I could be on board with retaining the picks, go OL with the first rounder and looking at a QB pick on day 2 - Mills or Trask - just please, no Mond. Mond scouting reports suggest he' a Trubisky clone.

I'm on board with that, offense is the key in today' NFL, the game, the rules favor offense.

I would bet heavily against the possibility of Pace getting to hire another head coach. I don't remember who said it nevertheless, I'm not so certain its win or else for Pace, for Nagy yes.

I'm not getting this Trubisky is/was better for the Bears than Dalton or Foles stuff. It comes down to Nagy, Trubisky was not, is not, will never be better for him, what so horsefeathering hard to understand? Regardless of what he says, your HC doesn't believe in the QB. By no means am I suggesting we'll see a marked improvement, on the contrary, I'm expecting a disaster of a season topped off by the firing of Nagy and keeping Pace.

The "refused to develop him" storyline is idiotic. No reasonable person believes that one. Trubisky sucks. The draft prognosticators rate horsefeathers QBs very high all the time. Trubisky may suck, but he's statistically better than either of the QBs the Bears now have on their roster and is likely to sign a contract for significantly less than what the Bears are paying either Foles or Dalton this year. With Dalton or Foles you've at least a shot a real passing game, Nagy never trusted Trubisky, was never going to, I'm not saying they'll be a marked improvement. But, at least, Nagy will try run a real NFL offense with Dalton or Foles, that's something.

If they do not move up were looking at Trask or Mond? Or worse; move up to take Task or Mond If they move up I have to think its going be in a position to draft Fields, Lance or Jones.

There will be, but he'll be bench-riding the year behind Dalton and Foles. Or Foles and Dalton. Could go either way, big drama. I imagine the guy will definitely start the year on the bench and I'm fine with that. If they do not move up were looking at Trask or Mond?

Might be a bit rash and an overreaction but, its obvious Pace is terrible, nothing good or productive is going to come of this Dalton signing. By the way what are the reasons to believe these guys can figure out the problems? Pace cleaned up a disastrous roster and made it pretty good. For a team with terrible QB play, they've won a lot of games. I do not think it is obvious he is terrible. I think he's obviously competent with some major shortcomings. But as I mentioned before, the guy doesn't hesitate to move on from mistakes. He made a huge mistake with Mitch, and is now in the process of attempting to find the right draft pick QB with the help of people who actually know about the position (something he didn't have/utilize when selecting Mitch). Dalton is a misuse of assets, which is probably Pace's worst trait but it sure feels like QB is this year's kicker/TE position where he brings in multiple guys to try and find the right guy. It is fairly obvious that the depth chart in 2021 isn't going to be Foles/Dalton/Bray. They are going to take some sort of shot in the draft if they are not able to convince Seattle or Houston to make a move before then. Hell, it could come down to the last second to see if whatever player Seattle or Houston wants is available to them at whatever draft pick the Bears are able to offer this year. It's still possible they do something like trade Foles to Philly where he's still a legend in the process of stockpiling picks to move up in the draft. The QB rooms isn't done being addressed. It sucks right now, but there's almost certainly more to come. As you said, I'll give him credit for his ability to move on from mistakes that's good a thing however, wouldn't you think an inability to correctly utilize assets is a pretty damning thing for a GM? I think it to be a pretty strong assumption now that there's not going to be a trade for Wilson or Watson, that leaves moving up in the draft.

Yep and with an ownership that's apparently OK with being a laughing stock, guess the money must still be good. Because they sure as horsefeathers don't care about winning on the football field. This is kind of a ridiculous claim. They fired a winning coach because he didn't win enough. They cleaned house on their replacement two years later when it became obvious they'd taken a huge step back. They went for stability in the aftermath then moved on to a new coach from a winning program with the expectation he'd be able to win more and they got immediate results. They took steps back but have reason to believe these guys can figure out the problems. If they don't improve they'll be replaced. The owners obviously care about winning on the football field. They have a wonky leadership situation with the family accountant with too much input but there is nothing in the way they run this team that suggests they don't want to win. Guess the Bears odds of winning the SB went down after the Dalton signing which I find to be horsefeathering hilarious.

Wilbon going off on Pace and Nagy, it has some merit but, I believe he's incorrect regarding Nagy' unwillingness to coach Trubisky. The simple fact is the NFL is too fast for Trubisky, he's mentally incapable of the type of processing that's necessary for success. No amount of coaching is ever going to fix Trubisky.

Book it.

I guess that's a good way to look at it so, assuming Dalton is the starter, is he someone Nagy can "trust" enough to finally see an attempt at an NFL passing game? He doesn't seem much different from a Nick Foles.

I'm not entirely convinced these guys have a 1 year mandate. That's very reasonable, we all think it so and it probably should be so but, with this ownership, who knows.

Are we rehashing last year? Yea Pace was aggressive and didn't want to wait out the QB market, like he should have. He traded for Foles because the Bengals/Panthers asking prices were too high for Dalton/Newton. But like that's all sunk cost and way too many fans apparently have a view that Foles is just a bed Pace has to lie in and not spend any other money on a QB unless it's Wilson? It's not my fault it's relevant again. Pace made a choice last year that looked dumb at the time and looks even worse in hindsight. My hope was that for scouting/scheme/personnel reasons that would go over my head, Dalton wasn't a fit. But if they bring him in now that's clearly not the case. Dalton works on this roster. He's a quality backup either for a big acquisition or as a caddy for a draft pick. And I assume Dalton + Foles' dead money will be less than Foles salary (and if not, horsefeathering christ Pace). I wouldn't give him the benefit of the doubt, when has Pace ever shown himself to adept or even capable of making a smart move?
