  1. He isnt going to be a HOFer, but Cleary has been a 40 point a season scorer for the Wings. He has also been very good as a playoff performer. He is a top 6 forward on the defending Stanley Cup champions. Not exactly a bad player. I know but, you think once Khabibulin wouldn't look like such fool against him, it's not like it's Ovechkin, Crosby or Datsuk he's facing.
  2. I know Campbell screwed up but, when will Khabibulin make that big save? Cleary twice? Come on. He's been ordinary from the very second the Hawks gave him that big money, regardless of how this season ends I won't shed a tear when he's shown the door. These are some of the names the Cubs and Hawks lost to last night - Pineiro, Molina, Rasmus and Cleary - yeah there's a collection of HOF'ers.
  3. Took a glance at some of the Wings boards, many if not all of their fans seem to think that every one of the FA's will sign cap-friendly deals, is that realistic? Conversely, they believe cap issues will break up the Hawks, funny how Wings fans think they are the only team in the NHL capable of signing players to cap-friendly deals.
  4. The Red Wings are the better team now and won, no problem with that but, it sucks when a scrub like Cleary is the one who scored the big goals.
  5. Honestly, I can hardly tell anymore. Toews-Kane-Brouwer Sharp-Havlat-Pahlsson Byfuglien-Bolland-Versteeg Eager-Burish-Ladd It's too early, my brain isn't working. But that's my best stab at what I've seen out there, at least in the Vancouver series. But I've seen Eager out there with 19-88, and various other combinations. You think they'd split up Ladd-Bolland-Havlat? Been a damn good line... who knows with Q, though. I like that line quite a bit, especially Bolland, he plays under the radar but, here's a player, 22, who has scored 79 and 57 goals in the GTHL and OHL. Along with scoring 146 and 130 points - he's no slouch for a third line center.
  6. What are the Hawks' lines? Though at times Quenneville appears to be mixing and matching his lines.
  7. Go Ducks!!! I asked about the Hawks overtaking the Wings in the near future, people mentioned cap decisions. I gotta believe the Wings aren't immune to this as well, I don't have the numbers in front of me but, its probably safe to say every team will be faced with tough cap decisions. What offers me encouragement is the Wings don't have a young core such as the Hawks, they're still highly skilled and probably the best team in the NHL. Yet, many of their key players are 30+ old additionally, from what I've seen their farm system ranks amongst the lower third in NHL whereas, the Hawks' is in the top ten. In the past Illict was able to buy the best team, with the cap in place it severely limits his ability to do so which means more of reliance on the farm system where the Hawks have the edge.
  8. i really, sincerely doubt it. they might be able to steal 2, but likely will be outplayed nearly all series. the ducks haven't a prayer either of coming back in the series. you'll see something like 5-1 tonight. Do you think the Hawks have a chance of over taking the Red Wings in the next few years?
  9. If they end up playing the Red Wings I believe they have a chance but, at this point the Red Wings are the better team. One thing the Hawks will have going for them vs the Wings is shaky goal tending in Osgood of course, that same factor is working against the Hawks.
  10. Well, turns out Luonogo was correct in predicting a Game 7 - WSH-PIT.
  11. Heard on the Score apparently, Luongo is predicting a Game 7 hopefully, he was talking about ANA-DET, BOS-CAR or PIT-WSH.
  12. I don't advocate hitting a player but, I'm very much in favor of making Braun hit some dirt. A-hole wants to go out of his way to show up the opposition he then deserves every bit of getting knocked down.
  13. The Kane pass and resulting Bolland goal were things of beauty Saturday night, sometimes I think Kane should score more goals. But, then I see his passing and realize his real talent or value is in setting up his team mates. I'm thinking the Hawks have a very good chance tonight unless Vancouver is able to pull off the near-perfect defensive performance of Game 3. However, as we saw in Game 4 its very difficult to play and maintain such a style game after game - even if the Canucks managed to do it for 117 odd minutes.
  14. I was pretty disappointed in the Cubs approach to Hoffman' smoke and mirrors last night, no one could get to those bp fastballs he was throwing? Bradley especially sucked, he took a couple of the pathetic Hoffman fastballs and they weren't even well located. And by the way, Soto really, really, really sucks.
  15. I don't think it was a poor strategy. It certainly wasn't fan-friendly, but it's not their job to entertain us. Their strategy worked like a champ against the Hawks all night and if not for an amazing hussle play and sweet pass by Ladd, followed by a perfect shot by Havlat, the strategy probably would have led to a win. I'm still waiting for that game where the Hawks blow up for the first minute and run them out of the building like they did the Flames in one the games, Game 5, I think. It would be nice to see them repeat that effort. LOL @ the Havlat photoshop job. Yeah -- we need to get the early lead for once. That would be the thing that stops Vancouver from playing to their strength, going with the snuff-out strategy and leaning on Luongo. I guess you're right though, if that's what you do best then you go with that when you have the lead. We just need to not let them get into that position anymore. I believe you nailed it, an early Hawk lead takes them out of that style, I don't think a one goal lead would be enough. If the Hawks can somehow build an early 2 goal lead they'll have to open it up which plays to Hawks strength.
  16. Were does interference figure into the equation for Vancouver?
  17. Man I hate Tejada not, only are the Cubs the only team he hits, he acts like he's just had the WS winning hit with every one.
  18. Yes!!! I'm glad the Hawks overcame the Vancouver lock down.
  19. They definitely gone into to lock down mode content to try win it 1-0.
  20. This post makes me want to see Berkman run from a lightning strike again. I don't know which I like better: That clip, or the clip of A-Rod slapping the ball away like a girl during the 2004 ALCS. When I hear Berkman I think of him playing dead when he got beaned in 2004.
  21. The 1984 NLCS was a best of five and San Diego got homefield advantage based on the rotation they used at the time. Didn't the NL West get HFA in 1983? Meaning the NL East winner should have had HFA in 1984?
  22. I gotta think the Cubs should win this one tonight however, didn't Ortiz shut the Cubs down for a few innings during the season opening series? By the way, can anyone remember why game 5, a day game, of the 1984 NLCS was played in San Diego when the Cubs had HFA?
  23. Anyone have the baa or number of hits Cub pitchers give up in 0-2 counts?
