  1. Can anyone explain replacing Schwarber with a worst version of him in Pederson? Will this [expletive] every get a hit as a Cub?
  2. Me neither, just don't get it, hopefully, Underwood has something in the works to replace him. Seriously, starting on a program back on the rise, would have had a great PG to set him up next season, what the horsefeathers else could he want? It doesn't make sense at all, unless like you said Underwood has something in the works. While its surprising, there's nothing the Illini got from Miller that they couldn't get from almost literally thousands of transfer candidates and as yet unsigned/uncommitted 2021 recruits. So. if I'm Underwood I'm fine, good luck, goodbye Adam, next.
  3. I don't get it, he was a starter and played 25-30 minutes per game. Curbelo was more the pure point guard, but Miller was the shooting guard poised to take over Ayo's shot volume most of all. Me neither, just don't get it, hopefully, Underwood has something in the works to replace him. Seriously, starting on a program back on the rise, would have had a great PG to set him up next season, what the horsefeathers else could he want?
  4. As usual, the takeaway from the NCAA tournament is "Man, the NCAA tournament is so random." and rarely "Man, the NCAA tournament really shows who the best teams are." Though there's a chance the best 2 teams do actually make the championship game this year, which has happened...maybe 4-5 times before? If the format was changed to double elimination would we see more of the better teams make it to the FF? Look at what Loyola did to the Illini, nearly perfect for one game would they be able to pull that off again in a best of 3 vs. the Illini? I have my doubts.
  5. It's one of those inexplicably lucky events that occur for a team like UCLA to make it to the FF. I'm certain not everyone of FT attempts were by shooters with good averages however, I did see plenty of misses by Michigan from shooters with good averages the other night.
  6. At least they got to Elite 8 and didn't crap the bed like the Illini. Yeah, yeah I know the Illini played an under-seeded team, which, quite probably played the collective game of their lives. But, I'm convinced with a few adjustments the Illini could have come back and won the game. Not understanding why they had Dickinson in bounding the ball instead of trying to run a play for him on that last possession. Of course, with the way the night was progressing for Michigan he'd probably drawn a foul and missed one or both of he FT's.
  7. Good showing by Michigan, made it to the Elite Eight, further than I thought they'd go. But, honestly, that Mike Smith sucks, might be the height but, it didn't seem to bother Tyger Campbell all that much, there's a reason Smith was in the Ivy League.
  8. And just like that all the nonsense about Loyola being a NC contender is put to rest, zone? Who knew a zone against a team without the best handles and a PG capable of breaking anyone down off the dribble would work? Not much of stretch from a coaching viewpoint, what do think coach Underwood? Man its frustrating to think if Underwood benched Frazier, started Curbelo in the 2nd half and pressed or zoned them there's a better than average chance the outcome would have been different. I do not know if Underwood and the coaching staff are just plain stupid or were too stubborn to make adjustments.
  9. Is he a 1st round material? I'm not 100% sure he is talent/skills-wise right now, but you also can't teach height and size so... :dontknow: Only 1st round pick contract is guaranteed IIRC. He needs to stay another year and work on expanding on his skill set IMO. Absolute zero chance he's 1st Round Yeah, not a chance in hell, now, if he comes back and gets more of a game. He's got a decent stroke, you can see it at times on his FT's. There's no reason he can't develop a three point shot along with a mid-range jumper, turn around jumper, he does those things I'd say he's a first rounder for certain.
  10. I'm cautiously optimistic about next season for the Illini, in some ways Kofi and Ayo moving on might be a good result. Curbelo will take over at PG he's already close to a, if not better, play maker Ayo was, he can go left and right meaning a team can't shut him down by taking away his preferred direction like Loyola did to Ayo. Miller' going to get better and be more aggressive, wouldn't surprise me a bit if he turns out to be a better shooter than Frazier. They've got a shooter and a slasher coming in the recruiting class, plus I think they're going to get a couple of more commitments in a shooter from WI and a transfer from Texas Tech - Burnett. Of course, I been hopeful before and it turned to horsefeathers, see Bruce Weber and John Groce.
  11. I wouldn't say Loyola "gambled" on Kofi not passing effectively out of the post. If you've watched the Illini the past couple of years, he's shown that he doesn't pass out of the post much at all, he's got one thing in mind and that's to score. Porter also consistently put Kofi in a pick and roll situation, which again, if you've watched the Illini the past few seasons it's a great strategy. I'm mostly upset that Underwood did not adjust AT ALL. He had too much Matt Nagy in him on Sunday. Definitely, as I said, Loyola didn't have an answer for Curbelo, I'm also thinking they could've pressed them to pick up some easy buckets or speed up the game. It's going to be really aggravating when Oregon State does a few of things Underwood should have done and has some success.
  12. Counting on the pass rush to do the coverages work for them? a steady pass rush is the coverage's best friend Getting to the QB fixes everything on D.
  13. Big Ten still crapped the bed, just a terrible overall performance considering the supposed "strength" of the conference and highly seeded teams. I didn't think it was a stretch to expect a least two Big Ten teams in the Sweet 16. Man, I'm stilled pissed about the Illini' lose to Loyola, I'm convinced Curbelo was the answer, had they turned over the offense to him and gotten in that Krutwig' face they may have won. If I could see that, why the horsefeathers couldn't Underwood see it?
  14. Saw some press saying Loyola is a championship contender, I believe they're getting a little ahead of themselves, while good, I do not believe they are a championship contender. Their gimmicky stuff worked for one game against a team that had about a day or so to prepare, with more time, I'm guessing there's a real good chance Oregon State' going to be able to exploit some of their weaknesses. Loyola gambled on Kofi not be able to effectively pass out of the post - they were willing to give up open looks for 3 - and it worked. Curbelo had a few TO's but, he was able to exploit Loyola' on D, had they gone to him instead of letting Ayo run the offense I'm thinking there's a good chance the Illini pull it out - that's on Underwood. In fact, if they could play again I'm thinking Underwood does put the ball in Curbelo' hands and the Illini win by 8-10 or so.
  15. I doubt it. Loyola is good and play a style that can be a difficult matchup when you aren't used to it. I think they beat OSU and could make a deep run. This isn't making it a michigan thing or anything, but I would rather have faced any team from their region (including Michigan or alabama) instead of Loyola--and I would have said that before today's game. That definitely showed, I wonder if Ayo wasn't completely healthy as well. He took another shot to the head late in the BTT Championship, coming off a concussion that was probably not helpful.
  16. Didn't like that match up either, guess we're looking at Iowa as the Big Ten' best hope? Yuck.
  17. This was the game, if they'd pulled it out Final Four at least, unfortunate thing is after such a great game. Loyola will be obliterated by Oklahoma State watch.
  18. I find it pretty amazing they've only 4 fouls with how aggressive they're being on D.
  19. Sadly, nothing is ever guaranteed with this Badger bunch. I really wish I could have seen them in last year’s tourney. Think the Badgers will be it home, Boilers appear to be crapping the bed though, WTF Big Ten best basketball conference in the NCAA?
  20. Might be getting one here, appears, Washington Jr. is human after all, OSU is going to need him heat up and soon. Looks like OSU going to win but not cover so I'm happy with that. Might have to wait until tonight for an outright winner. Morehead st perhaps Maybe not, looks like they blew their collective wads last weekend vs. Michigan and the Illini, should they survive, maybe, they'll get it going.
  21. Some interesting games, but chalk so far. Give me some upsets. Might be getting one here, appears, Washington Jr. is human after all, OSU is going to need him heat up and soon.
  22. OSU less than inspiring, trailing Oral Roberts at the half, think they'll get it together in the second and win going away.
  23. Very cool, all grain? Brewer my self, all grain, I do smaller batches - 2 gallons - think I'm going to try a recipe I created for a 1 gallon batch of a Scotch Ale. The whole take some of the wort boil it down to a syrup add back, etc. Nah, I just stick with extract, though I've considered switching. Gonna wait until my kids are a little older. I am looking into building a fermentation chamber though, specifically because of this beer. Recommend fermentation temp for this yeast was 80, and since I couldn't hit it I lost out on some good fruity esters. All grain does open up more possibilities however, it also introduces more variables and hence, more opportunities for things to go wrong. Good luck with the fermentation chamber, the ability to control that environment would be awesome. By the way, what a sweet pass by Curbelo!
  24. Guessing an IPA? Two Hearted? That's a good guess, do love myself a two hearted. However, for a day of extended day drinking, I gravitate toward session ipas. And today it's a home brew I made.
