  1. I can't really call any game a team wins by 11 as 'ugly' Then you didn't watch.
  2. They can't play at the top of their game every day, but these last 3 games have been ugly for the Cubs. It's the mark of a great team that they've won the previous 2. Hopefully Maxs gets tired or loses his concentration.
  3. Wow. I wanted the Cubs to go after Max when he hit FA, just for the record.
  4. Ali was a global icon who transcended his sport and was a hero to billions of people who never saw him fight for who he was and what he stood for. No one can touch that and it's not even up for debate. People might wear Jordan shirts or Nikes, but those are fashion statements based on marketing. I don't think many around the world knew who name and he didn't stand for anything but making money. His image is world famous, he is not at a level that approaches Ali.
  5. Who told Dusty to bat Murphy behind Harper? There is no way he came up with that himself.
  6. Michael Jordan Not even close. Pele is the only athlete I can think of who might have compared to Ali at the top of his fame.
  7. Interesting...I grew up nearby in Skokie. Is this the son? http://nypost.com/2014/01/26/muhammad-alis-son-shut-off-dad-living-in-poverty-in-chicago/ No, his son's name is Asaad. He got drafted but choose to go to Louisville and play baseball. He's probably graduated already. BTW, Niles Michigan, I should have mentioned that in the post. http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=ali---001asa
  8. If the group is big enough you may want to see about renting out the batter's eye clubhouse or whatever it is they are calling it.
  9. "Broken will to win"-Hawk H I'm happy because I liked Cogs. I think Maddon will find a way to make him useful.
  10. Highest runs in one game.
  11. The Cubs will score 18 runs in one game this year.
  12. KB! He's going to be the highest paid position player in 5 years.
  13. Yeah, outside of the first week of the season Montero has been hot garbage. But Ross is up.
  14. Yeah, outside of the first week of the season Montero has been hot garbage.
  15. It looks to me like Heyward rarely is in a good hitting posture at contact. It seems like he's out on his front foot and his hips are closed and not under him. He also has too much top hand pressure so he's not getting lift. I don't remember his swing looking this ugly before.
  16. Ali lived in Berrien Springs in one of Al Capone's old safe houses on the St. Joesph river. His son went to highschool in Niles (my hometown). They needed to get the baseball field upgraded after years of neglect and couldn't get a millage passed, so Ali paid to have the field upgraded.
  17. We'll need to replace Fowler after either this year (if he opts out, which I think is likely given his monster season) or after 2017, so I think trading Almora would be a mistake at this point. Pay no attention, Tom/Godzilla has a weird hard-on hate for Almora for reasons which are incomprehensible. It's like Keith Law and Sczur only more stupid.
  18. Yeah he's gonna be lauded for the most intangible, intangibles for his case to get in over any sort of hard facts/stats. That's exactly what is going to happen. Baseball writers will talk about his playoff and all-start appearances, shut down defense, and leadership, and gloss over his pedestrian-to-terrible offensive numbers.
  19. Molina is a douchebag, but I don't think there is much doubt that he will be in the HOF.
