lions and Packers however, currently, they're not too good.

  15. Seconded, I saw the clip of his news conference, it was heart breaking to say the least. Best Wishes Jada, Derrek and Family...
  16. Add a 40-14 (4th, 13:00) whooping of the Irish to the mix for U of M alum Rich Hill!!!
  17. I too, have no problem with Pie not being called up, in fact, I'm glad he'll be no near Dusty and his rookies learn by watching, etc. nonsense.
  18. Roy Williams disagrees. He guaranteed a Lions' victory. I love how he backed off soon after. Some of those quotes in that article make me think he's mentally [expletive]. “When we play the way we’re supposed to play, like our defense played the way they did Sunday … I don’t think there’s no team in this league that can beat us.” What the hell's he smoking? I found the his claim that they were this close to scoring 40 pts pretty funny as well...
  19. I didn't see the play on replay, but was his arm really hit as he threw? I don't think they were claiming his arm was hit, just his body, which can greatly affect the trajectory of any pass. I thought Grossman was trying to throw the ball away, it also appeared as he threw, he was hit low, as played developed, I was shouting throw it away Rex!!!
  20. MNF went nuts over a few of Randle-El' punt returns, made me think of Devin Hester' TD yesterday. I would have liked to see Randle-El' in Blue and Orange but, I rather have Hester returning punts. If Hester gets by the initial wave of tacklers, he's gone, its 6, don't think Randle-El is that kind of a return threat.
  21. After the initial shock of having someone consistently on base, drive in more runs.
  22. Watched the first half, a couple of decent passes from Culpepper and the Dolphins could have gone into half-time tied. Didn't see the 2nd half, did Culpeppr blow some other scoring opprotunities?
  23. Of course, the Cubs have never signed two name FA's, in that case, I like vance' idea of trading for Marcus Giles (and still signing C. Lee), he'd look very good in two spot: Murton Giles D. Lee Ramirez Barrett C. Lee Jones Izturis P this might be a better lineup than the one above...
  24. I'm warming to the idea of letting Murton lead off but do you think their is a manager in baseball (outside of Francona maybe) who would let Murton do it? Given that collection, if there's a Manager who values having runners on base ahead of his 3,4, and 5 hitters, Murton makes the most sense. Doesn't he? A lead off hitter doesn't necessarily have to be fast (unless you're Dusty Baker), give me a lead off hitter who gets on and is a good base runner over a speed merchant any day.
  25. What of letting Pierre walk, moving Jones to CF, Murton to RF and signing Carlos Lee to play LF in addition to signing Soriano to play 2B? Go with a lineup of: Murton Barrett D. Lee Ramirez C. Lee Soriano Jones Izturis P
