  1. I never make predictions, but the Cubs are going to win this game. I'm dead sure of it. In the words of CinciGreg from the ESPN days, Book it!
  2. That would be a nightmare of epic proportions. Lou to a dump yesterday that could manage better than Joe.
  3. Ron and the fans at Wrigley don't want Marmol to pitch. Come on Marmol.
  4. Alright gentleman enough of that. C'mon Cotts pitch strikes.
  5. If Rich really has "gotten it together" and pitches well in AA and/or AAA what are the Cubs going to do with him? I know Lou wants another LHP in the rotation but Marquis deserves to be in the rotation with the last three starts. Marshall pitched fantastic in his last outing. This is really shaping up to be the Cubs year. Three competent pitchers for one spot and the addition of Harden. Wow!
  6. Frickin Theriot is frickin amazing. I am so impressed with his performance. I'm just in awe. The dude can hit.
  7. There's probably more people cheering for him in one sport than have every cheered for him before. The friendly confines can be very friendly when things are going well. He didn't disappoint.
  8. The next owner of the Cubs is going to have to make some tough choices. Hopefully he/they have some deep pockets. Dempster is going to deserve a fair market value contract. If Wood keeps this up he's going to be expensive too.
  9. This kind of sums up my opinion of Hamilton: http://www.desipio.com/?p=1490 I know, heaven forbid I quote Disipio on nsbb, isn't it like blaspemy or something? Good for him he came back. But a lot of the media is making him into some kind of hero or something. He screwed his life up big time and now is back to where he would have been 5 years ago if he hadn't been stupid. Don't see why he gets more credit and attention than some guy that does it the right way and becomes a star without having to do the drug addict thing first. That's a pretty asinine way of looking at the situation, but if it makes you feel better about yourself. Feel free. Who said anything about how it makes me feel about myself? We are talking about how I feel about Josh Hamilton not being able to stay off drugs. Maybe if Grady Sizemore had spent most of his minor league career shooting heroin the media would be lining up to have interviews with him instead of the "heroic" Josh Hamilton. And thanks anyway for giving me the right to have my own opinion. Very big of you. Your post was dripping with the self-satisfaction of someone who is a better person than Hamilton. Whatever. Maybe you are, but only a self-absorbed prick couldn't get out of their head out of their own ass long enough to see what a good story Hamilton is. He gives hope to people everywhere. Jeff Allison is using Hamilton's example to try to get his own life straightened out. I guess he shouldn't be commended for trying to get straight either. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080306&content_id=2408668&vkey=spt2008news&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb I personally like the "story" of the guy that works hard, stays clean and makes it that way better than the "story" of a guy that does drugs, hurts a lot of people in the process, then later gets clean and makes it. But I guess that is only because I have the "self-satisfaction of someone who is a better person than Hamilton" and am a "self-absorbed prick". Since obviously neither of those descriptions apply to you I find it surprising you have to resort to name calling to make your point. But now that I think about it, it does sort of seem to be a trend in your posts. One thing has nothing to do with the other Grady Sizemore doing well is not related to Hamilton whatsoever and vice versa. That's the thing. Both are great stories. Hamilton changing his life does nothing to diminish any other player. This is about Hamilton. Finally, if the shoe fits...

  12. [Disco Stew/Patton Oswald voice] Next up on the main stage... Ryleigh Cue music She's my cherry pie, Cool drink of water, such a sweet surprise. Tastes so good, make a grown man cry, Sweet cherry pie. Swingin' on the front porch, Swingin' on the lawn. Swingin' where we want, Cause there ain't nobody home. Swingin' to the left, And swingin' to the right. If I think about baseball, I'll swing all night, yeah. Swingin' in the living room, Swingin' in the kitchen. Most folks don't cause, They're too busy bitchin'. Swingin' in there cause, She wanted me to feed her. So I mixed up the batter, And she licked the beater. I scream, you scream, We all scream for her. Don't even try cause, You can't ignore her. She's my cherry pie, Cool drink of water, such a sweet surprise. Tastes so good, make a grown man cry, Sweet cherry pie, oh yeah. She's my cherry pie, Put a smile on your face ten miles wide. Looks so good, bring a tear to your eye, Sweet cherry pie.
  13. Isn't AAA filled with retreads and guys wanting to be a coach or manager some day? I mean isn't there more talent in AA (albeit younger)? AA definitely has more talent. But it's not like AAA is devoid of talent. Only the truly elite prospects skip AAA. Plus, you have to take into account the Southern League (AA league Samardzija played in) has some national forest like parks and the Pacific Coast League has bandboxes in high altitudes. Thanks. I'm happy The Shark is doing well and it is a start. Hopefully he can keep this up for a while. Next year he could be a valuable trading chip or a great addition to the bullpen.
  14. Hamilton is a great story. America is all about redemption. I'm loving it.
