  1. I think he had better worry about making the playoffs first. Actually, the Cubs have needed another lefty in the bullpen since Cotts imploded. Gorzelanny and Marshall add a lot of depth to the starting rotation in case of injuries, poor performance, or team matchups. Also, don't forget the impact of this trade on the future. If Grabow doesn't meet expectations, he could net the Cubs 2 draft picks. Marshall and Gorzelanny could step right in as possible starters if Harden isn't resigned. I wouldn't agree with that line of thinking I suggested in regard to the postseason, just wondered why he has picked up this many lefty arms/projects the last couple months... Grabow won't be netting us two draft picks, and I honestly don't see the need for him and his career 1.45 whip. Sounds like a luckier, lefty version of Heilman. If we needed a loogy, why get one who lefties hit .275 against? Heilman - 47.1 ip, 40K, 30BB, 46 hits, 4.56 era, 1.61 whip Grabow - 47.1 ip, 41K, 28BB, 43 hits, 3.42 era, 1.50 whip I like the high upside with Gorzo, though. I believe this is the best part of deal, in the long term who has the potential to be a better 5th starter? I like Gorzelanny over Hart.
  2. Well it's a 10-game road trip. (3 FLA, 3 CIN, 4 COL). 6-4 would be good. However, with St. Louis' schedule, that might not be enough to keep the Cubs in 1st. They have Houston (3), Mets (2), Pit (3) and then Cin (3). The only good pitchers they face (Wandy, Oswalt, Santana) will be facing Carpenter, Wainwright, and Pineiro respectively, so they could conceivably have a favorable pitching matchup in every game. The Cubs get the Phils when they get home. So, 7-3 would be ideal. Sweeping FL might be too much to ask. Sweeping Cincy again will be tough. 3-1 vs. a good Col team will be tough too. But, 2-1, 2-1, 3-1 is doable. I like that, if Cubs keep winning series from here on out they be in playoffs regardless of what the Cardinals do.
  3. Game over LA wins 5-3 and Cubs pick up a game in the loss column!!!!
  4. Unbelievable, Thurston goes up with no intention of swinging the bat, hoping, praying for BB and, of course, he draws a BB!
  5. Well, alright!! It's about time LA didn't let them off the hook.
  6. 9 effing pitches for Franklin that inning
  7. Looking at his stats Ankiel really does suck, 9,1,2 coming up for the Dodgers, who knows maybe Manny the Great will finally do some damage this inning.
  8. I'd walk Pujols, take my chances with Holliday
  9. Seriously Brendan Ryan? Pujols, Holliday, or Ludwick couldnt have fouled a ball off their leg? That kind of crap happens only to the Cubs, D. Lee sleeps in a funny position and is out with neck spasms, while the likes of an a-bomb could be dropped on Pujols, etc. and they come out of it without a scratch.
  10. There ya go Randy your SS isn't going to make that play if it gets past you.
  11. And it's Kershaw vs Pinerio tonight, there's a real good chance the Cubs are going to pick up a game in the loss column. Unless, of course, Pinerio' smoke and mirrors manages to mesmerize the Dodgers tonight.
  12. Gets ahead of beaker and then he walks him!
  13. What's worse an E6 or Carlos Lee with an infield single?
  14. When Hill rips you, you know you're bad!!!!!
  15. Didn't think the Cubs would sweep this series, still, I think they'll get that game back in the loss column over the next two days.
  16. Dempster needs to be fined for swinging that inning
  17. he looks like a muppet Never thought of that but, you're right on.
  18. I know its wrong but, anyone else hate bug eyes Pence?
  19. Cubs better be prepared to score 8+ runs tonight because, numb nuts is throwing BP tonight.
  20. That didn't look even remotely like a strike
  21. Looking at the replay of Fontenot' bunt attempt - wow, talk about pathetic.
