  1. For that alone Hendry, Baker, and Rothschild should be fired.
  2. I've never heard of it but I bet Murton and Cedeno aren't in it.[/i]
  3. Ralphie is one of my favorite Springlied residents
  4. I just voted no.
  5. Only to people who sorely devalue Pierre. One weak hitting CFer who won't take a walk making his entire worth dependent on his speed and batting average are never worth two left handed pitchers with decent upside plus a 4th starter. Never. We only gave up 1 LHP. Mitre and Nolasco are both RHP. How does "decent upside" equate to value? I don't know why don't you ask Dontrell Willis. Sorry one left handed pitcher and one right handed pitcher. Pinto did have trouble in AAA but he came back and pitched pretty well. Over the course of their careers I think Mitre, Nolasco, and Pinto will be of more value than Pierre will be.

  7. Bo Hart + Augie Ojeda = Neifi Perez
  8. Wow, I am the only holiday card person. I actually don't send out any cards, because I love trees. To me this is the holiday season, Festuvis, Christmass, New Year's Eve, and New Year's day. More than one therefore the term Holiday.
  9. Hey Carrie, Is there any chance the Cubs can sign Johnny Damon for Center Field? That way Juan Pierre can move to right. I can't think of a better 1-2 punch at the top of the order. -- Edward K., Indianapolis, Ind.
  10. No Phil, it probably is a VERY BAD option. Although NOBODY wants to see a mediocre outfielder rob this team of years and dollars, this team can't survive with this cancer on the team. It's obvious by now Corey is neither wanting or willing to invest the time and effort it will take for him to realize his potential. Seemingly (how I have no idea), there are still some teams out there dumb enough to think they can coax it out of him. Could they? I suppose its plausible. But I'd like the Bears chances of beating the Colts in Super Bowl 100 times over. And thats not likely to happen. Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of idiotic journalists proposing such silly and preposterous ideas like this. Just because turd A stinks a little less than turd B doesn't mean that's a good option. Why would/should the Cubs settle for that??? IMO this scenario is a last resort and should only be explored if we can't get anybody else. If this happens it means Hendry has failed...demonstrably, and it should go a long way has to initiating his disposal. You are fantastic
  11. Bah humbug! :D We can get along just fine without you working on Christmas
  12. I, too, could be wrong, but I don't believe that the Cubs can dictate to WL teams where they want their guys to play. They can ask, but that's all. I don't know either, but seening as to how it seems to function more like an instructional league with players coming and going all the time I would think that having Cedeno play 2nd wouldn't be much of a problem.
  13. At this point I think Hendry has to keep Walker. Neither Hairston nor Perez can put up the numbers he can and each is a marginal upgrade on defense. Now, if Hendry wants to go with Perez at SS, Cedeno is probably a marginal upgrade over Walker, but Cedeno hasn't played a lick of second base this winter. I could be wrong, but common sense would dictate that if Hendry were considering Cedeno for 2nd he would have instructed whomever is in charge to play him a 2nd. The problem is, common sense and the Cubs managment seem to have a distant relationship.
  14. I agree 100%. we are talking about a pitcher that has combined for 156 innings the past three years. and contrary to what has been said earlier, he's not in his early 20's, he turned 25 a few days ago (not that his age is the death of his potential). furthermore, if this trade is gutting the system for a player that isn't a difference maker (and for the record, I disagree that Huff wouldn't be a difference maker), what would happen to the system for a guy that is a difference maker? edit: this is posted before seeing what Tim wrote about misinterpreting. nonetheless, I think Guzman's greatest value to this team, considering the presence of Williams and Hill, is to ship him out. yes, players recover from injury, but rarely does a pitcher recover from labrum surgery and go onto have any sustained success. Guzaman has already come back for labrum surgery, if one wants to belive the reports of people who post here and has seen him pitch, Baseball America, Cub scouts, other team's scouts, and radar guns. In limited work last year after the mysterious forearm injury he came back to pitch very well, ALL THE VELOCITY WAS BACK, as were the crispness of his breaking pitches. However, he was uncharecteristicly wild. The wildness is somewhat understandable given the limited amount of innings he's pitched. Guzman is a definate injury risk, but he is also still the Cubs best pitching prsospect. It is foolish to trade him plus another player for soemone like Huff. Huff hasn't been a difference maker in his entire career and is coming off his worst season in the majors. I think he has potential but his value should be low as he is going to be expensive after next year.
  15. If we start patterson in RF and he flops, there will be no deadline deal. You don't broker big deals in a push for 4th place. But you do postpone Kerry Wood's surgery to get him some set up work. [-(
  16. I have wanted Huff since last year. I think this is a case of buying low. Huff is not as bad on defense as people here make him out to be. That said he is probably below average. However, I do not like this deal one bit. The Cubs are giving up way, way, too much. Guzman throws strikes, has velocity, and fantastic secondary pitches. We all know the injury trouble, but he is still in his low 20s. Guzman's trade value could not be lower. I really wish Hendry would offer up another pithcing prospect. This deal further reminds me how foolish it was to give up so much for Slappy Pierre.
  17. Do you say, "Q-tip" instead of cotton swab or "Kleenex" instead of tissue? Big difference. A q-tip is a q-tip. It doesn't matter what brand, same with a kleenex. A coke, pepsi, sprite, dr. pepper, mountain dew, etc are all very different. what? Q-tip is a brand name and so is Kleenex. You can get Scott's tissues and you can get CVS brand cotton swabs. There is no difference. What's the difference between Q-tips and generic cotton swabs? Between Kleenex and Puffs? Very little. Now what's the difference between Coke and Mountain Dew? There is no difference in Georgia. Everything is a coke. there is pepsi coke, moutain dew coke, well you get the point.

  19. What happened to St. Louis's pursuit of Jack?
  20. hahahaha! He is also brutally honest and a marxist. Two traits that make for a high level of volatility. i'm a powder-keg, man. I wouldn't have it any other way.

  22. You are my hero BK :trophy:
  23. But how many did the Cubs lose b/c of the matchup? The world may never know.
  24. That's a given with that fool. He did it with Burnitz so you know he will do it with Jones. And the catcher has to bat 8th because, well, he is the catcher.
