    Just wrote something about installing Pie as the everyday CF in today' Game Thread hopefully, it'll happen tonight. He may not out hit Jones/Pagan but, he's the superior defensive player that alone will help.

    In order to enhance the Cubs chances of making the playoffs, I believe Felix Pie must be the everyday CF. Its not because I'm assuming he'll out hit Jones but, its because of the facts that he's the superior defensive player and base runner. In no way shape or form will Jones offer anything helpful at least, with Pie, there's a good chance he'll keep a run or two from scoring. Call him up and put him lineup tonight!!!!!

    Well, I did get the answer to - What'll happen first a Cub hitting a HR or a Cub catcher throwing out a baserunner? So, another question - What'll happen first tonight Derek Lee swinging the bat or a Cub catcher throwing out a baserunner?

    hendry's out of ready-made excuses. the new ownership won't care why he's lost so often, just that he has. the absentee owners of the cubs are about to sell the team to people looking to make an impression on the fans of the cubs. Hendry' history after this season.

    I believe playing the infield in was a mistake, probably would have been 2-1, two outs before Loretta' at bat.

    Send down a struggling/poor lefty reliever - check Call up lefty reliever (Pignatiello) who has been tough on RHB and LHB in the hitting friendly PCL - uhhhh no Instead, call up righty starter and put him in the pen - check?!

    It depends what the Reds will demand for Dunn. They may ask for Gallagher knowing we are desperate. Done, where does Hendry sign?

    Its Hendry were talking about here so: 1. Smartest option who have the largest impact - Dunn 2. Poorest option who'll have no impact whatsoever (unless the Phillies are back on schedule) - Conine Given these options I believe its pretty clear who's going to end up as a Cub.

    Williams brings nothing to the table - the Cubs should hammer this guy tonight, no excuses.

    Hendry's idiocy knows no bounds. I guess the facts that Pagan doesn't know the number of outs which end an inning nor does he take good paths to ball or Jones losing several balls in sun/night don't suggest a need for a defensive upgrade in CF.

    A rookie positional call up can have a positive impact, right? Its allowed isn't it?

    I know hindsight is 20/20 but, given the Cubs have gotten next to nothing from CF, how bad would it have been to have left Pie in CF? Their record would quite probably be the same and I'm fairly certain Pie would have begun to make adjstments and improving at this point. Thereby, taking care of the CF question.

    I'm beginning to think Hendry was fooled by July into thinking the Cubs didn't need another bat. The can't afford to take on payroll argument is an empty one - to the billionaire(s) who are going to purchase the Cubs an extra million is a drop in the bucket. Futhermore, why wouldn't he go for broke? To be known as the GM who helped the Cubs to a WS title would be unmatched. Also, he's gone with the new ownership, I don't think there's a much of a question. Given this the most plausible conclusion is actually believes they don't or didn't need another bat.

    Facing more bad pitching tomorrow I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Cubs score two runs before the 9th inning. And maybe we'll learn the answer to what'll happen first a Cub HR or a Cub catcher throwing out a base runner. I'm leaning strongly towards the latter.

    But, but Cedeno and Murton tore it up at Iowa, isn't that enough? The Cubs, the only team in Baseball with guys who tear up the minor leagues but, can't manage to hit their weight in the big leagues.
