  1. is thabo hurt? despite some ole defense, we've gotten some stops and are actually winning.
  2. i've been watching for 10 minutes, and the Bulls have gotten maybe 1 stop.
  3. KU won. I don't think the foul trouble was a game-changing factor, though tadowdaddy might disagree. For me, the biggest factors were Bill Walker's inability to compose himself/play well under adversity and KU's 3pt shooting. Beasley looked slightly rattled (for Beasley), but overall he was as cool as a cucumber. Hard to believe he's 19 or whatever. KSU's looking at 2 must wins at the end of the season and probably at least 1-1 in the Big XII tourney to be guaranteed an NCAA berth. As far as KU goes, I dunno. The team frustrates me. I've seen teams that lose focus from game to game. This team has dramatic intensity spikes within games, though. It's baffling. Hopefully tonight signaled the return of Sherron Collins and an overall fiercer attitude. And say what you want about Sasha Kaun, the guy always gives it his all. I wish he were a bit more fluid.
  4. happier illiniguy? we can't breathe on Beasley.
  5. Did the officiating take your two best players out of the game? We're a different team. We don't have 2 guys head and shoulder above the rest. But I believe DA sat quite a bit of that game. I don't know why you act like only a few teams have big homecourt advantages, though. UI gets a ton of calls at Assembly Hall. Ok. My KU friend has even been texting me about how bad this is because he wanted to play them at full strength. I would, too. I don't want them to have any excuses. I think it's more because he would like to see you guys finally beat a good team this year. I argue that USC is a good team. As would I. Arizona isn't bad either. But win or lose, I don't know if KSU at home is a huge feather in our cap anymore.

  8. the officiating wasn't great for us in manhattan. And one of those Beasley fouls was a foul, just a cheapie.
  9. two early (and fairly cheap) fouls on Beasley.
  10. Sounds like Kirk has really played his way out of the lineup. Bummer, since I like him, but hopefully the team will be better. I'm still not sold on Gordon as a ball-handler or a defender, but maybe his offense offsets that. Seems like Kirk's D has declined this year, too.
  11. I love press conference implosions.
  12. Not yet. The bears haven't done anything yet. why do the bears continue to condone mass shootings? Condone? More like promote. It's a shame they released Tank Johnson. He would've been the perfect spokesman for this.
  13. lol, is this even considered basketball? It's basketball, just different than the pro game. After Alston crossed over and became afairly successful NBA player, they kind of earned more cred, imo. I think it has become what the globetrotters were, a nice alternative to structured basketball. I'm more of a Slamball guy. Probably just me.
  14. You brought up long runs and whether he broke a tackle or two in those runs. Highlight vids are pretty much nothing but long runs. They might be all long runs, but they're not every long run he had. All I'm saying is the evidence you presented did nothing to argue your case. And looking at highlights--which by definition are extraordinary plays--isn't the best way to evaluate a guy's skills, either. I barely saw the guy play, so I'm not going to pretend to know whether he can take a hit or not. But the scouting report evidence is pretty hefty in favor of him being a strong runner, even in the face of contact.
  15. I agree, yards after contact would be a great stat to have. But, check out his highlight vids. When he breaks a long run he's usually just flying right past people without so much as a tap from the defenders. Highlight vids aren't the best way to evaluate someone's skill-set.
  16. Not sure if this typical or not of running backs. I bolded all his runs under 3 and over 10. MIZZOU: 7, 1, 7, 1, 6, -3, 4, 1, 1, 19, 0, 3, 9, 0, 7, 3, 9, 18, 9, 0, 3 LSU: 2, 4, 5, 3, 7, 1, 12, 6, 4, 14, 2, 5, 7, 5, 2, 7, -3, 73, 3, -1, 2, -1, 1, 7, 6, 5, 5, 0, 4, 3, 9, 10 MSU: 3, -1, 4, 1, 2, 2, 0, 2, -1, 15, 1, 2, 3, 9, 5, 1, -1, 2, -2, 3, 3 TENN: 11, 1, -1, 4, 4, 6, 5, 2, 0, 8, 3, 3, 4, 7, 5, 4, 19, 2, 8, 20, 1, 0 SC: 1, 3, 14, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 13, 3, 2, -3, 9, 7, 2, 26, -2, 19, 2, 6, 13, 16, 1, 35, 4, 5, 3, 80, 12, 5, 7, 4, 3, 18 UM: -5, 5, 30, 8, 0, -1, 0, 3, 4, 2, 8, 5, 16, 1, 5, 11, 4, 6, 3, 3, 1, 4, AUB: -2, 9, 6, 4, 4, 0, 5, 4, 1, 4, 2, 2, 2, 0, 13, -2, 3 UK: 1, 8, 2, 4, 3, -2, 5, 6, 11, 1, 2, 1, 3, 0, 1, 19, 56, 2, 5, 4, 5, 9, 11, 3, 2, 1, 6, 2, 2 BAMA: 6, 2, 3, 1, 2, 6, 4, 2, 14, 3, 8, 1, 5, 3, 6, 24, 3, 6, 5, 1, 6, 1, 13, 7, 3, 1, 11, 1, 6, 8, 12, 5, 20, 1 The real problem with this list is that it doesn't tell us when/if contact was made. We have no idea if he was untouched on those long runs or if he broke a tackle or two and got out into the open field. So these numbers are essentially useless.
  17. We know Theriot won't be on base blocking his way.
  18. I was also at this game. I had decent seats, too, which is unusual for me. Burnitz really was awful that game - not just the crucial error, but he also came up to the plate in key positions and repeatedly looked awful. I'd blocked out the Jeromy Burnitz era until now. Thanks.
  19. Mendenhall's arms are borderline absurd.
  20. One of my favorite Stan Love stories: It should be noted that the Loves weren't the only parents unhappy with the coach, though I don't think that mitigates their craziness much. http://www.portlandtribune.com/sports/story.php?story_id=24994
  21. He's supposedly a nut in his own right. He pulled a lot of VERY questionable stuff with Kevin's high school coach, including accusing him of being a racist and placing signage around the high school urging the coach's termination after he sat Kevin for missing a practice.
  22. I think Leodis McKelvin could end up being the first corner taken. I think it would be a stretch over DRC. I could see someone maybe taking him over Talib due to his return abilities, but there are serious questions about his ability to tackle and be physical. I've seen several sites that have both McKelvin and Talib rated above DRC. All three will be good corners in my opinion. I'm not a scout, nor have I seen McKelvin play, but based on what I've read, I don't think DRC will be selected ahead of either McKelvin or Talib. Personally, I hope the Cowboys draft one of those three with one of their first round picks. I'm totally going off of stuff I've read, too, so I could certainly be wrong. But DRC's combine performance was pretty insane. I'm just rooting for Talib to guy as high as possible.

  24. Talib with a pretty good showing. Sub-4.5 speed. 4th best broad jump in the entire combine, 4th best vertical in the entire combine, 3rd best 3-cone among CB. Should be the second corner taken after Rodgers-Cromartie.
  25. You could easily beat us. We're playing terribly.
