Whoa, for as much as Dusty deserves flak, this hiring is on a whole other level than any of the teams who hired Dusty, let alone the Cubs. Ok, worse than any offer to any manager since the College of Coaches.
I feel bad for young White Sox players. It's like Rinesdorf decided he needed an overseer. This is probably one of the worst managerial decisions since the Cubs hired Dusty.
Good stuff. Yeah if the Cubs managed to have an above average staff with what they put out there, I’m not too concerned about next year either. Focus most of your attention on fixing the offense. How much of the pitching impact is due to Contreras’s framing? Is that a repeatable skill?
He's like bizarro Dusty Baker; Renteria gets canned just as the team is starting to get good. Baker gets hired after the team has a good roster. The perfect post.
Andy Vanslyke did that to me and my friends at Wrigley when were heckling him pretty hard in the bleachers when he played for the Pirates. After his second HR of the day we kind of shut up. I feel like we were personally responsible for the Cubs losing that day. I think he had like 5 RBI.
I hope Ross uses this season and the feedback he will surely get from Theo et al. to be better next year. He's left pitchers in too long and lost leads or had runs scored on the pitcher far too many times this year.
