  1. Great so if he ends up at Ohio State Matta will have better guys walking on than most of the Big Ten has recruited. haha. Is there any chance he plays both sports?
  2. I was hoping Releford or Marcus Morris would sneak on that list. By all accounts, Morris in particular is blowing up this year. Some people still question how good Releford is, so maybe his absence isn't a surprise? illiniguy, you've seen him play, right? Thoughts?
  3. yeah, where's the beef? up and to the left.
  4. haha. perfect timing. in a field dominated by dickie vs and digger phelpses, she really stands out. I actually used to think she was really overrated, but she's grown on me. I generally go for a totally different type.
  5. he's a 4* hoops recruit, #10 player at his position according to scout
  6. anyone here have Bulls season tickets?
  7. The progression: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/mwmem4_t600.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/mwmem8_t600.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/mwmem12.jpg
  8. haha, here's a pic of a memphis player slapping orange shirt dude on the right. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/mwmem8_t600.jpg
  9. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v604/snoodmonger1/mwmem12.jpg It's better when the picture is bigger. The expressions on the UAB people's faces are great.
  10. Well, this week's games (Duke losing, Memphis struggling with UAB) are really solidifying the thought that there are no "special" teams this year. You'd think that would make me feel better about my team's chances, but I'm beginning to think KU will bow out in the sweet 16. They've just been unimpressive for too long now.
  11. He was a bad man. Supposedly he lost to Ronnie Fields though in a high school dunk contest. Look at this one. i'm even more ashamed of my whiteness now. that boy has hops he's canadian so it doesn't count. gerald green does all those dunks, gets higher, and he got obliterated last night. But he isn't white. That makes a big difference, just ask Brent Barry. Also, Green won a three point shoot out in high school, why the heck hasn't his game developed anymore than it has? You've got me. You know how these kids can be, he probably just fell in love with his athleticism. Really, someone his size, with his athletic ability, should not be a 10th man on the Timberwolves. I remember when he signed with OSU and I was terrified of having to go against him twice a year. Now it seems like he gets worse every year. At the very least were I running the TWolves he would be playing in the DLeague. The kid needs to develop his game, you can't really do that by traveling and not practicing in the NBA. I think he's a classic case of a kid who would have benefited from even one year of college.
  12. the problem with early commits like that is there is plenty of time for things to change. A kid blows up nationally, all the sudden Duke, UNC, or UCLA have some playing time, he starts wondering if there's a bigger stage to play on.... And I'm not saying this to be a dick, nor am I using this a criticism specific to Weber, but early commits essentially have to be re-recruited until that LOI is sent. Don't think for one second Coach K, Williams, Gillespie, Calhoun, Self, Howland, whoever will back off just because a kid orally committed when he was 14.
  13. I missed that. I'm happy for OU. They would have been an above average team if Griffin and Longar had been healthy all year. I'm hoping OU can still slip in to the tourney. What's the status on Longar?
  14. I think the last IU coaching search is evidence enough that Indiana isn't going to get some top of the line coach in to replace Sampson. I expect it to be Dakich, and I'm fine with that. Who else did they pursue? I can't remember. I seem to remember them just picking Sampson out of the blue. What I don't understand is why they can't get a top line coach. I mean, I suppose possible sanctions could be a deterrent, but it's one of the premier programs in the country, and you don't even have big shoes to fill anymore. After Davis and K-Sanc, as long as you don't burn down Assembly Hall, people will be happy.
  15. is the scout network down for anybody else, or is it just me?
  16. I wonder if that has anything to do with our best player being suspended for the year and losing out on a top rated recruit at the last second? Huh? I'm sure that does. And that all happened under Bruce's watch. Yep, that makes sense. Bruce should have not let those kids out of the dorms at all. God if only he were more like Self and never had offcourt player issues. God if only we didn't have a moon bar in Champaign. . . oh wait. That stuff happens anywhere. We have rebounded with our recruiting. Weber has not driven us into the ground. We had a bad year. It happens. Who said it's fair? It's not fair to be labeled a bad coach when you win 71% of your games but lose in a crapshoot tourney, but you're ok with that. Self did the right thing and got rid of the trouble makers, permanently. Giles, Giddens. Gone. Jamar might be a different story. I don't know enough about him, to be honest. But my first instinct is that he should've been gonzo cnsidering how effed up that mistake was. Those recruits have to actually make to campus, first. Well it doesn't look like we have to worry about Sampson stealing them anymore. Giles and Giddens both were repeat offenders were they not? Giddens stole from wal-mart while in high school. Can't remember if there was more. Giles was as dumb as a stone, and he was definitely a repeat offender. I think he got 3 strikes. Deserved only 2, imo. It's the nature of Jamar's mistake that makes me think he should be a "one strike, you're out" guy.

  19. No, it's perfectly acceptable to have down years conference wise. My point was, BW has taken a former NC contender and turned them into a team struggling to compete in the Big 10, even though it's a down year for that conference.
  20. Recent? I thought we have sucked recently. You are grasping at straws. You have one great program and some decent ones. I like us to get more teams in the dance again than you guys again this year in our down year. When did I say that? The #1, 5, 13, 18, and 28 teams from Kenpom are big XII teams, btw. #3, 9, 17, 29 in sagarin
  21. the big 10 is terrible this year. The Big XII's inability to win a title doesn't change that. Nor does the recent strength of the Big 10.
  22. Self needs a FF to shut people up. It's that simple. (But then it will be NC choker talk.) It may not be fair, but that's the way it is, and he isn't the first coach to go through it. Dean, Lute, Donavan, and Roy were all labeled as chokers. It's just the way it works. Those guys, however, had the ability to coach their way out of a wet paper bag. Self, not so much. One of the worst in game coaches I've ever seen. And I'm an Illini fan who thought that when he was here. I harbor no ill will toward Kansas for taking him because, while in the short run Illinois may struggle, the players that do come here will get the most out of their talent as opposed to floundering in the hi-low under Self. And Illinois will be good again and in the tourney next year anyway. if he's bad, how come his teams are near the top in defensive and offensive efficiency? People who badmouth his coaching never have any concrete criticism other than his team lost XXX game. It's silly. I mean, you're sitting there talking about the hi-lo, and we don't even run the hi-lo as a primary offense. But Illini fans talk like that's all he does. Self is not a top-5 coach. I'll admit that. But he is one of the premier coaches in college hoops. You don't win as much as he does if you're not. And don't throw the talent thing out there, because he coached ORU out of the depths, and he won with mid-major talent at Tulsa, too. I've only seen one poorly coached team by Self, and that was the Bucknell/KU team. The big reason Self looks good is because his teams are more talented than about 90 percent of the teams they play. That's why his numbers will always be really pretty. However, when he plays one of those other teams, usually around the elite eight, he is going to be exposed. He is terrible at in game adjustments. I am still waiting for us to adjust and take away the three against Notre Dame. eh, I won't bother arguing it anymore. Your coach has been starting chet frazier over mccamey all year. I think know who's better. Awesome response. At what point have I done anything but blast Weber this year? Especially when it comes to that decision. Although your coach starts Russell Robinson over a much more talented Sherron Collins. Oh and Weber has coached a team to the grandest stage of college basketball and built a program. Which one of those has the great Bill Self done again? Please say Tulsa. Big deal. Lots of mediocre coaches have "coached on the grandest stage." Probably just as many as have turned a NC contender into a bottom dweller in a terrible conference. And who have overseen a program where one player left another for dead. No, Self has never "built a program." He's never had to. Doesn't mean he couldn't. At least Self has a rationale for starting Robinson. (Team leader, better defender). ANd at least he tries to conform his offense to his players, unlike Bruce "I'm gonna run this guard oriented motion offense despite my guards' mediocrity" Weber. This argument is pointless, though. You're happy with Bruce and all his flaws. I'm happy with Self and his.

  24. Yeah, that stuff is really embarrassing. Dickie V can't get enough, though.
