Simple answer Nagy is playing "not to lose" which means take no chances, be conservative, play field position, etc. never mind that to beat these fucks you're going to have to be aggressive and take some chances. It's soooooo easy to coach against a Nagy team, you don't have worry about them going for it, he's predictably pathetic.

Even with Kershaw and Muncy Dodgers should be heavy favorites, Giants may have had the better, by one game, regular season but, they are not the better team. The Giants are a one season phenomenon, I'd say they are excellent candidates for 30+ game swing next season - 100+ wins to 70+ and out the playoffs next season. Still, why can't this kind of Giants gypsy magic [expletive] happen for the Cubs, just once? I'd take it. A 30 game swing for the Cubs' current roster puts them at .500 for next year. Ok, I had 30+ above, you're correct, was not thinking in terms of 15-15 which would put them at 86-76, no? How about a 50+ game swing, would that work?

How confident are you in Dalton against the Raiders D? Not at all, in fact, Dalton at QB would be just the tonic, get back, feel good about themselves the Raiders' D needs. Dalton starting does not give the Bears a chance to win, it's an automatic loss.

Didn't see anything special from the Raiders, their defense is not good, if the Bears can give Justin some decent protection. He'll gash them, there's no reason to believe Mooney won't continue to run by people and we've seen, thankfully and it's about horsefeathering time, that the Bears have a QB who can actually hit on the deep ball. Unlike recent times opponents are going to have to respect the Bears ability to go deep.

I'm not here to form opinions on Fields right now because it's way too early. But I don't get why Bears fans are acting like Fields is some sure thing. I don't think anyone has said he's a sure thing. What Bears fans are "acting like" is open to interpretation. But what is clear is he is the most talented QB the Bears have ever had on the roster in their 102 years of existence. But I also think most of us are aware what happened to the last guy that with great talent (Cutler). I don't think Fields is a sure thing, but he's as close to a sure thing as the Bears have ever had And if he fails, I think it will say more about the organization as a whole than him as a talent. Today was exhibit A, sure Garrett had and the Browns D had a great day, blah, blah, blah but, Nagy was 80% of reason why they had such a great day.

They handed the ball off to Montgomery 10 times all game. In their rookie QBs’ first start, the Bears only handed the ball off to their best offensive player 10 times. And they weren’t down by enough points to justify not running the ball. I went into the game thinking there would be a lot more straight up runs and a lot more run pass options or gadget plays. Far fewer drop back passes. I can’t even conceive why Nagy thought this would work. I honestly believe Nagy has no clue as to what will work against anyone.

What exactly is roughing the passer? Bears get called for falling on the QB, Browns, on more than one occasion, hit Fields late and in the head and that's OK?

Of course it did, very frustrating, there's myriad of ways one can be aggressive on offense in today' NFL regardless of the offensive line, we'll never see with Nagy. He's too scared, conservative to go down swinging, thinks his play not lose, limit mistakes approach is going to save his job which, it won't, in fact, it'll do the opposite and cost him his job. What was the point of Pace trying to upgrade speed at the receiving spots again?

Fixed, I used to think he's getting held like crazy and for whatever reason teams are being allowed to do so but, I don think that's it, the guy's toast. He done having big impact games or being the guy other teams have to specifically scheme to stop. I still wonder how he finished as the number 1 graded Linebacker on PFF's grades last season. Not that PFF is end all be all, but its looking at every snap he took and how he specifically performed on that play. Either he's doing a bunch of horsefeathers that goes unnoticed (beyond drawing double/triple teams) or there's a flaw in the system. As you said, there must be something else, he's been pretty much invisible for what, at least the last two seasons?

A lot of good points here. I am willing to be proven wrong but I just can't see a way that Nagy leads the Bears to a competent offense. Even if Fields eventually gets in there and plays well, I think his playcalling and game planning will always hold the offense back from being good, unless seeing him play well finally gives him the confidence to stop being a conservative turd. I think he's just not the guy, though if he was willing to hand the playcalling reigns over to someone more competent he could be the coach that oversees everything and fosters a good locker room which he seems to do well. That's the only way Nagy works as a head coach IMO, but he seems to have too big of an ego to permanently allow someone else to call plays. You saw how reluctant he was to do it last year, and when the offense had a couple decent games in a row he quickly took control back and the offense faltered again (though admittedly it may be because they played the Packers and Saints) Spot on, last year, he had the perfect chance to let it all hang out against the Saints, it was the ultimate what the horsefeathers game. And he still couldn't bring himself to be aggressive, I'm beginning to think he could have Mahomes, Rodgers or Brady and still manage to be the supremely incompetent wuss that he is.

Yeah, Nagy' ball-less-ness is getting real tiresome, his offense has been hot garbage. I know its only pre-season but, he's shown nothing hopeful even with a decently average QB.

I am so glad the Bears were never able to trade for or taken seriously as a destination for Carson Wentz. Had they been able to complete the trade, Justin Fields would be elsewhere, I also believe Wentz would have been a colossal failure as a Bear.

No, part of Rodgers thing is no one even told him they were drafting Love, and people are contrasting that with the fact that Nagy called Dalton twice making GB look worse. After Trubisky, the red flag around the ability to quickly go through progressions must be the reddest of red flags for the Bears and especially Pace, no? So, given this, I guess the question is he capable of learning what Mitch never could? just because OSU's first read was open 85% of the time doesnt mean Fields cant read the coverage. He may be untested, but to write him off seems unfounded maybe Hence the question of whether he's capable or not and the only way to answer it is to draft him and give it a go. However, as has been mentioned the football gods have to smile on the Bears in a big way for Fields to even be a realistic possibility. And when have they smiled upon the Bears in recent memory or ever?

I'm amazed at how Fields has fallen from clear #2 pick at the start of the college football season to fourth or fifth QB on the board. Wilson seems awesome, but he did it for one season against weak competition. Jones seems to have a limited ceiling compared to the other four in his athleticism, and also did it for one season with an NFL roster around him. Lance hasn't played since 2019 and started for one season, too. Fields has had some awful games, but he also balled out against Clemson after taking that big hit. If he fells to 13 somehow I would expect Pace to go up and get him. And I'd be hapy about it. Not sure what it would take to get there, maybe a 2nd and next years first? What is the biggest reservation people have with Fields? I've read something about how he went to his first option like 85% of the time last season or something so there were questions about his ability to go through progressions in the NFL when the defenses are faster and the first option isn't always open like at OSU, but that's about it. Athleticism, arm strength, accruacy all see 90+ percentile. There is discussion about social biases in place and its a fair discussion but anything else from a pure football standpoint that is giving these teams pause? Adam Miller is transferring, one of the potential land spots being mentioned is Kentucky? Let's see if I've got it straight - Miller, basically a standstill spot up shooter, is leaving a program with quite probably the best PG in the conference and going to a program with multitudes of players of more ability than him? A program where there's an excellent chance he'll hardly see the floor, makes perfect sense.
