  1. I don't care how many interceptions Fields throws, you've got to keep trying, it's impossible for him to improve as passer by continually handing the ball off. The part I don't like about this staff is they appear unwilling to keep trying, they're not remotely interested in trying to develop Fields. Would they be more willing if Fields was their guy?
  2. Even the most rational diehard Fields' supporters, after this game, have to start thinking he's doesn't have the goods to succeed in the NFL. If that's the case, I'd stay away drafting the QB's of programs who surround them with 5 star recruits. For me, that means a hard pass on Young and Stroud.
  3. I'm calling a give up run here...
  4. Does absolutely nothing to make you better, if there was every a meaningless TD when the game was in question that may qualify.
  5. There's no reason not to try, this game is literally meaningless, you're giving up on developing Fields by not trying.
  6. These horsefeathering gutless wimps aren't giving the impression they're trying, completely pathetic.
  7. Why is it every other team in the NFL, regardless of who their receivers are, can get off a super quick pass, except for the Bears?
  8. Here comes another draw or some sort of mis-direction run.
  9. That's just it, they're not giving him a chance to develop, time and time again, they give up in passing situations. If they're goal was to not even give him a chance because you're convinced he's not the guy mission accomplished.
  10. That was a flat out we give up because our QB can't throw the ball play.
  11. I'm trying to be hopeful maybe, its got to get real bad before it improves? That's all I got.
  12. Are we 100% certain Kmet would have caught the ball had it been on the money?
  13. Yep, going to be meathead run after run because, Getsy doesn't "trust" Fields to execute or some such BS nonsense.
  14. Brown appeared open.
  15. And held the ball too horsefeathering long on what turned out to be a 29 yard scramble. Brown appeared open...
  16. Something, anything positive besides the OL are really good at run blocking.
  17. That's too bad about Griffin, who knows, maybe, Kmet will actually catch the ball this Sunday. Watching the film of his dropped pass the other night, gets worse every time I see it, OL executed well, Fields made the correct read and a very good throw. Only to have it...dropped.
  18. Don't know about that, granted going up against Smith was a tough assignment but, he couldn't even manage to occupy a CB on the screen attempt to Mooney.
  19. It's an example of a pitiful, pathetically bad GM, was Pace the worst GM in Bears' history?
  20. Yea. I'm not sure some of his defense of Fields i.e. the missed ESB route is totally legit or not, but the system simplicity stuff, and defining his reads more seems legit. I'm sure that comes with the downside of simplifying the defenses options too, but then that's where you just allow Fields to bail and create outside the pocket and the normal professions. And I loved when he laughed at the question about not having a good bail out target. Like yea, duh, that makes a difference. Way too much is being made of Fields not having anyone to throw to, that's not it, unless, you're a complete invalid, you can get open in today' NFL. It's all on Fields, let's see what happens next time Brown puts his arm up and breaks off a route to go long. Would not be surprising if Fields lets it rip and they hit on it for a big gain.
  21. Listening to the first few minutes was like looking up an illness on the web.
  22. This, to me, is the fundamental problem. I fully expected us to get stomped playing @ Packers in prime time, like we always do. But the fact that we spent almost the entire game down double digits and the coaching staff apparently still didn't trust Fields enough to call plays that theoretically would've involved a forward pass is, at least to me, rather concerning. Really doesn't make sense to take that approach, you're probably going to lose so, by running the ball, eating some of the clock, you lose by two scores instead of three? Big horsefeathering deal. You also don't help your shaky young QB gain any confidence with that BS.
  23. I couldn't believe how many Bears fans online were talking themselves into winning against GB. Even ones I wouldn't consider homers were jacked up about the game and seemingly thought we would at least make it a very competitive game. But like you said, I think a lot of the 'gutted' feeling has as much to do with Fields' performance as the outcome of the game. I believe most rational Bears fan knew it was going to be a loss, I'm just really disappointed about how terrible Fields looked again. Eberflus and Getsy have got to let Fields open it up, run plays that are to his strengths i.e., put him a situation to succeed. I'm not saying Fields has to light up this Sunday but, I don't believe it to be unreasonable to expect a marked improvement over the first two games. He's got to show something positive and hopeful, if he fails to do so, the volume is really going to turned up on Fields being yet another bust for the Bears at QB. If Fields does flame out along with Roquan Smith being ineffective and, quite probably gone, I think that'll mean none of Pace' first round picks materialized as good players for the Bears. Coupled this with his atrocious management of Bears finance, roster and draft picks and I believe it'll make Ryan Pace the worst GM in Bears franchise history.
  24. Yea, you said it much better than I've tried to. We as fans are looking for hope. The coaching staff is trying to win games. The coaching staff believes the best way to reach its goal is to essentially make Fields make as few decisions as possible and throw as few passes as possible. We as fans (or at least, most of us) understand that success in the NFL all but requires top-tier quarterback play. We understand we're not getting that now and that it's highly unlikely we'll get that at any point this season. But it'd be nice to know if there is any chance we *ever* get that with Fields. I'd rather know the answer definitively--even if that answer is no--than scratch out 7 or 8 wins with gimmicky sets, an old-timey run-based approach, and 10 passing attempts a game. None of those things (individually or collectively) prove or disprove whether Justin Fields can actually be a starting NFL quarterback and would/will simply leave us back where we started--"too soon to tell," "needs more time," "can't evaluate him with this supporting cast," "needs an opportunity to show what we can do in a 'real' offense," etc. etc. etc. This doesn't make sense though. Eberflus was hired presumably knowing what Poles plan was the first couple of seasons. It doesn't take a genius to know that step one of building an NFL team is to get the QB right. So while he absolutely should be trying to win, I don't think he should be doing it at the expense of what should be the organization's priority number 1 - develop Fields. Even if you don't believe in him - this is basically a free year to evaluate. Maybe you'll surprise you and you'll get praised for fixing Fields and you can use your 1st round pick on a WR or something instead of a QB. But if Fields fails no one is going to hold it against them (unless they cut him loose and he becomes an elite QB elsewhere) It's analogous to the MLB' minor leagues or the NBA' G league, every play, every facet should be about development, Poles and company can't that dense, can they? Even if the goal, for whatever reason, is to win 7 instead of 5 games they'll have a hell of better chance by actively trying to score points on every possession, especially with a defense that's not really going to stop anyone. Mr. defensive minded head coach has got to know that about his defense by now.
  25. Beyond a doubt, nearly any other QB would have pulled the trigger, overthinking, lack of confidence, playing scared, fearing a TO, is not going to work. He should know that if he doesn't, he 's as good as gone. I'm talking myself more and more into the belief that they just need to let him play freely and sink or swim. I think back to the Browns preseason game (yes I know it was a meaningless preseason game with starters sitting) but you could just see Fields start to get comfortable after a few throws and then suddenly he was electric and confidently throwing bombs all over the field. I think back to the Steelers game last year. In the first half he struggled with a gameplan that didn't involve many passes, in the 2nd half he hit a couple of perfect throws and then became unstoppable. I think if you give someone only a handful of attempts to make something happen, they're going to play more tentatively and scared because the margin for error is razor thin (like WrigleyField22 said). It certainly seems like the case with Fields. And there isn't a logical reason in the world to play in that manner, they're literally playing with house money. There's nothing to lose, you got to find out what have in Fields, let it horsefeathering go Erberflus, Getsy et. al, WTF cares if you lose every game?
