  1. A big thank you to Raisin for doing what you do to keep this area going. I'm sure everyone appreciates it as much as I do.
  2. Maryland is gong to beat OSU, book it.
  3. The Patriots, Jets, Bengals, Broncos, Cardinals, and Raiders are 1-3. The Giants are 1-2. Only the Bears and Panthers are 0-4. It doesn't matter if the Bears win or lose against the Panthers. They are going to be the two worst teams in the NFL. It's awful, but it's also an opportunity. If they fire Poles and his staff now, put in placeholders, and start working on who they want to put in their place and trade assets they can use, they can set themselves up for a Hershall Walker-like haul of players. They won't do it and will miss an opportunity that comes around maybe once every 30 years.
  4. Who are we? His performance for the first half of the season is inexplicable given his history. And he had a great ST. I expect he's going to be better next year. I hope they shame him into getting into better shape. I worry more about Steele next year and he will be 29. He's a guy I would package in a deal for someone.
  5. Yes, it’s a dilemma. They can’t even lose right. Fields lives as a viable QB for one more week.
  6. Mine: I had them in the 70s win total. The early part of the season was rough. It got more fun when they brought Morel up. They never could get the bullpen figured out. Some of that was due to injuries. Some of it was due to lack of talent. But they have to do a better job in ST figuring out a pen. They do not have enough talent to give up games in April and May trying to cobble together who to go to in high leverage situations. It’s not a good tactic. Overall I enjoyed the season although it was frustrating. They’re going to have to decide if Ross is the right man to break in rookies and younger players, because the next couple of years they are going to be percolating up. I think Ross is an ass, but he’s not a terrible manager. He suffers from a lot of the same symptoms of many managers who were not good players but hung around the majors for a long time. it should be an interesting offseason to say the least. Thanks to the new owners for modernizing the site, and thanks to everyone here who makes our dysfunctional family fun enough to hang out with. I love you all,
  7. At least for right now, the worst team in the NFL is not the Bears.
  8. I saw a stat, don’t know if it’s true but it said the Broncos haven’t won a road game in the US since 2021!
  9. He showed that he could play close to where he was in LA. I think the best adjustment he made was his two-strike approach. He's going to make a lot of money next year and beyond.
  10. To me, it's the last chance for Fields to show he has anything. This is a worse defense than the Bears in many categories. If he can't put it together today, it's over for him.
  11. Until the Atlanta meltdown I really believed they would make it.
  12. Candy played on a one year deal. He’s going to be looking for his last big contract. Not saying they won’t try to sign him, but he’s not a good fit given their needs.
  13. Pat Benatar sings “it’s a little too little it’s a little too late” in my head
  14. Whoever wants to trade Morel go root for someone else.
  15. If they can’t beat Denver, I don’t know how they score enough to beat any team. It’s the NFL so, it’s possible but this game is important.
  16. They need to find a 1st baseman and a 3rd baseman. Maybe a CF. They need left handed power. The need a SP a closer (maybe), and a LH Reliever or two. They have some money, but not a lot of Stroman stays. The FA market is thin. They may be spending prospects.
  17. My post is not pessimistic in the least. It’s reality. It’s public pronouncements from Tommy boy and his boy Jed I didn’t call them misers. But they aren’t spending money to go over the luxury tax for multiple years. So we can forget about $40M/yAAV contracts for anyone without sacrificing to a great extent on other talent.
  18. Not the right comment to the well written commentary, but… they should not build a team that will be good if things break right. they should build a team that will be good even if things break wrong.
  19. Not necessarily disagreeing with you as a expect they will NEVER go above the LT that they personally pushed through the last CBA. But if anything, with the talent coming up in the next year or two, I’d expect they get close. Jed and the Ricketts don’t want to get purse high dollar FA because they are business oriented first and winning second.
  20. Cubs are a broken team. They need a break.
  21. De Vries has a beautiful left-handed swing. Linked to the Padres.
