  1. another good win for UT. KSU has been tough at home.
  2. I think Texas has to win out all the way to the finals of the Big 12 tourney to lock a #1 seed. While that is very possible I think it is more likely they will finish with a #2 seed. Plus I don't want to play UCLA again ;-). I agree. Really, the KSU game and the conf tourney semis are the only possible tripping points, though. UT's resume is pretty good.
  3. More than Theriot hitting 2nd? Or are you saying it irritates you because Theriot should be hitting 8th? Yeah, there's a bit of cause and effect there with Theriot hitting 2nd, but even if Theriot was 7th it really irritates me. Pie hitting 8th is the one spot where it sets him up to fail, since it's the one spot in the lineup where he's likely to get pitched to much differently with the pitcher on deck. I really hope ST works out that he hits his way out of the bottom of the order, or Theriot "hits" his way down to the 8 spot. Man, I could not agree more. I just had the same conversation with my brother.
  4. combine numbers for all players. http://www.fflivewire.com/players/PlayersCombine.asp They have Dawson listed at QB, and it doesn't look like he's tested yet.
  5. I just wanted to point out that on 2/11, Cro Magnon identified Hinrich as a leadfoot who would be a turnover machine in a fast-paced offense. In the five games since that day, Hinrich has compiled 38 assists vs. 9 TO, with 15 and 10 assists in each of the last two games (when, presumably, they've been more athletic.) If you're curious, he registered 2 TOs in each of those games. Yes, sample size. I know. But it's an interesting trend to watch. Just as it will be interesting to see how his performance changes as he plays more PG (and defends more PG) as opposed to being forced to play and defend the 2.
  6. I don't think so and I really like Tennessee. With them and Butler I at least have two teams to pull for in the tournament. Memphis is a good matchup for them. Their defense is just so reliant on forcing turnovers (although not tonight). It depends on the bracket but if they play a good team that takes care of the ball and has an interior threat, I think they're in trouble. I wouldn't like their chances against UCLA or Kansas. UCLA worries me a little bit - I watched a little today and it seemed like a team with a really good big man would be able to stop Kevin Love. But you make a good point. Part of me thinks that ND would be a really good dark horse pick for somebody (inside and outside scoring, can shoot the 3 but don't necessarily rely on it, tremendous point guard play, free-flowing offense with few turnovers), but even if I wanted to I could never pick ND to go to the Final Four. I'd feel like I was jinxing them. If you're basing your Love opinion on just yesterday's game, just know that Kevin had the flu yesterday. Hopefully he isn't sick when UCLA plays teams in the tourney. (That's not to say he doesn't have his weaknesses - just look at the USC games - but he has done really well against some of the best big men in the conference.) Do you think he has attitude issues or is that just the haters making stuff up and me buying into it without really seeing a legit sample size of his play?
  7. Oline problems shouldn't even be a factor IMO. If you have a chance to draft a stud like Mendallhall, you have to do it. The Bears have a lot of issues, but Rome wasn't build in a day, and they can't fix it all this offseason. Draft the best avialable players. That is how I would roll at least. I would normally agree but with the Oline playing such a major part in how a RB or QB play, you have to address the Oline problem. But this is such a deep draft for OLine, specifically tackle, isn't it? You might be able to get late first round quality in the 3rd round. I think you take a Mendenhall, too.
  8. I read on a KU message board McFadden's 4.27 was scratched. Not sure if that's true or not.
  9. In the Bears thread, someone is reporting Mendenhall at 4.37. Slow-poke.
  10. Beast. Where are you geting combine info? Somebody who's watching it told me. You can go here to get official stats, but only for the top scorers. Some of the players are mysteriously miscategorized, though. (ex: KU OL Anthony Collins is a DE there for some reason.) http://www.nfl.com/combine/top-performers Thanks for the link snood. Cool to see Will Franklin tied for the second fastest 40 time at WR. I've been surprised to see Rucker's name absent from any of the lists. (KU's Derek Fine is actually testing fairly well; it's a shame there are so many TEs in this draft.)

  12. McFadden unofficially ran a 4.27 forty at the combine.
  13. Is Aramis fake hustling while wearing a patch really even a tribute?

  15. terrible game. every aspect of it was terrible. terrible.
  16. we suck
  17. love seems like a selfish player. Just an impression from watching very little UCLA hoops.
  18. jeebus, now taylor for oregon
  19. holy crap westbrook for UCLA
  20. so an OSU player pushes a KU player after the play, and KU gets a tech called on them. Makes sense.
  21. Whoa; calling them a bunch of jerks is going way overboard. They reacted to a tough situation emotionally rather than logically. That makes them human, not jerks. They shouldn't have skipped practice; I'm not denying that. However, they did all reportedly show up for last night's walk-through. Had they followed through on their threats then maybe stronger criticism would be warranted. However, I don't think they can be faulted for showing support for their coach, even though the way they did so was misguided. I disagree. They could have showed their support any number of ways that would have expressed their frustration but not made them look like petulant children. How about a short statement to the media? A letter? An e-mail? If they can't be trusted to control their emotions (in part, a sign of maturity), then they could have spoken through their parents/guardians. The long and the short of it is: they acted stupidly and aligned themselves with a cheater. I stand by my comments. I'm not disputing that what they did was wrong. What I am disputing is that letting their emotions get the best of them doesn't make them jerks. We're all human, and we all do stupid things at times and react emotionally rather than rationally. That doesn't make us jerks. I agree we all let our emotions get the best of us. It happens, and it does not make us any worse than anyone else. However, what they did reveals a major flaw in their characters, IMO. They essentialy threatened to abandon their teammates and the school because they did not get their way. That indisputably arrogant behavior makes them jerks, IMO. C'mon. That wasn't a character flaw. It was a bunch of teenagers freaking out and making empty threats. College players put a lot of faith in their coaches, and it becomes like a parent/child relationship. It's totally justifiable for a kid to react that way when they see someone they admire getting attacked, and they think they can help. Had they actually boycotted the season, that would be one thing. But some threats made in the heat of emotion don't reflect at all on those kids' character.
  22. boy, pearl to IU would be the one hire that could really drive the UI folks nuts. What did Richmond do to get kicked off his team?
  23. No, sorry. All I have is what I've heard from coaches in the area. I know that holds very little water -- great, some random internet dude says he heard Drew was dirty. But high school coaches, en masse, think he's shady. I don't think that would bode well for in-state recruiting, much less IU's reputation post-Sampson. From what I've heard, I really, really don't want Drew. Oh, I believe you. I was able to point the person to the story about how Drew uses negative recruiting, which isn't technically illegal but drives other coaches crazy. that's the story i've seen. there are whispers of rule breaking, too, but i've never seen anything hard and fast.
  24. larry hughes looks exactly like someone, but I can't figure out who.
