  1. I always thought Charlie O. would have loved what Beane did with the A's earlier this decade. It was a lot smarter than his usual brand of [expletive]-the-establishment thinking, but it was [expletive]-the-establishment nonetheless.
  2. This is how it was done up through 1976. Imagine Mike Shannon and Suzyn Waldman on a national telecast. Oh, the horrors.
  3. Unbelievable. Dodgers had to have this one, Padilla is going to get his ass kicked on Saturday.
  4. Dodger management (and MLB) has to be embarrassed with the turnout for this one.
  5. Vasgersian and Costas, both at MLB, are IMO the two best broadcasters with no game work in October. A shame.
  6. Len Kasper, Duane Kiper and Jon Sciambi would all be excellent choices IMO. Marty Brennamen and Vin Sculley did fantastic work on national telecasts back in the day, though I'm unsure as to the willingness of either to do this kind of work today. I think TBS' biggest problem is likely that many of the best broadcasters are under contract to ESPN, FOX, or are on local NFL assignments at this time of year.
  7. Chip was much better as a studio host. He has no business in a broadcast booth. Stockton is the classic Musburger-type, a "legend" who parachutes into a sport with nothing but an ego and a briefing book. He comes across as clueless not because he is elderly but because he doesn't watch the games. TBS puts together a very competent broadcast, and they should - they've been a baseball broadcast outlet longer than anyone outside of WGN. I just don't understand why they can't corral better on-air talent.
  8. I want to leave the sound on for Brenley. I want to hit mute because of Stockton.
  9. The Blue Jays.
  10. Getting uncomfortably deep into these pens.
  11. 2007 was pretty awesome.
  12. And here I was afraid Stockton would take this one.
  13. Fantastic game. TBS has to be tickled - tied headed into primetime.
  14. Corey Brock was on XM/Home Plate this morning and he said no current Padres employees are under consideration for the GM post.
  15. This is awesome.
  16. I'm thrilled. No more worries about this fiasco taking over the city for years and forcing a death march of a road trip in the middle of the '16 season.
  17. Not sure why "November baseball" is such a vice. The weather is no worse than what is seen in early April.
  18. I really have no one to root for or against this time. Above all, I'd like to see the Series go seven games - delay the inevitable as long as possible.
  19. The Cubs/Reds matchups are all weekend series. Three in Cincinnati, two in Chicago. Sounds like the Reds made a plea for more "premium" dates or just got lucky.
  20. The long and awful winter will be here soon enough. I'm going to enjoy the games while I have them.
  21. I can see the Onion article now. LaRussa charged with drug trafficking Caught smuggling large amount of pixie dust across statelines LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL You really have a bad obsession with me. I can't post without you replying a pointless waste of time response. You don't like me. Get over it. Ignore my posts I don't care just stop making pointless posts that derail threads. Really, what an MFer.
