  1. They're getting to grand pa now. Big inning here.
  2. I hope Dusty says something to Barrett when he gets back to the dugout.
  3. I really doubt that order came from the dugout. Just Barrett overthinking. Don't think Michael, just hit.
  4. Are you part-cyborg? Simply amazing! Being a long-time numbers junkie, I appreciate your stats! :) Boggles the mind what you can do with a good database program, no ?? I was always more of a spreadsheet specialist. I did used to track Cubs stats on my own spreadsheets, back in the days when I did not have Internet and could not easily access what I wanted. Well, sonny.... I used to track CUBS stats with stone tablets & chisels back when I was kid !! Fred "Flintsone" Hornkoh. I appreciate your work Fred. You are the MVP of gamethreads.
  5. Cedeno will be ok, the Cub will just have to live through the growing pains.
  6. Mabry swining on a 3-0. BENCH HIM NOW. He's almost been in the league long enough to play with his son. He should know better. Wasted lead-off double.
  7. JJ is pulling everything when he makes contact.
  8. Lets go Big Z. It sure would be nice to win tonight.
  9. I bet Sergio, Ricky, and Rynel were real fired up to go to FLA. They knew they'd get a shot at the bigs a lot sooner than with the Cubs. Heck, Willis would probably be in AAA this year if he was still in the org.
  10. Yea, like he has done for the past two off-seasons. Instead of correcting problems he's either magnified them or utterly rejected that they exist. Jim, Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life.
  11. Just going by Hendry's reported comments on WGN radio, I think Baker will be around at least until the ASB. I believe Hendry said something about giving him a chance to work his way out of it, or something like that. Anyway, using the old faithful injury excuse, the Cubs haven't been able to put their best team on the field. So when Lee, Wood, Prior, and Miller get back I think Hendry will give Baker some time to turn things around. As far as I'm concerned this is a win/win situation for the fans. If they don't play better Bakers will likely be fired. If they do play better maybe they can get back into the playoff picture. However, my worst fear is if they play better and get three or four games above .500 by the end of the season. Then all the sportswriters will be lauding Baker and he will likely be back, if he wants.
  12. The pen is spent. Do we really want to ask guys to go out and throw every other day? I don't think the pen is spent. Every game thread TT posts the innings of each guy and there is plenty of work to go around. This whole season is a compete debacle of a disaster. It is a FUBAR of a SNAFU. Everything that could possibly go wrong has.
  13. A player? Not at all. Every player? Yes. Can you cite any examples. I'd really like to know if there is hope.
  14. Cedeno is kind of a pre-steriod, pre-Arod/Tejada/Nomar/Jeter throw back. I think he will be a good-not-great SS for a long time. Both He and Murton have more than held their own so far in their first full season. It's about the walks right now for Cedeno. His BABIP is pretty high, but not completely unsustainable. He put up a .050 IsoD for his minor league career, if he gets it up to .040 he should be around a .330 OBP and around a .740 OPS, which would be pretty fine for his rookie season. I would love if Ronny developed more selectivity at the plate. He is still young but I don't know if he will ever develop much patience. That brings up a question I've had for a long time. Is it out of the ordinary for a player to develop plate discipline in their first few years in the bigs?

  16. Not trying to pat myself on the back or saying I told you (rhetorical) so. But... I did.
  17. Judging by Jim Tracy's track record, I'd have to say his refusal to play Choi against lefties is no indictment of Choi's ability. IMO, he is one of those players who never really got a fair shake.
  18. (a) No they're not better - that's the point. (b) Explain the losses to the Pirates, Diamondbacks, and Giants in the same time-frame. If they Padres are hot it is because they've played six games against the Cubs. It is all relative.
  19. Vance, Can you send that to 1060 W. Addison St, Chicago IL, 60613 and address it to Mr. J. Hendry?
  20. I just can't believe that they would even consider extending Baker's contract. I cannot berlieve it. It is unbelievable. do they watch this team? I am refusing to believe this until it actually happens. I mean, let's just say the Cubs go on to lose 7 of their next 10 and then 6 of their next 10. That would make them 22 and 35 and take them to mid June, How could they extend him?
