Nice post. I am not able to read the whole article here but am just going off the excerpt. It seems like what the author is expecting as far as a direct action plan to address systemic racism in MLB isn't realistic/doesn't have much precedence in sports. Does the article have detail about what the MLB should be doing instead? On the surface, this feels a lot like the "disorganization" critiques of the Occupy movement. I'd love to be educated/proven wrong ...the article is free for everyone who signs up for basic membership at Baseball Prospectus. Another good excerpt from the article: [tweet]
[/tweet] I think expecting MLB to reform itself is a losing bet. IMO, there will have to be some type of an organized revolt among nonwhite players. But, given these guys are always worried about staying in the league, that's going to be a difficult proposition. The example is Kap in football (out of football), must be weighing heavily on them all.
I remember when he was having his control issues and the Cubs AA team was in West Tenn. my wife and went to see him pitch in Jackson. He was awful. He threw one so high the catcher didn’t even make an attempt. He could not throw a strike.
It's still a HIPAA violation if it's not released by the patient. HIPAA doesn't apply only to physicians. Standard 'sportswriter not lawyer' caveats apply, but this is what I read.
That's positively wrong.
My MLB the Show 2020 team (from MLBTS Franchise Mode) is much better than the current team anyway, so I’m just going to keep playing video game baseball and forget about this season.
Is anyone else as excited about the Cubs draft as I am? I know nothing but it looks like they killed it from a tools perspective. I absolutely hate those high floor low ceiling type players.
