  1. Closer to the Cubs situation, but not close.
  2. Few years from now bowls will be a thing of the past and college football as we know it will not exist. There will a four or eight divisions for the big boys and the regional universities will be in a separate league of their own.
  3. Boy would that be a monkey wrench.
  4. April 25th to be exact. It's going to be wild until then. I don't get the polarization, but wow.
  5. I love Joey Votto.
  6. Sully is quite a character. He was amongst the biggest Fields guys and now them's fighin' words.
  7. I know you're joking, but that is not a half-bad idea if they can find someone to coach the defense.
  8. overpriced is a value judgment and not an objective fact. Next.
  9. Who cares what label? It's an educated guess at best when the guy is drafted. Does anyone remember Todd Marinovich? JaMarcuss Russell? Whoever? We have to hope that if they choose to move on from Fields, they've done their homework on the kid all the way around. Williams scares me slightly, just based on the purported demands. It could be a lot of nothing, or it could be something. I'm not an expert on QB play transferring from NCAA to NFL and personal make up and neither is anyone else posting on here.
  10. It's going to be very interesting to see what happens. I'm not plugged into Chicago media so I don't know if there is any indication of what Warren and Poles are thinking. But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised by anything. Keeping Fields and Fluss. Keeping Fields and Fluss, but getting a new OC. Keeping Fields getting rid of the coaching staff, which let's face it, has not been good. When you fire your DC and running back coach for non-football reasons, that is a huge red flag. Other scenarios- Kepping Fields drafting Williams and keeping Fluss with a new OC. Drafting Williams and trading Fields, keeping Fluss and the OC. Completely flushing the toilet on all of them. I don't necessarily think the sentiments of NSBB on the Bears are shared by the folks at Halas Hall.
  11. Management of most MLB teams prefers cheap labor.
  12. My opinion is that they believe that they are on the cusp of a very good young team. I think they buy into what is happening and the development team they put in place. There is a lot to like about the longer-term future. At the same time, I think they have a philosophical and strategic vision for how they want to build a team. That vision does not include, to paraphrase Tom Ricketts, "paying for past production". I think this is what is driving what we are seeing. As long as the Ricketts own the Cubs I think there will not be many occasions where they are going to go out of their way to sign big-name free agents to long term contracts.
  13. He could also turn out to be a future HOFer. Anyone can play this game.
  14. I don't either, but I'm not the Bears front office. They may have other ideas.
  15. I believe that the QB has to fit the system. I know "system" QB is a pejorative, but the best teams have a match between the two. So whatever version of the Bears offense they are going to have with a new OC should be put in place before they make decisions about who to draft when. If they honestly assess Fields and think he can do the job if put into the correct system, I can accept that, so long as they get a good OC/system fit for the things he does well and try to minimize the things he doesn't do well. However, he has not shown the consistency needed to be a starting QB, no matter the system. I also don't think Poles is going to stake his job on it, but you never can tell.
  16. Bellinger may have priced himself out the market. Boars does this a lot with players. it's not always in their best interest. I agree with whoever said he might take another short-term deal, but he isn't getting any younger either.
  17. One thing to remember is that Poles invested heavily in defense to this point. So at least he can pick those players, probably a much easier job. I think it's going to be a lot to ask of this ownership to get rid of Eberfuls. I think it's much more likely that they draft a QB and keep Fields and try to find a way to make it work.
  18. It's bad for us Cubs fans, but imagine being a Yankees fan. Ole Georgie is not only rolling in his grave, he's pounding on the casket.
  19. And then he couldn’t hit horsefeathers
  20. Not the Bears, but Tua made an incredible throw out of his end zone.
  21. I’m getting the national game. I was hoping for a Christmas present from Fox.
  22. The Cubs did him wrong. With his wing he was never going to hit for power, but that doesn’t mean he couldn’t have been a very useful player.
