  1. Lackey is going to demolish that clubhouse.
  2. He slapped the plate as he headed for the bench.
  3. It's hideous.

  5. Viewership numbers for the LDS are in. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/million-watched-viewers-2605815-most-time http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/news/cable-tv/e3ica001feccbe3877bf9b13038b203219b http://www.bizofbaseball.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3630:mlb-lds-coverage-pushes-tbs-to-highest-viewed-week-in-their-history&catid=57:television&Itemid=122 The above figures don't include the numbers from Monday night (4.0 national metered-market rating, 26.0 rating in Philadelphia and an 18.3 rating in Denver.) They likely could have posted better numbers if even one of the series had gone to a Game 5. http://www.thenewstribune.com/sports/mariners/mlb/story/914347.html
  6. Charles Gipson, who had come in to pinch run for Posada. And was in our camp in spring training. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/CharlesGipson.jpg
  7. I can't remember if it was this game or the game the next day vs. the Reds (I was at both). But I remember the score being 0-0 or 1-0 and Sammy was up with the bases loaded and 2 outs, and he hit a towering fly ball and everyone in the park thought he hit a grand slam, but Kearns jumped up and caught the ball while banging into the ivy. It was like maybe 5 feet from being a granny. Blah. That Reds series at the end of '04 is a black mark on the decade. No reason in the world to lose the WC in that fashion.
  8. More on the BK filing.
  9. The LCS should be awesome. Wish we had another game tomorrow - long wait to Thursday. The LDS needs to be best-of-seven.
  10. What is with all the stupid baserunning ...
  11. That was the point - if no one was around, the act would have no ceremonial value. This is typically done after the last game at a park, the earliest example I'm aware of being the Crosley Field plate that was moved to Riverfront Stadium in 1970. It didn't really have any ceremonial value anyways. There was no announcement from what I can tell. Nobody was posing with the shovel, I didn't see any photogrphers around or anything. From what I saw, they just gathered around with a shovel and started digging. Did you miss the picture? In a normal situation (no playoffs) there would be an announcement and whatnot.
  12. A handful of events spread out over 1600 games doesn't really reflect "better time" to me. 2003, 2007, 2008 had a lot of good times, most of the rest of the decade was filled with crap and/or disappointment. Six years of contention in this decade: 2001 2003 2004 2007 2008 2009 Compared to just five others in the balance of my lifetime: 1977 1984 1989 1995 1998 In comparison, these have been golden years.

  14. I agree. I think terrific improvement would be seen if they would just keep the crap umps out of the sport.
