  1. The Kane pass and resulting Bolland goal were things of beauty Saturday night, sometimes I think Kane should score more goals. But, then I see his passing and realize his real talent or value is in setting up his team mates. I'm thinking the Hawks have a very good chance tonight unless Vancouver is able to pull off the near-perfect defensive performance of Game 3. However, as we saw in Game 4 its very difficult to play and maintain such a style game after game - even if the Canucks managed to do it for 117 odd minutes.
  2. I was pretty disappointed in the Cubs approach to Hoffman' smoke and mirrors last night, no one could get to those bp fastballs he was throwing? Bradley especially sucked, he took a couple of the pathetic Hoffman fastballs and they weren't even well located. And by the way, Soto really, really, really sucks.
  3. I don't think it was a poor strategy. It certainly wasn't fan-friendly, but it's not their job to entertain us. Their strategy worked like a champ against the Hawks all night and if not for an amazing hussle play and sweet pass by Ladd, followed by a perfect shot by Havlat, the strategy probably would have led to a win. I'm still waiting for that game where the Hawks blow up for the first minute and run them out of the building like they did the Flames in one the games, Game 5, I think. It would be nice to see them repeat that effort. LOL @ the Havlat photoshop job. Yeah -- we need to get the early lead for once. That would be the thing that stops Vancouver from playing to their strength, going with the snuff-out strategy and leaning on Luongo. I guess you're right though, if that's what you do best then you go with that when you have the lead. We just need to not let them get into that position anymore. I believe you nailed it, an early Hawk lead takes them out of that style, I don't think a one goal lead would be enough. If the Hawks can somehow build an early 2 goal lead they'll have to open it up which plays to Hawks strength.
  4. Were does interference figure into the equation for Vancouver?
  5. Man I hate Tejada not, only are the Cubs the only team he hits, he acts like he's just had the WS winning hit with every one.
  6. Yes!!! I'm glad the Hawks overcame the Vancouver lock down.
  7. They definitely gone into to lock down mode content to try win it 1-0.
  8. This post makes me want to see Berkman run from a lightning strike again. I don't know which I like better: That clip, or the clip of A-Rod slapping the ball away like a girl during the 2004 ALCS. When I hear Berkman I think of him playing dead when he got beaned in 2004.
  9. The 1984 NLCS was a best of five and San Diego got homefield advantage based on the rotation they used at the time. Didn't the NL West get HFA in 1983? Meaning the NL East winner should have had HFA in 1984?
  10. I gotta think the Cubs should win this one tonight however, didn't Ortiz shut the Cubs down for a few innings during the season opening series? By the way, can anyone remember why game 5, a day game, of the 1984 NLCS was played in San Diego when the Cubs had HFA?
  11. Anyone have the baa or number of hits Cub pitchers give up in 0-2 counts?
  12. 'Bout time the opposition didn't rob a Cub of a hit by pulling a catch out their asses.
  13. The interesting aspect of these Conference Semi-finals beyond, of course, the Hawks being involved is the style of hockey. I may be completely wrong but, in Anaheim and Vancouver I see teams that dump and chase, hit, grind, take shots looking for rebounds leading to low scoring games. In complete contrast are the Black Hawks and Red Wings, they like open ice, carry the puck in, look to get goalie out of position with passing and score the highlight goal, would rather keep the puck in the middle of the ice than grind it out along the boards, basically they don't slow the game down to a crawl. I'm really hoping for a Chicago-Detroit conference final, I don't think anyone would watch a Vancouver-Anaheim match up.
  14. Nice win, maybe Soto' turned the corner? Looks to me like he's going to start tearing the cover off the ball soon. As for Z, I,ve never seen such a sport were so many players get injured simply running, football players manage to play 16 games running full speed at each other. Yet, a baseball player can't even run to first base without getting hurt.
  15. Honestly, the first thing the Bulls need to do this offseason is find a real head coach. I know that's not happening, but Vinny is as bad as it gets. He has no plan for anything. Indeed, Celtics did the same things for 7 games, nothing from Vinnie, no defensive adjustments, zilch, how do retain such a coach?
  16. I don't expect the Bulls to win, some BS call or non-call will lead to their demise but, I'd like to see them play some better defense today. I mentioned they don't play defense perhaps, I should have said they don't play much defense. For six games now I've seen the same things from the Celtics yet, Vinnie has been unable to make defensive adjustments to counter them. I've seen: 1. Ray Allen - all he wants to do is come off screens and shoot 3's 2. Paul Peirce - left, left, left, first, middle and last moves always to his left
  17. I know it's probably asking a bit much but, could Khabi direct those rebounds to the left or right instead of the middle? Maybe, it's not possible with every rebound but, an awful lot his seem to go towards the middle of the Hawks' zone.
  18. Anyone else have the feeling the Bulls have won despite themselves? They got a clueless coach, they don't play defense (this is the primary reason Rondo has looked "good") and continue to make the same mistakes yet, they've managed to win 3 games and send it back to Boston. Wasn't Rose' block of Rondo' shot a thing of beauty?
  19. Of course, we'll never know and I'd like to believe that's true but, I'm not certain a flagrant foul isn't called. And we all know Big Baby would have fallen to ground unconscious for added effect.
  20. Being the Devil's Advocate - What if the tables were turned? Bulls up, 2+ seconds on the clock, etc., do the Bulls get called for a flagrant foul?
  21. Falling into the elbow leading Pierce you mean?
  22. Arizona an apparently terrible offensive team scores 21 runs in 3 games, since the Cubs are struggling can they somehow play themselves this weekend?
  23. Ultimately it doesn't matter because win or lose the Celtics are going win as many NBA Championships as the Bulls will this season - 0. I didn't expect much from the Bulls this series, I'd only like to see them win to stick it to Garnett. All his antics and crap, gosh I would have loved to see him pull that sh*t on MJ. MJ would have not only beaten him, he would have rubbed it in his face for good measure.
