  1. Len is a huge historian of baseball broadcasting and reverence for it. I can see him nerding out and wanting to do radio instead of TV, but judging from the radio he does preseason and occasionally filling in for Pat, he is so much better on TV than he is on radio. If this is what he wants to do I wish him well.
  2. Yes, there has to have been a poor fit for Len at Marquee. That is the only way this makes sense. Radio is a step-down. Going from the Cubs to the Sox is a bigger step-down. Whether it has to do with an increased role with Fox or the stupidity of the three-man booth and dressing up in big boy clothes on Marquee or a mix of all of that, we will never know.
  3. It sucks.
  4. Do we know if it’s true? If so who is going to play LF? Happ?
  5. "Here's the question though. Is competing for the NL Central and hoping for luck enough in the playoffs?" This strikes me as a return to the Jim Hendry days. The playoffs are less of a crapshoot if you set the bar higher. Be that as it may, I also think it is important for a team to recognize when their window of elite caliber play is closed and to move on. It sure would have been nice to have the waves of talent, but it obviously didn't play out that way. I hope they can get good players and not just dump salary when they start moving people.
  6. More money for payroll, right PTR?
  7. It’s going to hard to judge Ross if the Cubs go into tank mode.
  8. I agree.
  9. I cannot help but think the financial problems with the Cubs and in baseball in general made this decision a little easier for him. Best decision PTR made.
  10. On to NY
  11. Do you know who I am? I'm Tony horsefeathering LaRussa.
  12. COVID still undefeated in 2020.
  13. Rick is a finalist for the manager of the year.
  14. It really is a strange definition of loyalty. Closer to Stockholm Syndrome or Battered Wife Syndrome than affection.
  15. Who wants to take bets that they have a worse winning % next year?
  16. Whoa, for as much as Dusty deserves flak, this hiring is on a whole other level than any of the teams who hired Dusty, let alone the Cubs. Ok, worse than any offer to any manager since the College of Coaches.
  17. I feel bad for young White Sox players. It's like Rinesdorf decided he needed an overseer. This is probably one of the worst managerial decisions since the Cubs hired Dusty.
  18. Agree. How are they going to make a rule that works?
  19. I'm more than happy to lay the majority of the blame on the Ricketts.
  20. Theo's tenure, bust-boom-bust. He brought a WS, but a very mediocre overall result. The boom was great fun while it lasted.
  21. Good stuff. Yeah if the Cubs managed to have an above average staff with what they put out there, I’m not too concerned about next year either. Focus most of your attention on fixing the offense. How much of the pitching impact is due to Contreras’s framing? Is that a repeatable skill?
  22. He's like bizarro Dusty Baker; Renteria gets canned just as the team is starting to get good. Baker gets hired after the team has a good roster. The perfect post.
