  1. Getting Mitch on the move was obviously key to the game, it seems, for once, Nagy figured out how to put him in the best position to succeed. I would think the game plan should not change much vs. the Packers, their pass rush has improved but, their not so good everywhere else, very vulnerable. Bears get Hicks back do not how much he'll play nor what impact he's going have, at the very least, his presence should fire them up.
  2. This is cool - Playoff Odds Simulator One scenario for the Bears - they win out + Week 14 - Seahawks beat Rams at LA, Week 15 - Vikings lose to the Chargers in LA, Rams beat the Cowboys in Dallas, Week 16 - 49ers beat the Rams in San Francisco. The main point is winning out, it's almost impossible but, could happen. Assuming they win out, those other game outcomes above are not completely unreasonable.
  3. Just for shits and giggles in addition to the Bears the Blackhawks managed to beat the Bruins in Boston. Whatever it was for Chicago teams last night, they need to bottle it, not used to my teams enjoying such success. Hell, maybe, even the Illini won't start 0-2 in the Big Ten!
  4. Maybe he's finally said horsefeathers it, if I don't play aggressive, I'm going to be done after 2020. It's about time, at this point, there's literally nothing to lose perhaps, he's figured that out as well.
  5. What the horsefeathers was that? I mentioned something about the Bears flipping the script however, I never thought it as a possibility, more wishing, hoping on my part. But, seriously, what the horsefeathers was that, someone called Mack getting to the QB, Bears looking competent, getting a big lead and having their opponent score in garbage time? A TE making plays? I didn't think the Bears knew they could use a TE on offense of course, they lack of is due to how terrible Burton and Shaheen have been but, it did take them 10+ games figure that out. And, in true Bear fashion, they win but lose Roquan Smith quite probably for the season.
  6. Nothing would be a miracle in 4 games. And that's without taking into account a very good defense seeing the return of Akiem Hicks next week. Good defenses muck things up and keep games close that maybe don't look like they should be. Do I think it's gonna happen? Probably not would be an understatement. But it'd be far from a miracle. On the other hand, that along with the other dominoes falling for them to get in is pretty close to necessitating the assistance of a higher being. I go back and forth, on one hand you've got the defense able to keep them in the game, keeping it close. That seems to, according to Nagy, necessitate a conservative play not to lose game plan which has led to close losses but, losses, nonetheless. On the other hand, because of defense keeping it close, why not be super aggressive on offense? Take shot after shot downfield, sure it may result in turnovers but, there's also a chance it'll result in scores. At least a greater chance in scores than that of the boring conservative avoid turnovers mode.
  7. Neither Nagy nor Pagano drafted Floyd. What do you expect them to say? I agree and understand the politics, but Floyd's lack of production is just one of many frustrating aspects of this season.
  8. Heard Nagy and Pagano trying to say something good about Leonard Floyd on the Score. It was pathetic the best they could muster was Floyd is a hard worker who does everything they ask of him. Pagano said he's a "sweep the floors?" kind of guy, whatever the horsefeathers that means. Basically, they said the kind of things one says when trying to be nice, Floyd is a bust and they know it, his lack of impact is one of the reasons Mack has been invisible this season. However, tonight, sure would be nice if Mack shows up.
  9. Last night Illini come out loafing, get down 27 in the first half then, after half, they decide to play and almost pull it out. Bad enough it's against an average to bad Miami team afterwards, Underwood says its on him. Apparently, Underwood says, they had one of worst, unfocused shoot-arounds he's ever seen, how could Whitman not be pissed off? Losing is one thing however, losing and not trying is inexcusable. If I'm Whitman and I see that kind of lack of effort again, I fire Underwood on the spot. Looks like a third consecutive 0-2 start to the Big Ten season is imminent, with the talent he has, if he doesn't get them to the Big Dance. I have to believe he's done and the Illinois will be looking for another HC - again. Unfocused shoot-around/practice what of a [expletive] excuse is that?
  10. Most frustrating is the thought that with any semblance of an offense the Bears could be 8 - 4 (GB, LAC) or 9 - 3 (GB, LAC, LAR/PHI) and right there for the division and/or wild card. Just pisses me off they lost to the collections of hot garbage that are Raiders and Eagles.
  11. How about the Bears flip the script come out and beat down knock the horsefeathers out of the Cowboys? It's got happen, at least once, why not vs the Cowboys?
  12. Yeah...whether or not Iowa is any good, or Boston College for that matter, they went on the road and beat 2 high major teams. That's not nothing, and at the very least proves that DePaul is a decent team. Of course we're hoping that they are better than decent, but its a nice step to not see them completely suck at the very least. I root for 3 teams in college basketball, Michigan (childhood team), DePaul (alma mater) and Dayton (wife's alma mater) probably in that order. All 3 are undefeated and are surprising me. Probably won't last much longer with Michigan in a tourney with Iowa State, UNC, Gonzaga, Seton Hall and Oregon, Dayton playing Kansas today and DePaul playing Texas Tech next week, but its been fun and I hope they can keep playing well. Update: one of those teams did lose unfortunately. It was Dayton in OT to Kansas. Other than that Michigan just crushed 2 top 10 teams, Dayton destroyed a team that beat MSU the day before and DePaul notched their 3rd power 5 conference road win. 20-1 overall and I’d guess at least 2 if not all 3 of them will be ranked on Monday. I love college basketball. And while I’m riding high on endorphins, Michigan may have somehow upgraded their head coaching in the offseason. And that’s no disrespect to Beilein Blue Demons did well, lead the game almost from start to finish and were on the verge of blowing them out, next is Texas Tech in Chicago.
  13. The debate over Mitch' performance aside there's one undeniable outcome of today's game - Roquan Smith has awaken and is starting to play like the beast we all know he can be. Actually, his awakening may have begun with the game vs. the Rams.
  14. Why didn't they blitz more often? They did manage to generate a little pressure but, I would have thought with a 3rd string QB playing his first game, they would thrown the kitchen stink at him. Granted it was hold city on most of the big passing plays the Lions had but, why not blitz, blitz, blitz?
  15. Solid? I don't know how you can reasonably expect him to play better. Sure he could've ran for the first at the end of the half and the INT (against a top 5 CB) sucked, but take away those 2 plays and that game was essentially perfection. 76% complete with 2 drops. Made deep throws to both sides of the field and all the intermediate throws in the middle. Sent from my moto e5 supra using Tapatalk What does solid mean for you? I meant it as a compliment. He was good. I do wonder though if his shoulder is still bothering him. Don’t know why else he would be running backwards to avoid contact like he did a couple times today. Had they lost I would have blamed the defense, for a change, the offense wasn't the problem, Mitch was not terrible. Hell, he was, in fact, good, Montgomery was good, as was Miller, there was also a TE who seemed like a legitimate football player.
  16. True enough, they'll be playing Minnesota in Minneapolis Friday, Gophers are not that special but, probably better than Iowa. Guess the game following Minnesota, vs. Texas Tech will be the real test. Last night Central Michigan played amongst it's best halves of basketball all season, had the Blue Demons down 18 at halftime. Blue Demons shut them down in the second half and scored 56 points winning by 13. It's been such a long time since the Blue Demons mattered, seeing a resurgence at the start of this season is great.
  17. Oh no. Who’s going to drop passes that hit them right in the hands now? Braunecker was just in the way of the Jesper Horsted train leaving the station. Choo Choo. All aboard. It's been mentioned that Burton is probably done as a Bear, is safe to assume Shaheen is done as well?
  18. There may actually be a relevant team in Chicago this season - DePaul - 6 - 0. They beat BC on the road last Saturday earlier, they hammered Iowa in Iowa City, they've got Minnesota in Minneapolis followed by Texas Tech, that should show if this team is truly legitimate. For the moment Paul Reed is looking like an NBA player, the freshman, Romeo Weems, is solid and Charlie Moore is coming around.
  19. Game shouldn't have been that close, the last Giant TD was a prayer that was answered.
  20. Exactly, when I re-read it didn't make sense to me either, should he show signs of moderate improvement in 2020, do not want the Bears fooled into giving him a financially crippling extension. If he shows only moderate signs of improvement the team won't be that much better and I would expect them not to give him an extension. Logically your statement is correct however, we're talking about Pace, who invested so much in Mitch, don't you think he'd find any excuse to re-up. Rather, than finally admit his mistake and move on?
  21. They'll try to find the Mahomes-iest pick they can, but just end up with some Air Raid guy with a lots a confidence but 1/3 the arm talent. A guy confident QB with a lesser arm is still an improvement over Mitch, no?
  22. what? I think he's worried if the Bears turn it around with Mitch they'll give him a dumb extension. Exactly, when I re-read it didn't make sense to me either, should he show signs of moderate improvement in 2020, do not want the Bears fooled into giving him a financially crippling extension.
  23. Yes, a castoff like Alex Smith plus Andy Reid plus a 1st round pick. The Bears are not in the situation KC was in. The Bears will not have an Andy Reid to pull that off. They are better off trying to grow with the guys they have and hope Nagy learns from mistakes and together with Pace they get the right guy in 2021. Pace made the team better than it was, Nagy got the most out of them last year. There is something there with this group. They need to fix the offensive line and then draft a QB in 2021. I just don't think Nagy is the guy to lead the team anymore. Since I don't think they'll move on from him, I'll hope 2019 is the outlier and not 2018, but the best case scenario seems like he's a good HC who will need to hire good OCs to run his system, which obviously wasn't the purpose of hiring an offensive minded HC. It's got to a new QB in 2020, with Mitch as the backup, 3rd string whatever. Because what if Nagy, or someone else, finally figures out how to utilize Mitch' strengths, the Bears have a good 2020, make the playoffs. etc.? Somewhat of false positive, they'll probably extend Mitch and the Bears will be in the same boat as the Rams with Goff - not good.
  24. I know Mitch has been terrible but, once again, a super winnable game, and Nagy refuses to be aggressive. Had several chances last night, most especially on a makeable 4th down, 6 or so minutes, around midfield, any chance they had of winning called for a bold move. Instead, a punt, I believe we all knew the game was over at that point. This whole playing it safe, don't turn the ball over try to keep it close is not working, we can see this, why can't Nagy horsefeathering see it? So the horsefeathers what if Mitch throws 6 interceptions? There's literally nothing to play for, it's garbage time for the remainder of the season, grow some balls you horsefeathering gutless horsefeathers Nagy!
  25. Guess the author tried to reach Pace with no success, Pace is certainly to blame for this mess. However, in some respects I can sympathize with Pace refusing to comment. Just how many times in how many ways can you be told you fucked up? Before growing a thin skin and telling someone who wishes to document you're failure, once again, to horsefeathers off? The one thing we can't blame Pace for is the bust of Roquan Smith, he was widely hailed as one of the best picks of the 2018 draft, all teams would have drafted him in the spot he was chosen. There isn't a NFL GM or front office in existence that could have anticipated Roquan would have whatever problems he's having.
